Hello Fellow Stampers ~
Welcome to our monthly Sunday post - the only one we do each month for the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop!! As we've begun the "last call" for all the wonderful products during 2017-2018, that includes saying good bye to a wonderful In Color collection as well. And I have truly enjoyed the 2016-2018 In Color collection. So today, we'll celebrate the In Color which was selected by my followers over on the DDS Distinctive Dabblers Facebook group, in a poll a little over a week ago!! Enjoy!!
Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for April 2018. This month our theme is Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors! You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog – Wendy Klein at Doggone Delightful Stampin' - or you may have hopped in from Jennifer Spiller at Westside Paper Creations - the person previous to me on the list. If you get off track at any time, don't worry. Just surf down to the full lineup below and follow along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.
Our featured In Color today is Sweet Sugarplum - and I always thought this was such a nice combination of soft rose and lavender hues to create was truly a sugarplum treat!
This card design is chock full of soon retiring products - such as the Petal Garden designer series paper, the featured You've Got This stamp set, the Sweet Sugarplum 3/8" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, and the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes. So many wonderful things soon going away!!
Now you may be asking how I created the background to this card; it was so easy and fun -- let's take a look . . .
The piece of designer paper I chose from the Petal Garden pack, has a natural stripe in it -- I chose to cover the solid stripe with the ribbon allowing the diagonal stripe to show against it for a neat effect!
Super easy!! Wrap strips of the ribbon around the cardstock layers to line up right over the solid stripe section.
I just put a little bit of adhesive on either side to attach on the back.
Then add you SNAIL securely across all the ends and down the sides to attach to the card front.
I chose another piece of the designer paper to cut an oval, and then overlaid it with a matching oval shape in Vellum to soften the look.
The flower from the You've Got This stamp set is stamped in Basic Gray Archival Ink on Vellu, and then colored from the back side with Sweet Sugarplum stampin' write marker and Old Olive Stampin' Blends. Remember, when you are using a regular marker to color on Vellum, it takes longer to dry, so give it plenty of time to keep from smearing.
I attached the flower to the oval layered background using just a couple of glue dots "hidden" so they can't show through, then after attaching some Vellum Leaves punched with the Leaf punch to the back of the oval, popped the whole piece on the front of the card with dimensionals.
A double bow and some "dew drop" Glitter/Clear Enamel Shapes finishes it off just right.
Leaving the sentiment off the front of the card keeps it both clean, the focal point on the beautiful flower, and allows you to use the card for any occasion you wish.
But . . . that being said . . . here's how I finished off the inside of this card.
To match the front, I kept the color layering the same, and added another strip of the ribbon around the layers.
Then the flower is simply stamped in Sweet Sugarplum (stamped off once first) with the sentiment in Old Olive over it.
I do believe I'm going to miss this stamp set - it is so wonderful for so many purpses; and so easy to color too!!
