Hello Fellow Stampers ~
Howdy Howdy!! I had intended this project and post to be last week's CASE-Out Thursday post; but, . . . the best laid plans. And since I kind of played with the project and made it my own, I thought I'd just share it for today's Mix-It Up Monday's post.
I'm also happy to announce that as of right now, it looks like I only need a root canal on a tooth that I didn't realize was the "culprit" to all my pain and yuckiness; and that the upper tooth, at least at this time, appears to be fine!! So no extractions, surgeries, implants . . . . yikes!! I'm a happy camper -- LOL; considering I'm facing a root canal on Wednesday!! LOL This has definitely been making me feel "sick" though; so I'm actually going to be glad to just get this procedure done and start feeling better I hope!
Today's project features the Painted Harvest stamp set which I was just so happy to see carried forward in our Annual Catalog this year. It is definitely one of my favorites from the "past." And since we're playing with Sunflowers to celebrate the month of August, I think it only appropriate to pull out the quintessential sunflower set!! 😊
As I said earlier, I had intended this design for last week's CASE-Out; but the post just never got finished and up.
So this will look similar to a SU! catalog project, with some fun twists added for a "Wendy card" - LOL
With Fall approaching, now is when I get to play with some of my favorite colors, and color combinations.
You MUST try the new Terracotta Tile with Poppy Parade!! They are Fabulous!!
This is a card with a lot more interesting layers and detail than you may see in the picture. So let me talk you through a few of them.
The card base is a 8-1/2" x 11", scored at 4-1/4" piece of Poppy Parade.
There is a background layer of Whisper White cut 4" x 5-1/4".
Then there is a second piece of Whisper White that is cut 3-1/4" x 3-7/8". This piece was embossed with the Layered Leaves 3D Embossing Folder (this is so new that the Item # is not in the product listing below yet - Item #152321 if you need it). Then a piece of Whisper White approximately 1-1/2" x 3-7/8" was "torn" on it's long edge to create weathered antiqued look and attached just behind on the right-hand side edge of the 3-1/4" x 3-7/8" piece to make it approximately 3-1/2" long now. Then this was attached to the larger Whisper White piece.
This picture gives you a little bit closer look at what I'm talking about. You can see the torn edge tucked behind the embossed layer; and all of that attached to the larger Whisper White background behind it.
Next I laid down a piece of Vellum measuring 1-1/4" x 5-1/2" on the Whisper White layers; and then wrapped everything with a piece of 1/8" Gold Cord (which I think is retired actually). Then I attached the entire finished layers to the front of the card base.
Now it's fun with sunflowers - and these 2-step flowers from the Painted Harvest stamp set are so much fun to play with.
I first stamped the "larger" flower image on Shimmery White cardstock in Terracotta Tile; and then the detailed stamp flower image (the smaller one) in Poppy Parade over it. The effect is gorgeous!! I originally had two flowers done with the Terracotta Tile and Poppy Parade inks; and then decided I had to have a yellow sunflower.
So the second flower is done in Crushed Curry (for the first stamp), and Mango Melody (for the detailed second stamp). Aren't these flowers pretty?? They are both fussy cut out - doesn't take that long to do!
Even more fun! I stamped the centers with Versamark on Shimmery White cardstock, and embossed them with the emboss powder mixture I made for the "anchor" in this project. Then I fussy cut the center for each and attached it to the center of the flowers with SNAIL. I love how the "mixed" embossing powders toned down the center of this sunflower and made it look more realistic!!
The "detailed" stamp for the leaves was also stamped with Versamark on Shimmery White cardstock, embossed with my emboss powder mixture and easily punched out with the Leaf Punch. I punched several more leaves from Vellum and from Gold Glimmer paper.
Then I was ready to layer and attach to the card front. The yellow sunflower is popped with dimensionals.
The sentiment is also stamped in Versamark and embossed with my powder mixture. The piece is a 1" x 3" banner that was punched with the Banner Triple Punch for an easy "tail." This is also popped with dimensionals over the gold cord - do this before you layer on your sunflowers/leaves.
I finished things off by picking up some Crushed Curry ink with an Aqua Painter and "flicking" it across my card front for a fun splatter effect.
And then you are getting a sneak peak and some brand new products that you haven't even seen yet!! LOL
The Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels are available in the new 2019 Holiday Occasions Catalog!! What a perfect finish to my card with the perfect colors!!
I hope you enjoyed this "late" post; and feel all inspired now to pull out your Painted Harvest sets and just play play play!!! LOL I think that since we have all new color collections, it might be time for me to experiment again with different combinations. These definitely were just glorious!! Have a wonderful day -- and I'll be back soon with updates!
Hugs, . . .
