Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
After the flurry of the past month, it's hard to believe, but we have arrived at the 2nd Wednesday of July!! My goodness! Even the 4th is behind us already!! Second Wednesday of the month means it's time for the Stampin' Pretty Pals monthly blog hop! This month we're "mixing things up" by adding texture in all kinds of interesting ways, that will really take your projects up a notch - or two! You may be starting the hop here or coming you may be coming from Jackie Beers at Blue Line Stamping. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. When you're done perusing today's project, you’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move or “hop” along your way from Pal-to-Pal.
Before we begin today, I just have to share with you that today's card design is the very first I have created in my brand new Studio ~~ and I just could not stop smiling!! I can hardly wait to share it all with you soon!!
Texture comes in all kinds of techniques and mediums. You add it on every design you make; you just may not realize it. It can be as simple as the raised impressions of an embossing folder, or as fun and varied as the card I am bringing you today!
This card is chock full of texture -- and lots of new products too!!
Let's take a closer look ;-)
First lets take a close up look at our fun anchor.
Cut with the Smooth Sailing Dies, I snuck in a piece of Rose Gold Foil left from the special kit that was available in May. But you wouldn't know it. That's because I tricked you!! LOL
I actually did something new I hadn't done before. I took a little bit of each of our embossing powders - Gold, Bronze, Silver, White & Black - and mixed them all together. Then I dipped my anchor in Versamark ink, and then dusted it with my new "mixture" emboss powder -- I adore the effect!! It actually looks like a rusty anchor that's been under water at sea for a long time!!
Then I strung a piece of the Night of Navy/Saraha Sand Baker's Twine through the hole and attached a Sail Away Trinket before tying them together with a bow.
Now let's take a look at the sentiment and the 'helm' - that's the proper name of the wheel that steers a ship.
The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and embossed with Bronze embossing powder.
Then I cut the sentiment out with this wonderful label die you'll find in the Smooth Sailing Dies set, and sponged the edges with Soft Suede ink.
The 'helm' was cut from the Rose Gold foil; and then I cut a second one from Soft Suede cardstock, snipped out the center spokes and the outer pieces, and glued it to the Rose Gold Foil wheel. Now there's a cool texture technique and so simple!!
Next up is the Lighthouse!
I stamped the Lighthouse in Night of Navy ink, then immediately dusted and heat embossed it with the new Shimmer White embossing powder. I then added some soft color with the new Seaside Spray Stampin' Blends. I love the effect - shimmer and yet kind of soft like it's caught in the mist and clouds.
The background to this card was especially fun - and I had to go poking through yet as unpacked boxes to find shimmer paints and sponge daubers -- LOL
The background is cut from Shimmer White cardstock, embossed with the brand new High Seas 3D Embossing Folder.
I then "sponged" the background using a saran wrap technique and Pacific Point, Night of Navy and Balmy Blue reinkers.
Then I came back in with a sponge dauber and White Shimmer point and re-defined the curve of the waves so they were not lost in all the inky color. The effect is extraordinary and cool! It gives the feel of an angry sea in the background without being overwhelming.
It's all finished off with a scattering of the new Woven Threads Sequin Assortment.
Oh my!! I do love how this card turned out - and it was so much fun to finally get back to creating and playing!!
This sentiment is wonderful for encouragement or inspiration; but I do believe I am going to use this for a sympathy card for someone who just lost a close family member!
I hope you had fun with me today!! More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Don’t forget to show us some love by commenting on our creations. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 14, 2019 when our Hoppin’ Pals share their “Special Occasions” projects. Don’t miss the fun!
