Hello Fellow Stampers ~
We're baaaaaccck! What a week last week. I hadn't planned on being away from the blog for so long; but best laid intentions and all!! Sigh . . . It was a busy week and things just did not quite get done the way I had planned!!
But I did get in some real "play" time last evening, including a little sewing, so I'm a happy camper again! And a tired one!! I have decided I Do Not like the the whole Spring Forward thing with the clocks. I'm getting too old for this!! LOL
I wanted to finish up my Paper Pumpkin kit from February yesterday, and thought I'd just make the last cards in the kit the way they were intended. And then, as I was sifting thru, I realized I had "pieces and parts" left from the fun Shadow Box I created and shared with you last week. I also held my Spring ASE's class (Advanced Stampin'Experts) this past Saturday, and our focus was using Vellum in your designs and different techniques you can incorporate with Vellum. We had a lot of fun!! But in looking at my "leftovers" I realized I wanted to do something else. I just love this kit so much so it seems right to try to "think outside the box" some more. And, I've had an idea I wanted to share with the Vellum that I simply did not have time to include in the class - so we're going to play with it today!!
This cut "fancy fold" card is one I came up with to fit the leftover "half" of the card front that showcases the succulents all sitting in pots and vases on a table together. I cut a piece of Gray Granite cardstock, 5-1/2" x 11"; and then I scored it at 5-1/2" and at 8-1/2". The left panel is folded in first; and the right-hand panel is then folded in over the top of it. And I sneaked in a little punched "hole" for my tie - and I'll show you that in a little bit. I love this idea!!! I don't know if it exists out there already; but I feel so ingenious!! LOL
The right-hand panel showcases the "leftover" I was trying to use. I stamped one of the sentiment near the top in Early Espresso ink. Then I chose to accent the "pop" color on the cactus with a Poppy Parade mat; and then a secondary mat in Mint Macaron. Against the Gray Granite, it is just so pretty!
When you lift the right-hand panel, you find this pretty use of Vellum. I showcased the Lovely Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on a piece of 4" x 5-1/4" Vellum cardstock - be careful! Vellum can crack "underpressure." It is backed with a matching piece of Mint Macaron (same size). I did this by "hiding" glue dots in the impressed areas so they would be seen thru the Vellum. Then the entire piece is SNAIL'd to the left-hand panel front; and finished off with those wonderful enamel shapes in the Paper Pumpkin Kit.
I kept the inside simple, with just a layered/matted center panel, lightly stamped with one of the images from the Paper Pumpkin stamp set, and left for my future use (either with another stamped sentiment, or a hand-written note).
The last thing I decided to do was wrap and tie this card "shut" with baker's twine. But I knew that I didn't want the twine to slide or fall off when someone pulled the bow. So I used my Detailed Trio Punch to punch a little slot in the edge of the right-hand panel, and after wrapping my twine around the card, it's threaded thru from both sides, and tied like you would a pair of shoes!! Yeah! Problem solved!
So cute! Now I've got another idea with some of the leftover picture panels in my kit; so who knows what happens by next week!! LOL
