"CASE-Out" Design Guide
Instead of a step-by-step tutorial today, I'm just going to give you a little more "top level" overview of what I did with each design. This one in particular, after looking at the SU! sample for awhile, I really wanted to "step up" a bit. So as you can see, I cut a piece of Vellum - 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" - and then stamped the images on the Vellum. I did this in "layers" - i.e., I stamped the outline of the flower stems first in Grapefruit Grove; then I heat-dried with the low setting on my Heat Gun. Next I came back in with the solid "overlay" image in Petal Pink and stamped over each of the flower blossoms (hint - stamp off once first); then I heat-dried again on the low setting. Finally I stamped the leaf stem in Pear Pizzazz. Technique Tip: When stamping on Vellum, you have to give the ink time to dry as Vellum is not porous like cardstock. Heat-drying on the low setting of your heat gun can speed up this process and keep you from smearing your pretty artwork!!
The Vellum is attached to the card front with glue dots tucked in "hidden" areas behind the images - and helps create the image of the Vellum kind of floating on the card front. The sentiment was also stamped in Pear Pizzazz, and in this case I cut it out with the squares in the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Finally, it is all finished off with the absolutely (drool) yummy (drool) and luscious (drool drool) new Share What You Love Artisan Pearls (get the impression I am in love with these yet?! - LOL)
Using Vellum and our Stitched Shapes Framelits is an easy way to step the original card sample and really make it your own creation! I love how this turned out. It feels very soft and "impressionistic" in person!
This sample stayed fairly true to the original, except that I added some layering. The original sample has a front mat layer of Rich Razzleberry against the Rich Razzleberry cardstock base. But you know me, I just can't do that!! So I added the Powder Pink mat layer in-between for that nice little pop of color and to pull it all together with the front image stamping. I love the "watercolor wash" image in the Love What You Do stamp set. It is stamped in Powder Pink (stamped off once first) in the background; the poppy stem stamped over it in Rich Razzleberry; and then the small wash images (there are two and I used both in this design) on the flowers in Petal Pink (full strength), and Rich Razzleberry (stamped off first once). The other little flower images were stamped in Petal Pink and then in Powder Pink to give a darker and slightly different feel to the color so they wouldn't fade into the background.
The gorgeous tag is right out of the new Share What You Love Embellishment Kit - making it so easy! I used the new Make a Difference alphabet stamp set to create the "Friend" and hand cut it out before attaching it to the tag. The luscious velvet ribbon is attached to the back of the tag along with a piece of Pearlized Doily and then the whole thing is popped on the front of the card with dimensionals. The nice thin Whisper White thread is also from the embellishment kit. And of course, those gorgeous pearls again to finish it all off!!
