Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
My goodness time has flown!!! We've arrived at the 2nd Wednesday of May already!!! It's time for another Stampin' Pretty Pals blog hop! And what could be better than, projects that step-it-up with "more than one score" . . . line that is. So rather than just simple cards today, you'll find inspiration galore to step up your projects!!
You may be just starting the hop here or you may have come from Sue Becker at RnR Stamping. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. When you're done perusing today's project, you’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move or “hop” along your way from Pal-to-Pal.
Today's project I'm calling "Butterfly Gift Box for Mom"!
With Mother's Day literally around the corner, I wanted something special that I could use to give a very special gift I got my Mom this year!
And this adorable little box fit the bill perfectly!!
I didn't want just some ordinary little gift box from the store -- us paper crafters have to have that handmade something extra special, right?? LOL
This one is perfect -- and this little box is so easy to whip together, you won't believe it!
Let's talk about how to make the box real quick -- and then we'll look at the fun decorating.
I modified an idea I saw from my favorite box-maker, Pootles!
And this little box is even easier than anything!
Cut a piece of cardstock 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" - just like you would for a card! I used Thick Whisper White for this project so it would be nice and sturdy!
Score it on all sides at 1-1/8".
Fold one end over to meet the score line on the opposite side and carefully crease with your bone folder.
Do exactly the same thing with the opposite side.
You'll end up with a piece like this - with two creases close together down the center.
Snip along all your score/creased lines on each side, and mitre your cuts.
Fold all your score/crease lines nicely, using your bone folder!
Assemble your box like you normally would!
Voila!
Now make it pretty -
I'm using the soon retiring Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper on my project today, and all the pieces around the outside of the box are matted with Petal Pink cardstock. Here are the measurements for your pieces:
DSP:
Top - 3" x 2-1/4"
Sides (x2) - 2-3/8" x 7/8"
Front/Back (that means you need 2) - 3" x 7/8"
Cardstock for matting:
Top - 3-1/8" x 2-3/8"
Sides (x2) - 2-1/2" x 1"
Front/Back - 3-1/8" x 1"
And what a perfect way to showcase the gorgeous Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies (carrying forward to the new Annual), all done up in our now retired Grapefruit Grove foil from Sale-a-Bration; and the soon retiring, very gorgeous Petal Pink/Whisper White 5/8" Variegated Ribbon; the also soon retiring Sweet Pins & Tags (did you see how pretty these tags are?), and the also soon retiring Petal Pink/Silver Baker's Twine (bummer! some of my favorites). We're also losing the Share What You Love Artisan Pearls that I used here (some more of my favorites!). If you don't want to miss out on these little pretties, be sure to get your order in soon!!
Note: The ribbon is actually wrapped around the lid, by SNAILing it on the inside, and carefully folding it around the edges and glue dots on the outside to it all holds in place perfectly!! So pretty, and a permanent part of the box!
I hope you enjoyed today's project! And I hope my Mom loves the box as much as what she'll find inside!! ;-)
More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Pals. Don’t forget to show us some love by commenting on our creations. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 12, 2019, when we return to share “Anything With Wings” projects. Oh My! I can hardly wait!! LOL Don’t miss the fun!
