Good Morning Fellow Stampers !!
Welcome to the 2nd Wednesday of March - time for the Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop this month! And falling right in with my needing a little Spring in my life, it's time to bring some Spring to the blog pages as well!! The Stampin’ Pretty Pals will inspire you with Spring or Spring-related projects. You may see floral, Easter or other general Spring-inspired designs. You may be just starting the hop today here with me, or you may have hopped on over from Rae Harper-Burnet at Wild West Paper Arts. In either case you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
Today's theme comes at a very fortuitous time. My mother has a birthday in a week. She has always loved the fact that her birthday is on the very first day of Spring! And so, it seems only appropriate that I create for her a very special "Spring" card. And what better way to do that than with our wonderful new Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper. If you haven't seen this paper in the 2nd Sale-A-Bration Release, you are truly missing out!! Gorgeous is not a strong enough word!!
This paper is super thick and has a shiny glossy finish. I used my Stampin' Blends on these beautiful champagne foil flowers - and had very interesting results. It was a lot of fun playing with these markers on this paper and seeing how the color moved on the surface of the paper. Give it a try!! I used the Calypso Coral blend set, and the Old Olive blend set for the leaves.
The paper is matted with Peekaboo Peach, and wrapped with 1/8" Calypso Coral Sheer Ribbon. I created a triple bow to finish that off.
But this is one of those designs where I had a totally different idea in mind than where I ended up.
I used the pretty sentiment Sale-A-Bration set, Happy Wishes for my sentiment on this card.
Stamped with Versamark on Vellum, then embossed with Gold Embossing Powder, I then colored the flowers from the back for a "stained glass" look.
I originally tested cutting this out with the Layering Ovals, and putting a pretty Gold Foil Scallop around it - but as you can see, I ended up fussy cutting it out in the end. I decided I just didn't want to cover up too much of the beautiful paper. I really wanted that to shine! So, the sentiment kind of stays "muted" on the front of this card, and I really like how that turned out.
The inside of the card finishes off the sentiment phrase . . . with one of the flowers colored and fussy cut to sit simply in the corner. Simple and pretty!!
So what do you think? Will my Mom like her birthday card?? 😉
Don't miss out on the Sale-A-Bration products featured in today's project. Only a couple more weeks to snap up your beautiful Springtime Foils SDSP, and Happy Wishes stamp set!!
Thank you so much for hopping with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals today. Your next stop on today's journey is Corinne Blake at The Creative Compendium. Have fun "hopping." And see you next month!!
Until Next Time . . .
