Hello Fellow Stampers ~
Well, I'm finding it hard to believe that I would even be thinking about Fall right now; but the truth is, that in a few short weeks, we will start to notice a change in the air here in Colorado, and not long after that, the nights will be cooler, the days will be shortening, and we could even see our first snow by early September!! Sooooo . . . I guess I'm going to have to start shifting my thoughts to the upcoming change of seasons, and the holidays right on our heels!!
Yesterday, I introduced the special Limited Edition Color Your Season bundle, available only during the month of August (or while supplies last - which means if it's popular, it could be gone before the end of the month! Don't wait on this one!) I really love the possibilities with this gorgeous bundle; and today we are going to CASE the sample you see on the Color Your Season flyer - just right for Fall!!

"CASE-Out" Design Guide
1. Score the 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" card base cardstock at 4-1/4" and gently burnish with your bone folder. [Reminder: Fold "inward" on your bump - bump goes to the inside - to get that nice clean professional look]. Use your bone folder gently so as not to "crack" your cardstock.
2. With a scrap piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, cut out the smallest stitched label framelit in the Stitched Seasons Framelits set. Put a small piece of SNAIL on the back, and using your finger, make just lightly tacky; then set a little off center (to the left) on the 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock. Stamp the "falling leaves" image from the top down across the die cut; and the up from the bottom so that they criss-cross in the center.
3. Using the new Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 set, color your leaves with a mixture of Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Granny Apple Green, and Garden Green pencils. Use your blender pen to blend and smooth the colors.
4. Cut 3 leaves from Gold Glimmer paper (Note: I used the retired Champagne glimmer for mine; but the sample from SU! uses the Gold), with the thinlet die in the Stitched Seasons framelits set. Using your Cajun Craze watercolor pencil, add color across the top of various areas of the leaves to add dimension [you can also use your aquapainter, pick up color from the tip of the pencil and do this, but be cautious - not too much water; coloring straight onto the glimmer paper with the tip of your pencil actually lays more color and works very well].
5. Add SNAIL to the back of your label die cut, and arrange the glimmer leaves, two to the upper left, and one to the lower right.
6. SNAIL the 5-1/4" x 4" Crumb Cake piece to the front of the card base, with the top edge all the way up and flush. Lay SNAIL across the center where the label die cut will be; add a piece of Copper Trim, tied and spread in a bow so it will show; add a strip of Burlap Ribbon.
7. Pop the finished label die cut with dimensionals over the top of the ribbons, being careful to line up with the images on the card front underneath.
8. Stamp either the small leaf spray (or the wheat spray) in Crushed Curry on the 1-1/4" x 3-1/4" strip of Whisper White cardstock; then stamp the "Thank You" sentiment in Cajun Craze. Snip tails on either end and SNAIL to the center front of the label die.
9. Add some gold and copper sequins from the Metallics assortment; and you're all set to go!! [P.S., I snuck in a little Wink of Stella on my leaves -- heehee]
What did we "change up" today from the original sample? A couple of things. I did not cut the label die out of the center of the 4" x 5-1/4" Crumb Cake piece - they did in the original sample. Which is more an "eclipse" technique, because you would stamp, color, and then cut and pop that center piece up from the rest of the cardstock. I chose to cut it separately and stamp over both pieces and do my coloring that way. The one thing you lose doing it this way is the cool effect of the die leaving stitching on both the cutout and on the background cardstock. Depends on what look you would like to achieve. Either way works - there is no wrong way to do this.
Also, I blended my coloring with my Blender Pen; whereas the original sample just straight colored with the pencils and didn't do any blending of any kind with blender or AquaPainter. The original also incorporates several colors from our original Watercolor Pencil Assortment (such as Pumpkin Pie), which I chose not to do today - wanting to try to color with nothing but color choices from the new set. I also stamped the leaf spray on my sentiment banner; whereas the original sample uses the wheat image from the stamp set (which, by the way is my favorite image out of that set). Either one works. Again, whatever your preference will be just fine! Playing when you CASE is what makes creativity so much fun!!
I promise you, there is a lot more to showcase and play with this gorgeous bundle.
