Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
Howdy! Howdy! Well, Tuesday evening was somewhat of a fiasco at home; so we took the day off from blogging yesterday. Hope you're all okay with that. I have some things planned and up my sleeve for future Class With Wendy; just give me a little time!
This week we're returning to our CASE-Out Thursday post after taking last week off for the Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop. And today I'm bringing you a card that's right smack dab on the front of the 2018 Spring Occasions Catalog and has had my eye from the beginning. Why? Because, in its sheer simplicity, it just grab you!! And it has everything to do with the fantabulous stamp set that we're going to showcase and use today!! Here we go . . .
Picture Perfect birthday
2018 Spring Occasions Catalog - Front Cover (stamp set and suite on page 4/5 of the catalog)
Picture Perfect Birthday, is partially a 2-step stamp set, as you can see in the picture above - as such, it is a photopolymer set so that you can line up the images.
We are also going to talk today about how to "replace" an element when it is not available - in this case, the Picture Perfect Paper Ribbon did not arrive in time for the Spring Catalog, and so is not available to "match" the sample on the front of the catalog.

"CASE-Out" Design Guide
1. Score the 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Thick Whisper White cardstock at 4-1/4" and gently burnish with your bone folder. [Reminder: Fold "inward" on your bump - bump goes to the inside - to get that nice clean professional look]. Use your bone folder gently so as not to "crack" your cardstock.
2. "Set up" your Stamp-a-ma-Jig with the main "bow" image from the stamp set. Then line up the images the 5" x 4-1/4" Whisper White cardstock piece. Stamp each one (one at a time) as follows:
Top Row: Flirty Flamingo/Berry Burst; Pool Party/Bermuda Bay
Second Row: Pool Party/Bermuda Bay; Peekaboo Peach/Flirty Flamingo
Third Row: Lemon Lime Twist/Smoky Slate; Flirty Flamingo/Berry Burst
Some tips for your success: The colors listed above are the main bow, and then the inner color. The image for the "inside" of the bows lines up - see the "arrows" on the acetate sheet they rest on. There is more space between the first row and the second row, then there is between the second row and the third row. This allows for the sentiment strip to lay between the rows and not cover up too much of the bows.
Adhere your finished Whisper White piece to the front of the card base with SNAIL.
3. Ink just the "celebrate" portion of this sentiment from the stamp set in Versamark ink and stamp it on the Bermuda Bay strip. Emboss with White embossing powder. Stamp the little "stars" in Bermuda Bay around the sentiment.
4. We're going to replace the Paper Ribbon with strips punched from the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch instead. Cut a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock so that it is 4-1/4" wide, then punch two strips off that cardstock using the punch. Add SNAIL along each of the long edges of the back side of the Bermuda Bay strip and adhere the "ribbon" strips. Then SNAIL the strip to the front of the card.
5. Add some Rhinestone jewels, and your card is complete!!
Here's a peak at the inside of my card!!
What's nice about both the front of this card, and the inside sentiment is that it's "generic" enough that you could use it for other celebratory celebrations, not just for birthdays!
What fun this little card was to make. I like the CAS (clean and simple) feel to the front of the card. Interestingly, this card was not as "simple" to make as you might think -- LOL. And while typing this blog post, I've decided I may need to do a video tutorial for this one so that everyone can see first hand how to put this all together. I LOVE the final effect. So glad we unlocked the suitcase combo today! Now the suitcase is safely closed back up; we'll have to wait until next week to see what's inside!!
Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! It's my "Friday" since tomorrow is an off-Friday week -- whoo hooo!!! So I'm off to finish up my week at work.
Until Next Time . . .
