Hello Fellow Stampers ~~
Welcome to a very rare weekend post! Not something we do much here at DDS Studios; especially on a cold, snowy Saturday morning when we are sipping a cup of coffee with our fee up ~~ or just being lazy in bed like a certain dawg . . . LOL
But once in awhile, we like to share . . . and today is one of those days!! So while we're recovering from wedding venue shopping yesterday (and YES! we did settle on a place ~~ but it's a secret for now!), it seems like some relaxing designing in the studio is the perfect place to be. So before I head for a session at the Day Spay, and getting my toes done, I want to share this final Sale-A-Bration focus with you -- and a fun way to showcase your designer series paper!
And Yes indeed ~~ Sale-A-Bration is Over!! Just a few hours, and we'll wave good-bye! You have until midnight Sunday night to sneak in those last orders and take advantage of Sale-A-Bration freebies and goodies!!
My final Sale-A-Bration focus to end Sale-A-Bration with a bang is the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper - a beautiful collection of paper indeed!!
And . . . today I'm going to show you how to showcase your paper so that you get to enjoy BOTH side of that gorgeous paper with a beautiful Extremely Modified Z-Fold specialty card!!
This has to be one of the coolest ideas I've seen recently - picked up from Stampin' Up! demontrator JoAnne Hewins.
But before I jump into how to make this card . . . I want to talk just a little bit about the paper -- and the Butterfly Duet Punch from the Spring Occasions Catalog which coordinates with this paper! And Yes! The punch is now back in stock!!!
You're going to see a lot of beautiful butterflies on today's card designs; and you're going to wonder how I came up with those!! No, they are not stamped!
From this paper, these butterflies are "fussy cut" -- and frankly it didn't take me all that long to cut this bunch of fluttering beauties!!
But from this paper -- these butterflies line up with the larger butterfly in the Duet Butterfly Punch. So all of these beauties have been punched - easy peasy!!
Now, if you know that punch, you know that it punches the little butterfly and the larger butterfly both at the same time.
So the easy way around this is a really simple solution -
Cut out around the butterfly you want; cut yourself like a 1/2" strip of paper, add a bit of SNAIL on the tip and attach the DSP
Then you can slide it right into the punch, line it up, and punch away!! Perfect!!
And these little cuties are all easily punched from this sweet design in the paper collection!
You will LOVE the fact that Stampin' Up! coordinated the Butterfly Duet Punch with the images in these papers!!
Let's talk about how to cut and score your designer series paper for this fancy fold before we jump in and take a closer look.
You can get 2 pieces from a 12" x 12" piece of designer series paper.
Cut each piece 5-1/4" x 11-1/2".
Then score down the long side at 4", 6-3/4", and at 9-1/2".
HOWEVER!! Let me caution you to watch any of the designs that are "directional" - like this particular piece above.
As you can see -- I wasn't paying attention and I screwed up!
First, I had to be sure I was cutting the right direction so that the butterflies were going the right way when the piece is attached to the card base, and pulled out on the folds (i.e., you fold back and forth on the score lines, and open it by pulling to the left.
The bottom piece I scored incorrectly, and the largest panel (the 4" panel) ended up on the left side instead of the right. So unless you want to open the card from the opposite direction, this piece would not work!
Since showcased this particular paper above -- we'll start with this card!
Once you've scored, you attach the back panel to a simple piece of cardstock that measures 4-1/4" x 5-1/2". That's all on the cardstock, because the rest of this card is all about the designer paper -- and don't you LOVE how this showcases both sides of your paper?
I had so much fun decorating and designing each of these cards - from deciding the coordinating pop color I wanted to showcase, right down to the little details.
When you open the card, this is what it looks like, with some special on each "facing" fold.
I think this may be my favorite just because I love this particular paper - and I love purple!!
This is the "leaf" image on one side, and the black and white butterflies on the other --
and I chose to flip and have the black and white be the primary when you open the card.
And this is the inside of this sweet card!
Here I chose Grapefruit Grove as my pop of color!
And I am showcasing a hostess set from the Annual Catalog called Very Vintage.
You may also notice I snagged a couple of my leftover vellum leaves from my project earlier this week!
Every one of these designs is special and unique in it's own way.
I'm finishing off with a birthday card - that showcases the brighter design in the paper collection.
Don't you just love it!?!
There's only HOURS left everyone!! You can still get some of this paper (don't be freaked out by the "backorder" notice that comes up on the order screen!) Be sure to get yourself an extra packet or two of this gorgeous paper before it's gone forever!!
