Hello Fellow Stampers ~
Well, it may not be Friday, but we're going to slip in our 3-Way Friday post anyway, okay?? 😋
It's been kind of a crazy weekend, and not everything went the way I planned yesterday. Certainly, there are times it seems to take a lot longer than I think it should to design and create. When you're trying to pull together 3 at once, it can be even trickier.
Today, my honey and I went up north to Boulder, Colorado, to do something that has been on my bucket list for a long time. Some of you may be familiar with Leanin' Tree Greeting Cards. These cards have been some of my very favorite for a lot of years. They are truly special and unique cards. And so yes, I do buy a few cards yet even though I make my own; but normally those are only Leanin' Tree. Leanin' Trees founder, Edward Trumble, is an avid Western Art collector, and many of the Leanin' Tree designs are duplicates of art he has obtained over the years, or renditions of those ideas. He has an incredible art collection that he has housed and shares in a special museum dedicated to Western Art and artists. However, he is 92, and has decided it is time to close the museum and sell off his collection. It is something I have always wanted to see, and today we went and saw this wonderful display. Oh my!! I am so glad we did before the museum closes forever; and I'm so sorry I didn't go sooner. What an incredible collection of artwork; and I think only a fraction was even on display. I learned a lot today; and had no idea how many wonderful painters and sculpturers we have had in this country who have been dedicated to capturing our beautiful landscapes, and western way of life; including the Native Americans. It took my breath away and I walked away with wonderful images and memories today. I hope this collection finds good homes and will be seen by many for years to come.
It makes me feel wholly inadequate in my quiet attempts to be creative and artistic.
I wish I had the abilities and talents of these wonderful men and women.
So we will each make some beauty in our own way I think - and try to bring pleasure to others, yes?
Today's 3-Way Friday focuses on the "snowflakes" and winter theme of the Colorful Seasons bundle.
But not necessarily in traditional colors - how fun is that?!?
I hope you will enjoy some of these design and feel a little inspired too!
Let's start with this beauty - I love the elegance of Gold on most anything. Mixed with Very Vanilla and a backdrop of Crumb Cake, this card just feels special.
The Very Vanilla cardstock is embossed with the Softly Falling textured impressions embossing folder; and is matted with Gold Foil.
The latest trend with ribbon is to create what I call a "zig-zag" instead of a wrap and a bow. I'm really loving this newest trend actually. I think it's kind of elegant when done correctly.
Technique Tip: Use glue dots (my favorite adhesive!), laid where you want to position the ribbon first; then lay the ribbon over those and add where needed to hold it in place. Simple and easy!!
The snowflakes in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits are some of my very favorite I think. So pretty!
These are cut from Gold Foil, Vellum (for a lovely "light" and sheer feel), and a Sneak Peak here -- the brand new Champagne Foil (oh my!).
The "dots" scattered inbetween were captured from the thinlit cutouts and adhered with Fine-Tip Glue. A wonderful way to use those pieces that come out of the die cuts.
Some wonderful Metallic Enamel Shapes in gold and silver were added to the snowflake centers; and this card just shimmers.
A quick peak at the inside, shows a simple layer of Very Vanilla cardstock; but the addition of two more snowflake cutouts just makes this such a special card to open.
The next design is kind of "modern" and different I think.
I used this piece of "crackled" paper design from the Color Theory designer series paper, and laid it to look like "snowbanks". It is matted with Dapper Denim cardstock against a Whisper White card base, and wrapped with Sheer Whisper White ribbon. So pretty!
The sentiment is cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits, and matted with a scalloped Layering Circle framelit., popped with dimensionals.
The snowflakes on this card are cut from one of the variegated pieces from the Color Theory DSP; which allows variation in coloring across the snowflakes without having to do any extra inking.
Each of these snowflakes was popped with a mini glue dot right in the center; which was hidden with a Glitter Enamel Dot.
The nice thing about a card like this is that it is not specific to a holiday; it just looks wintery - so a perfect seasonal card.
This design is "outside the box" in color choices and intent.
The sentiment allows this to be used for any occasion - even just a note of encouragement to a friend.
This is a watercolored card - the background done on watercolor paper using Berry Burst, Sweet Sugarplum and Pink Pirouette inks.
It's simple and easy to create a background like this.
The sentiment was veramarked and embossed with White Embossing Powder first; then the watercolor added in.
These snowflakes were cut from Vellum, Whisper White, and Pink Pirouette cardstocks, and then watercolored at random with the same inks.
I love how they turned out and the great variegation against the background.
Simple Rhinestones were placed in the middle of these snowflakes.
This should round our focus on the Colorful Season bundle for this week. I hope you have enjoyed these as much as I have enjoyed creating them. This was my number one pick from the Annual Catalog, and I am so glad I invested in these products. The entire Color Theory Suite is a must have in my mind! So don't miss out. There are lots of wonderful cards to be made this Fall and Winter!! Pop over to my Online Store and purchase a bundle for yourself this weekend!
Have a great rest of your weekend everyone! And I hope you'll find some time to create!
Until Next Time . . .
