Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
TGIF!! I'm so glad it's the end of the week. It's a working Friday for me; but I'm going to take a half day of vacation this afternoon. I have a group of stampers joining me tonight for our "Christmas In July" class - and I'm so excited about all the fun projects we're going to be working on. You all have gotten to see some of them; but there are a couple more that I have up my sleeve - heehee. And if you are a subscriber to my Newsletter (DDS Nibbles) - then you will get an exclusive Project Sheet on one of those "secret" projects this next week to close out the month of July!! Are you ready for the next installment of "Christmas In July"?? Here we go 😄
I've been chompin' at the bit to ink up this set; and am finally doing it. There is so much more I want to try with this wonderful set of stamps and dies, but this is a nice start - and I played with lots of texture and fun new things (as well as some old retired items I pulled out of the drawer!!)
~ Colors Co'ordination ~
Today's color selections are meant for a vintage feel. And these colors work beautifully together!! I think we tend to forget about Always Artichoke; but it just is the most marvelous green!!
~ Doggone Delightful Stampin' Project Notes ~
- The card base for this card is cut from Soft Suede cardstock, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" - a standard A2 side-fold card. The matting piece is Cherry Cobbler, overlaid with Soft Suede again as the background for the focal scene.
- I pulled out the new embossing paste for this project - and combined it with Soft Suede reinker. Oh My! How much fun. I used the new Pattern Party Decorative Mask stencils, choosing, of course, the brick pattern for this background. I purposely smeared the paste so that it wasn't "perfect" around the edges. I wanted that "faded off" look to the card. It was so easy to use and turned out perfectly!! So fun to be adding dimension and "mixed media" to our cards!! Stampin' Up! is a little late to the party on this trend; but as we always say ~ better late than never! And I'm thrilled we have this product now!!
- The white "snow" is some Aleene's Glitter Snow Paste I bought late last year. I actually bought a couple different "snow pastes" after the holidays last year and am ready to whip them out and give them a try. I'm excited to be trying some new things. Some of those I hope to share here soon!! At any rate, I just smeared it on with my palette knife and whipped it around a little bit. I wasn't looking for anything "perfect" here; just the feel of snow on the walkway so to speak.
Now it's time to go to town with the At Home With You Bundle (be sure you buy this set in its bundle so you save 10%). I stamped the door on a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and then I used the Real Red watercoloring pencil and my AquaPainter to add color to the front door. The piece is easily cut out using the framelits; and I adhered it to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock for stability and so that I could "pop" it on the card front with dimensionals. I also wanted to be able to "open" the door and have a message on the inside. We'll look at that in a minute. Each of the other pieces are all stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut with the dies - so easy to do!! They are all popped with dimensionals and have extra coloring and details (like the Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details on the tree beside the doorway). All the pieces have been sponged on their edges with Soft Suede to keep the vintage feel.
~ Turn to the Front Inside ~
Pop the door open, and I added a simple sentiment and "bow." You could do anything inside here that you liked; I could see a Christmas tree in the background, or add a wreath!!
I have a glue dot there, as you can see, that I have used my finger to make less tacky, but is just enough to hold my door closed when I want.
~ Turn to the Real Inside ~
I used this sentiment from the Christmas Pines stamp set, stamped in Always Artichoke, and free-handed additions in Cherry Cobbler with a stampin' write marker.
Easy, Vintage, and Fun!
This is a project that takes a little more time. If you were going to make 50 of these for your Christmas cards this year, I'd start now -- LOL. I could see a few of these for close family and special people you'd like to have a special card that they would appreciate. Order your At Home With You Bundle in my Online Store today. You save 10% on the bundle; AND you earn a $5 coupon for next month with this purchase during our Bonus Days event. Don't miss out!!
Until Next Time . . .
