Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
I've been having a little fun in the studio this week, and am very excited to share a special little card I designed for you this week. I hope you are going to love it as much as I do; and I hope my sweetie will love it come Valentine's Day!
Now we won't have a full "class" today -- but I'll try to give you a few measurements and tips for this cute little card.
This fun card is what I'm calling a "Backwards Z-Fold." The reason is that I folded the card opposite of what a normal Z-fold card would normally be. I liked the effect and thought it was fun to do something just a touch different. What I also liked about this was that it left only the middle back panel open which is absolutely perfect for a note to your sweetie!
You would laugh if you had seen my work table the past couple of days. I think I pulled out like half a dozen different stamp sets and as many die/framelit sets, looking for just the right pieces for the idea I had in mind. What I love about this card is that it incorporates new items of our 2018 Spring Occasions Catalog ~ and it also uses a number of wonderful sets from our Annual Catalog (a catalog that I feel gets easily forgotten after we hit September and the onslaught of new products and catalogs that come our way).
For the front of this card, I inked up my adorable Bike Ride stamp set - and had more fun than the law should allow -- LOL
I incorporated ink colors that are found in the Painted With Love Specialty Designer Series Paper that I used in the background of this card.
And remember - this adorable stamp set as a coordinated matching die set - Build a Bike Framelits.
The bike is stamped in Fresh Fig, and the handles, seat, and inside wheels in Peekaboo Peach (oh, and puppy dawg's kerchief too!!)
My "balloons" were cut from the same designer paper using the Sweet & Sassy Framelits; I created strings with Peekaboo Peach Baker's Twine.
And our "Love" sentiment comes from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits set -- remember that one folks? It is a fabulous set of dies!!
The bike was assembled and then popped with dimensionals, as was the sentiment and balloons. Thank goodness for our new mini dimensionals!!
Each panel inside this card brings a surprise. That's what I love about a Z-Fold . . . so much room to play!
This card is cut from Thick Whisper White cardstock - 4-1/4" x 11. I scored at 3" and 7". Be sure to fold the back flap "backwards" and the front flap forwards across the middle panel to get this effect.
The 3" score for the front flap allows for the "gap" from the front panel to the middle panel which holds a 3" x 3-1/8" overlay panel that the bike was attached to.
Here you can see each panel of the inside folds of the card.
Each piece of DSP was cut 1/8" smaller than the panel size.
The hearts on the panel to the left are also from the wonderful Sunshine Wishes Framelits cut in Fresh Fig and Berry Burst.
The middle panel has a circle from the second largest in the Stitched Shapes Framelits. The hearts are stamped from the Heart Happiness stamp set in the new catalog, and then cut with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits which coordinate with that stamp set.
The far right panel (or what would be the back panel when the card is standing up) is the sentiment message.
Here I embossed the pretty little border out of the Sure Do Love You stamp set in gold embossing powder; then fussy cut around it. I used this wonderful sentiment from the new Petal Palette stamp set centered in the middle (actually both sentiments here are from that set). The piece is popped with dimensionals.
Two more "balloons" cut once again with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits are attached with dimensionals as well.
As I mentioned earlier, I did put some DSP on the flip side of this third panel. But the middle panel does not have DSP on the back side, making it perfect to write a note.
When the card is folded closed it measures 4" x 4-1/4" - a cute little card that it is very easy to create an envelope for with our Envelope Punch Board.
I wanted to create a sweet card that wasn't too frilly - but was sweet since it's going to a man.
I think the bike with the puddy dawg fits the bill perfectly!
I hope you have enjoyed today's special fold Valentine's card. I also hope that it inspires you to go through your stash of wonderful sets and see all the possibilities for Valentine's and other holidays. Our stamp sets are so versatile and can be used for so many different occasions. As always, I'm only an email away if you ever have any questions about any of my designs.
Have a wonderful Hump Day!!
Until Next Time . . .
