Hello Fellow Stampers ~
We had a somewhat quiet and restful weekend at home this past weekend. Puttering with some yard work; finally pinning down a storage unit so we can sort and move things from the basement storage room (particularly where the boys are concerned); and overall, just kind of relaxing, taking a nap, reading a book . . . I was going to get a bunch more done in my Studio than I did!! But I've decided that's okay. Sometimes we just need to rest!! LOL
I was looking at a "sampler" I did a couple of years ago when the Painted Harvest stamp set was first released. You can that HERE. I got to thinking that with Painted Harvest still with us; and a HUGE color refresh plus all brand new In Colors available to us, that perhaps it would be a good idea to play a little and present some fresh new colorway ideas for our fabulous sunflowers in this stamp set.
So here goes!!
Now remember ~ Painted Harvest is a 2-Step stamp set.
You will stamp the larger "background" flower image first; and then the slightly smaller "detailed" center flower image second.
One overlays the other. Be sure to pay attention to the little arrows on the acrylic sheet your photopolymer stamps come on (they are right next to the flower images); this tells you which direction your images should be to line them up on top of each other.
That's not to say you can't triple and quadruple stamp and shift the images around to get a beautifully layered look!
So the images above give the colors I used - background color first; detailed center color second.
Let's run through them so you can see clearly what the colors are:
First Row (from left to right): (1) Crushed Curry & Cajun Craze; (2) Pineapple Punch & Crushed Curry; (3) Merry Merlot & Cherry Cobbler; (4) Crushed Curry & Merry Merlot
Second Row (from left to right): (1) Grapefruit Grove & Terracotta Tile; (2) Mango Melody & Pumpkin Pie; (3) Petal Pink & Rococo Rose; (4) Grapefruit Grove & Calypso Coral
Third Row (from left to right): (1) Poppy Parade & Blackberry Bliss; (2) Terracotta Tile & Cajun Craze; (3) Pineapple Punch & Mango Melody; (4) Cherry Cobbler & Blackberry Bliss
All flower centers are either Crushed Curry or Soft Suede.
I find when working color combinations that this image works better if you put the lighter/brighter color down first, and the darker/bold color down second. Your images will pop and look better; otherwise they may come out mottled if you do it the other way and you will not like the result!
That being said -- experiment! We have so many beautiful ink colors - and I love a lot of these combinations I came up with in the sampler above!!
Hugs, . . .
