Hello Fellow Stampers ~
Well, here we are - the Monday AFTER Mother's Day! Wow! Did you realize it is May 13th today ?? Like May is nearly half over already!! And we have been crazy busy here at home, sorting, purging, packing, moving boxes one car load at a time!!! LOL I think about half of the DDS Studio is out and moved now -- mostly the sewing side of the studio. Pretty much all my fabric is now sitting in bins at Mike's house just waiting for that Studio to get finished!!!
Speaking of the new Studio, I'll have more pictures of progress later this week I hope. Lots has happened. All the framing is up now! The electricians have about finished - I think the lighting is going to be wonderful!! We can really see how the room is going to be laid out now which is sooo cool! Hopefully the plumbers will be in this week to cut the cement and move the sewer and water for the new powder room. I'm very excited ;-) Dry wall should come in about a week and a half!!
I had intended on sharing this card late last week in time for Mother's Day, but best laid plans and all!! You know how it goes. And it is so crazy busy around here right now, I'm having trouble keeping my head above water.
This sweet little card is made with a set that is carrying forward to our new Annual Catalog; and designer paper from Sale-a-Bration, which I just loved!! I have always loved victorian and antique tea cups, and so this set is right up my alley!! I first taught this card at my Spring card class in early April. But I've played with it and spruced it up a little since then. Let's take a quick look!
With a lovely pattern of designer paper from the Botanical Butterfly DSP from Sale-a-Bration, I think we have the perfect light lavender vintagey-looking backdrop for our little tea cup and tea pot collection! The DSP is layered on Highland Heather cardstock, and attached to a Blackberry Bliss card base.
The tea cup and tea pot are cut with the Tea Time Framelits Dies (yes, you will be seeing these in the Annual Catalog in June!!), using Shimmery White cardstock; and then stamped with the Tea Together stamp set (also carrying to the new Annual Catalog). I used a "reverse masking" technique for the stamping to keep the images from inking off the edge of the images and onto the white border left by the framelits/dies. You do this by cutting the image out of a piece of cardstock and then laying the cutout cardstock over your stamped image to cover those borders.
Using a variation of Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss, and Highland Heather Stampin' Blends, I was able to create a lovely variation of purple hues. Perfect for these "vintage" pieces! Some of my favorite colors for sure!!
I used the larger flower dies cut out to create my sentiment tucked in behind the cup. It was perfect for the effect I was looking for!
I finished off this card with Clear Wink of Stella for lots of shimmer; and a sweet Fresh Fig sheer ribbon bow (this ribbon is retiring sadly!) on the handle of my tea cup! The perfect finishing touch I think!! A few finishing pearls and this card is ready to head off to its recipient!! :-) I did indeed mail this one to a special lady!
I will not be packing most of the paper crafting side of my Studio for a little bit yet; hoping to still do some crafting and blogging before the move in June!! I'll do my best to share some fun as I am able. And of course, we have Annual Catalog Shares about to post up!!! So stay tuned!! And I'll be sharing more pictures of our progress at the new address for sure!!
Hugs, . . .
