Mix-It Up Mondays . . . Cake Soiree Birthday!

Hello Fellow Stampers :-)

Well this has just not been my day that's for sure!!  I dislike Mondays that seem to kick the week off on a yucky note!  But that is definitely how today has felt.  And we're snowy and cold besides; and are supposed to be all week.  So that will put a damper on things pretty quickly too!!  Oh well, Miss Sadie Ann and I will have to stay snuggled up warm inside from the bitter cold (although she likes to jump through the snow when there is enough to do so outside)!! 

 

Today's card design took me awhile to create for some reason.  I feel like I'm in one of my "creative blocks" right now; and although I've seen all kinds of wonderful ideas out there, nothing has resonated with me.  So I really had to sit down and force the creative juices - watching a little Bachelor and a little Olympic Ice Dancing helped!!  LOL

 

 

I loved the whole Cake Soiree Suite the minute I saw it; the elegance and beauty of this suite really resonates with me.

But that being said, I wanted to create something that wasn't "pink or blue sweetness"; I felt like I wanted something a little bit more bright and cheerful ~ feels like a party!

So I had a little fun with a number of new products on this card - and I hope you will like it too!!

 

I cut a piece of Shimmery White cardstock, 2-1/8" x 5-1/4" - perfect fit for the floral image in the Petal Pair TIEF.  So pretty!

Then I sponged over the raised impression with Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive.  I love how this makes the images pop in the background.

The adorable cake is stamped first with the solid cake image in Daffodil Delight; and then using the Stamp-a-ma-Jig, I stamped the detailed outline and floral image over the top in Versamark and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  I then colored the images in with Stampin' Write Markers - Calypso Coral, Berry Burst & Old Olive.

The "cake platter", "stand", and "bow topper" are all cut out from Silver Foil.

Now, let's be honest - we have some pretty cute animal stamp sets out there . . . Quirky Critters, This Little Piggy, Pretty Kitty, Seaside Shore, Birthday Delivery, Foxy Friends, and the new Hedgehugs, and Sweet Little Something (Bunny), just to name a few.  And there are many more.  So how to choose . . .  I pondered awhile, and finally ended up reaching for the new Sale-a-Bration set, Party Pandas.  I've been wanting to ink this set up for awhile already, and it just was long overdue!!  Additionally, YOU can get this stamp set for FREE, with your qualifying $50 order during Sale-A-Bration!!  Fabulous!!  So how about some Panda fun?!?  LOL  😉

 

I adore these little guys - and how much fun it was to design these cards!

I used some fun bright colors for my "birthday party" - Crushed Curry and Emerald Envy.

And I kept the Black theme throughout to keep that crisp look that I think these cute little Pandas create - I mean really, what's more classic and crisp than black & white!!

 

On both cards I used the pretty Scattered Sequin Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Love this new folder, and the nice deep impression it gives!

I also used the beautiful 3/8" Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon for a nice classy touch - and a "tuxedo" bow -- LOL

 

One card sports an "oval" feel; the other a circular - nicely layered with the Layering Ovals and Circles framelits  - so easy.

And additional detail is added for each card using the Birthday Delivery stamp set, and coordinating Birthday Friends Framelits - to create fun balloons.

Finished off with Adhesive Backed Sequins - these cards are ready for party fun!!

"Case the Catty" - February 2018 Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop

Happy Valentine's Day!

And welcome to the 2nd Wednesday of February . . . which means, it's time for the Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop this month!  I hope you're ready for some fun and inspiration as we "Case the Catty" today.  The Stampin’ Pretty Pals will copy or remake projects from any of the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs and brochures.  After all, who doesn’t CASE (Copy and Share Everything) once in a while.  You may be just starting today's hop here with me, or you may have "hopped" over from another Pal.  In either case you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

Today we're going to CASE the sweet little tags (or bookmarks) on page 20 of the 2018 Spring Occasions Catalog.  I've had my eye on these little cuties for awhile now - and with today being Valentine's Day, it seemed like the perfect time to snag a last minute project - easy and quick that you can give anyone today that you might want to remember with a sweet little "something."

 

These sweet little tags showcase the Heart Happiness stamp set; but the wonderful sentiments are all from the Petal Palette stamp set -- check it out!!

 

Peekaboo Peach and Calypso Coral are the colors used on these projects (except for the one row or Real Red hearts on the tag to the right).  Achieve variations in color by stamping off first to get lighter shades; and stamping full strength for darker shading.

I "dressed" up my tags (compared to the ones in the catalog) by using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch (one of my most favorite punches), and using the new Silver Baker's Twine for all the twine pieces on these tags.  You will also see the Calypso Coral 1/4" Ombre ribbon, just a gorgeous ribbon for a project like this.

Mix-It Up Mondays ~~ Watercolor Waterfront

Good Morning Fellow Stampers :-)

How is everyone this gloomy Monday?  We are socked in with dark threatening clouds here today and our high is supposed to be all of 27 degrees.  Seems like a perfect day to snuggle in at home . . . oh well!

 

I had an interesting weekend; and quite busy.  My honey and I celebrated Valentine's Day last evening at Cheesecake Factory since it falls in the middle of the week this year.  Just seemed like it would be more relaxed and enjoyable that way.  We also went and saw "The 15:17 to Paris" - not too bad of a movie actually!!  Check it out!

 

Today's project was one I had actually originally planned on posting up this past Friday; but events got the better of me; so I saved it for today instead!!  I've been having fun playing around with my new Brusho watercolor crystals, and experimenting with the new Waterfront stamp set.  Since this stamp set already gives a "faux" watercolor look just in the stamping itself, it increases the effect that much more when using something like Brusho.  I'm LOVING it!!

 

 

What is so much fun about using Brusho is the ability to mix the crystal powder and get variations of the coloring as you spritz and stamp.

 

Here I used Prussion Blue, Yellow and Moss Green as my primary crystal mixture.  I love the variations that can be achieved just with these three colors.

The mat and sentiment are in Tranquil Tide which go perfectly with the mountain range.

And most fun - the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes that were colored with the lightest Bermuda Bay Stampin' Blend before being attached to the card front.

 

The first card showcased was on the horizontal, and I feel turned out more like a "Fall" card . . . so pretty.

This card is on the vertical, and I played with creating a "mountain lake" and grounding the mountains and land around it.  I love my "sun" created with the Gambroge and Yellow crystals.

Here I matted and stamped the sentiment with Dapper Denim - and used the new Tailored Tag Punch. I played a little with pushing the matted sentiment off the edge, and cropping it to the edge.

 

Here's a TON of fun!

I love the "tropical" choice to this stamp set . . . and how much fun I had creating this little beach scene.

I think that I'd like to play with this a little bit more - mainly with where I placed the sentiment.  I think I would change that if I redo this design. 

One of the things I love the most about this though was the "splattering" that happened quite by accident when I was stamping.  It makes the card just feel free and fun!

 

All of these cards were created with the Very Vanilla Notecards and Envelopes pack.

I love the small size of these cards and how quickly you can create a notecard set using this set, the Brusho technique, and this wonderful stamp set!
