Case-Out Thursdays - Bubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble, In a Picture Frame!

Happy "Friday" to me; Happy "Friday" to me!!  LOL

Thankful and blessed that this is an off-Friday week, and so today is my official "Friday" at work.  Considering I've been feeling slightly under the weather all week, I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning for sure!!

And the weekend ahead promises to be full of spooky fun, beautiful Fall weather and probably some yummy apple cider and bubbling chili in the crock pot as well (no toil or trouble there!!)

 

Today's CASE-Out comes from page 48 of our fabulous 2018 Holiday Occasions Catalog, and is all about some fun Halloween Decor just in time for decorating for Halloween!!  Yippeee!!  Ready to have some spooky fun?

"CASE-Out" Design Guide

1. Cut the background matting for your 5" x 7" picture frame as follows:  Basic Black - 5" x 7"; Gorgeous Grape - 4-3/4" x 6-3/4"; Green Polka-Dot print from the Toil & Trouble DSP - 4-1/2" x 6-1/2".  Layer together using SNAIL. Then set aside for now.

2.  Your choice - either "fussy cut" a witch of your choice from the Toil & Trouble DSP, or line up the framelit from the Cauldron Framelits Die set with the one it matches in the DSP and use that cute little witch for your scene; line up the framelit for the cauldron and the little cat and cut both of those out of the DSP as well.  [My witch is a "fussy cut" witch in today's sample; the catalog showcases the one that matches the framelit.]

3.  Use the spider web from the die set and cut two spider webs from the Black Foil paper.

4.  Using your largest Stitched Shapes Square framelit, align on one end of your 3" x 5" Whisper White cardstock.  Use your Magnetic Platform to hold in place, and align the top cutting plate just shy of the "inside" edge of the square so that it doesn't cut when you go through the Big Shot.  Then, re-align the square so it overlaps  the cut you just made, and re-set your plate so that you can cut the other side of the cardstock.  This is how you create your rectangle with the stitched edges.

Here we have cut one side, and now we're aligned to cut the other side.

You can see how I've overlapped the edge of the square so that the sides overlap and match the cut I already made.

Then the top cutting plate is set just shy of the edge of the square so that it doesn't cut down the middle of my rectangle and ruin it.

5.  Layer your Whisper White stitched "rectangle" to your 4-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Copper Foil.  Put SNAIL (or Fast Fuse) on the back upper right corner, and lower left corners, and attach your spider webs (however you'd like them to peak out or look).  Then SNAIL this piece to the front of the layers we created in Step 1.

6.  Attach your Witch with regular dimensionals; your Cauldron with SNAIL; and your little kitty with mini-dimensionals.  Stamp your sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Snip off the "loop" on the end of your spider(s) with a heavy duty wire cutter (they come right off, no problem!), and attach where you'd like with a glue dot.  Then color various sized pearls with the light and dark Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends.  Add an assortment of the pearls mixed with the Gold Metallic Pearls.  Finish off with a little Basic Black Baker's Twine bow (use a glue dot to attach), and place it in your frame of choice!!

 

Truly Spooktacular fun!!  LOL  I would also add a little Clear Wink of Stella to your Witch's apron, and the bubbly brew if you were so inclined.  Just some added sparkle and fun!

Wednesday Highlight ~ Halloween Gift Box and Coordinated Card Set

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

We're back for another "catch up" post.  And it is time for our Wednesday Highlight this week.  Some Spooky Fun with the Spooky Sweets . . . A little gift box and card set that will be perfect for this Halloween . . .

 

 

 

 

Double, Double Toil and Trouble,

Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble

Fillet of a Fenny Snake

In the Cauldron Boil and Bake;

Eye of Newt and Toe of Frog

Wool of Bat and Tongue of Dog,

 

Adder's Fork and Blind-worm's Sting,

 

Lizard's Leg and Howlet's Wing,

 

For a Charm of Powerful Trouble,

 

Like a Hell-broth Boil and Bubble.

 

Well, perhaps we won't cast a spell just yet.

But this sweet little Pizza Box could hold a powerful charm of sweetness for sure!

 

I kept it simple; using a Stampin' Spritzer, I sprayed the box with a mixture of 70% alcohol and Mango Melody ink refill (approx 20 drops).

A simple square of 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" Toil & Trouble DSP;

then the largest Layering Circle Framelit out of Pumpkin Pie for the "moon";

using Smoky Slate ink (stamped off once), I added the "misty cloud" image from the Spooky Sweets stamp set across the moon, and lightly sponged around the edges (I didn't want to overdo it);

Then the bats are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and punched easy peasy with the new Spooky Bats Punch and popped with dimensionals.

The really fun part of today's project is the "spooky fence" created with the Farmhouse Framelits die set. To get this fantabulous look, lightly spritz the fence with water, and then "bend and crinkle" the posts and then let it dry.

 

The coordinated card is cut from Thick Whisper White cardstock, 4-1/4" x 11"; score at 5-1/2", and then cut the front flat at 2-3/4".

I used the largest Layering Squares Framelit and the largest Stitched Shapes square to create the over-lapped layer on the front flap for this wonderful special cut card.

 

More Toil & Trouble DSP to match the box, and a front that emulates the top of the box bring this project together.

 

The front flap is wrapped with a gorgeous piece of Black 3/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon tied in a bow.

 

But the inside of the card really is fabulous I think.

 

 The background white mat was very lightly sponged in Smoky Slate ink.

 

The front white square was again stamped with the misty clouds image in Smoky Slate; and then lightly sponged around the edges with Mango Melody to create a "glow."

 

The tree cut from Smoky Slate cardstock (again from the Farmhouse Framelits Die set), is also lightly sponged in Smoky Slate to create some shadows and distressing.

Another wonderful distressed fence; a little sentiment; and some Rhinestones and this adorable card is set to create a little charm of its own.

 

 

 

This is a wonderful way to showcase how to mix elements from other product suites to create a whole new idea./

 

 

And now I think I'm off to brew a little more trouble in my cauldron . . . er, I mean Studio (heeheehee).  See you soon my pretties!!

Mix-It Up Mondays . . . Halloween Party Favor

 

 

Hello Fellow Stampers ~~

Well, this week got off and running with a little snow, a little freezing cold, and a little behind too!!  Eeeeeek . . . goes perfectly with the time of year I think!!  LOL  So back to catch up mode; although I am making some headway on some of the projects around the house for sure!

 

I'm so excited to be jumping into the Halloween fun with both feet.  The Studio is quite a raucous mess right now - so much more to have fun my pretties!!

 

Today I have a cute little party favor to use at your Halloween party table in a couple of weeks - all done up with a decorated bamboo skewer that you can either just leave with all the pretty Halloween theme; or add names if you want to use these as a "place card" for your party table!  Let's have just a wee bit of spooky fun today!!

 

I call these my Halloween Party Favor Treat Sticks - cute as a button with our new Halloween sets; and so easy to put together with a couple of punches, and some fussy cutting here and there! 

 

 

This cutie uses the Cauldron Framelits Die to cut an adorable witches hat from the coordinated Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper.

Keeping it easy I'm punching a Starburst circle (with our Starburst Punch), and a 2" circle from Basic Black paper for each of these toppers.  SNAIL'd together and then Multi-Purpose glued to the stick, then covered from the back side with another 2" Basic Black circle to make it look nice and seamless.

I colored some Basic Rhinestones with my Dark Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Blend for these delightful embellishments!

Then -- here's something fun that you may have missed - each of these Treat Stick toppers features a sentiment from the Spooky Sweets stamp set punched out with one of our brand new "label" punches.  Have you missed these??

One is the Darling Label Punch; the other is the brand new Christmas Traditions Punch !!  I adore these and they both come in a gorgeous tin with a special coordinated photopolymer stamp set, a clear block, and 2 ink spots.  If you've missed these, run and take a look quick!!  They'd make perfect gifts this season!

Last, but not least!  Did you forget all about our adorable Cat Punch that was released last year?

Yikes!

My spooky pal is punched from Granny Apple Green cardstock, and embellished with some Blackberry Bliss and Basic Black Faceted Dots - this feline is "a-stylin'" this Halloween!!  LOL

 

I originally had thought I'd create my toppers on bamboo skewer sticks; but decided after I got started that they were a little too long for my project.  So I settled on these mini popsicle sticks (you can find these at your local hobby store).  They were the perfect size for my Halloween Party Favor cans (which I found at Hobby Lobby by the way).  What's inside??  No tricks here . . .  a mix of milk chocolate and dark chocolate Dove Halloween Candies -- yum!!

"Wicked Folds" ~ October 2018 Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop

Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~

Oh My!!  It's the Second Wednesday of October and that can mean only one thing . . .  Welcome to the Pals October 2018 Blog Hop.  As I promised yesterday, we're kicking off the spooky time of year; so watch out for “Wicked Folds” today while you hop from blog-to-blog.  I cannot promise it won't be "too" scary ~~ LOL ~~ but here today, it will be "less tricks" and "more treats."

You may be starting the hop here with me today, or you may just be arriving from Beth McCullough at Stamping Mom.  Either way, you have safely arrived for some spooktacular fun!  When you're ready, you’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move or “hop” along from Pal-to-Pal.

 

Ready to see today's fabulous project?  Here we go  . . .

 

 

 

Today I'm featuring  what I'm calling the Vertical Stretch "Wicked" Fun Fold!

 

 

This fold is easy to cut and score, and creates a really fun an fabulous "showcase" that fits right into our regular envelopes.

And look how much fun it is to decorate each panel - truly a feast for the eyes!!  A real showcase!

Besides - I'm head over witchy heels for the new Cauldron Bubble bundle - and the coordinating Toil & Trouble DSP

 

Cut your cardbase like you would a vertical top fold card - 4-1/4" x 11"; then score at 2-3/4", 4-1/4", 7-1/4", and 8-1/2"

Just make sure you fold the panels correctly (a modified Z-Fold in some ways)

Let's take a close up look at each panel.

 

Did you know that the framelits in the Cauldron Framelits set coordinate with some of the images in the Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper?

This means you can snip that adorable kitty cat right out with the framelit and never have to stamp or ink a thing!!  LOL

I did fussy cut the pumpkin from the paper - and some added Clear Wink of Stella adds a fabulous glimmer to this fun scene.

The spider web thinlit from the die set is my new favorite!!  I cut it from the new Black Foil, and attached a Spider Trinket with a glue dot.  I love this!

 

Here's another "cut out" from the paper - which means if you just don't have time to stamp and color the sweet little girl witch with your Stampin' Blends, just cut the coordinated image from the paper with the framelit, and you're set to go!  Same with my frothy cauldron.  I did stamp my frog, who thinks things look a little fishy from his perspective!

I used the wonderful banner framelit from the Take Out Thinlits to cut the "Bubble Bubble" sentiment; and the oval from the Night Owl Thinlits to cut my "no tricks" sentiment.  Do you love the rock 'n roll technique on the sentiment?  Lemon Lime Twist and Mango Melody -- what a wonderful combination!!

 

The bottom panel showcases the witch hats that are also cut out from the designer paper with the coordinating framelit.  How quick and easy!!  And there are so many wonderful hats that paper!  I'm "head over heels" or hats for these ;-)  LOL

 

Finally I created a "belly band" to hold my card closed with the new Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon.  It slides off and on nicely and holds everything in place.

I might even forego the envelope and just gift the card this way!  ;-)

 

 

 

And there you are!  How fun was that!  With the finishing touches like faceted dots and Clear Wink of Stella, this is quite the work of art.  I've got to find a place to show it off!!  Yeah!
