Fabulous Friday Fun ~ Oldies but Goodies for the Holidays!

Good Morning Fabulous Fellow Stampers ~

TGIF!!  And I'm so glad it's an Off-Friday for me too!!  So far it's been a relaxing morning, working on the "to-do" list around the house.  I'm thrilled to have it cool and pretty this morning too!!  More monsoon storms on their way though - should be wet later in the day!!

 

Today is another installment of our Christmas In July fun we're having!!  Today its all about cozy sweaters, and snuggling with teddy bears.  It's enough to make you just want to curl up with a cup of hot cocoa in a big overstuffed chair and read a good book!!  LOL

 

And how fabulous that we get to play with some products today that have been with us for awhile!!  The "Perks" of playing with the Annual Catalog!!!

 

 

Cuteness Overload!!

Today we're playing with the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set, and the fabulous Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder!

Today's color scheme combines Old Olive with Real Red and coordinates with our "paper pieced" bear's lovely sweater !!

 

The Old Olive card base is cut 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" with the fold to the top.  Layering includes a pop peak of the Real Red, and an Old Olive overlay that was embossed with the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF - be sure to spritz your cardstock lightly before running this through the Big Shot - the Dynamic folders make a "deep" impression!

Then I pulled out one of our retired corner punches and used the "slot" punch on that punch to create an opening to pull my 3/8" Real Red Cotton Ribbon through and tie a "faux bow".  So cute!  Make it feel like it's part of the card front!

 

The bear image was stamped with Crumb Cake ink on Whisper White; add the ears with the same color; and the face with Early Espresso.

The stamp the image on the "back side" of the Under the Mistletoe DSP, and punch.  Then you can "fussy cut" the "sweater" to fit like you want using your Paper Snips; and attach to the bear using SNAIL.

A few Glitter Enamel Dots in Granny Apple Green and cut him out with the largest Stitched Shape Framelit Oval.  He's popped on the front of the card with dimensionals.

I added the sentiment stamped in Old Olive and punched with the Classic Label Punch.

And finished it off with a cute Corrugated Heart Element and a piece of 1/8" Gold Cord.

Case-Out Thurdays ~ A Very Stylish Christmas In July !

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~

Wendy here today with a fun CASE-Out Thursday project, straight from the Holiday section of our Annual Catalog.  What I love about today's project is how fabulous it looks, but how simple it was to put together!!  I also love that today's stamp set is one of our brand new Dis-Ink-tive stamps - which gives such an incredible fabulous "depth" to the image all rolled into one simple stamp - yeah!  I also love the new In-Color combination I used today - so Christmassy - and would you have thought about that when reaching for these colors?

 

So let's head into today's Christmas In July project - showcasing the fan-tab-ulous Stylish Christmas!!

 "CASE-Out" Design Guide

1. Score the 4-1/4" x 11" card base cardstock at 5-1/2" and gently burnish with your bone folder. [Reminder:  Fold "inward" on your bump - bump goes to the inside - to get that nice clean professional look].  Use your bone folder gently so as not to "crack" your cardstock.  

2.  Set your 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" Whisper White cardstock on the base of the Stamparatus, and line up your sentiment, leaves and scrollwork for the top left-hand corner where you'd like them to be; then pick up the sentiment and leaves on one "lid" of the Stamparatus; and the scrollwork on the other.  Stamp the Sentiment/Leaves in Call Me Clover first; then the Scrollwork in Lovely Lipstick second.  Flip the cardstock around and adjust to pick up just the "edge" of the scrollwork on the opposite corner.

3.  Stamp the poinsettia on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut with your Paper Snips.  Attach to the Whisper White cardstock piece with dimensionals. 

 

3.  Pull all your layers together with SNAIL and attach to the card base front with SNAIL.

4.  Add Gold Metallic Pearls to the center of the flower, around your sentiment, and in the curls of the scrollwork. 

 

 

 

What did we change about today's CASE-Out?  Did you check out the sample on page 100 and compare it to today's project?  We added an extra layer (of course! LOL), and we stamped in Lovely Lipstick instead of Versamark and embossing in Gold for the background swirls.  I also added a lot more Gold Metallic Pearls - because I just LOVE them!!  LOL

Wednesday Highlight - A Merry & Bright July!

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

 

Whew!   It's Wednesday already!  This final week of July is going by so quickly.

The monsoons have finally arrived in Colorado (they're late this year), and have broken our drought we were experiencing this year in a BIG way.  I thought we were going to literally float away last night; the rain was coming down so hard and so fast - and inch and a half in 20 minutes!  O M G !!!  I definitely have not had to water the yard and the garden/pots since this past weekend!  God has been taking care of it for me!  LOL  :-)

 

I mentioned on Monday that it's time for Christmas in July this week!!  Whoo Hooo.  This was something new I started last year and I have to say, I really find it kind of fun to take an early peek at the holidays; especially with a new Holiday Catalog literally right around the corner!!   In fact, all the Stampin' Up! Demonstrators are getting their "first look" at the goodies coming soon.  We start our Pre-Order season on August 1st! Whew!  So hard to believe!  So this coming Saturday, we will have Christmas In July class, and I'll pull out a little Christmas music on the player, and maybe something holidayish for a sweet treat, and we're going to play.  Want to join us?  ;-)

 

Today's card project takes its inspiration from my fabulous up-upline, Mary Fish; but with some of my own touches and vision :-)  What I love about focusing on Christmas this time of year is that we actually look at what's in our Annual Catalog, versus what is the primary focus in our coming Holiday Catalog.  This allows you to see what is in other stamp sets and to dig deep into some of that creativity.

 

 

This card is simple - and uses several different products to create an inviting coziness that is not too over the top on "holiday."  Change out the sentiment and you could use this design for a number of different occasions. The Under the Mistletoe designer series paper collection has several absolutely wonderful plaid and tartan-style designs that are perfect for all sorts of backgrounds to your projects.  For today's project I chose the Old Olive plaid (with a thin stripe of Night of Navy woven in).  Although the colors coordinated for this package of paper indicates Whisper White is used, I chose Very Vanilla for today's card for a "softer" touch.  The card base is from the wonderful new Shaded Spruce (gonna LOVE this green, I can already tell), and accented with the Old Olive.

 

 

Simple layers, tied with our Sheer 1/8" Old Olive ribbon (yummy!).  The focal point is a sentiment that you will find hiding in the Another Wonderful Year stamp set, stamped in Shaded Spruce on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Be sure to check out this wonderful sentiment stamp set!!  It gives you options for cards for all occasions throughout the year.  Then the sentiment is layered up using our Stitched Shapes Framelits and Layering Circles Framelits, and popped on the card front with dimensionals.  Now comes our fabulous Pretty Pines Thinlits - you didn't forget about those, did you?? ;-)  LOL  I cut 4 of the holly leaf stems in Shaded Spruce, and 2 of the berry stems in Sparkle Glimmer Paper, and used Fine-Tip Glue to slip them in place underneath my popped circle layers.  Then it's all finished off with Granny Apple Green Glitter Enamel Dots for a nice fresh pop of color!

 

Simple, easy, and still has a fabulous impact for your recipient!!  You could whip out a batch of these to start Christmas card making today!!  Yeah!
