Hello Fellow Stampers ~
Well my goodness!! Quite unplanned, I suddenly disappeared last week!! LOL Between trying to recover from Thanksgiving (that's another story for another day), getting the Christmas decorating under control and finished (this is one BIG house!!), and getting sick, all of a sudden the week was gone and I hadn't been able to do what I wanted to in the Studio as usual!! Yikes!
But as of December 10th I can tell you that the Christmas decor around the house is up and it is beautiful; I am almost done with my Christmas shopping and some of it is even already wrapped and delivered where it is supposed to be; and I might even be able to sit down and get that Christmas newsletter written this week! Whew! It's time to bring you some fun ideas to finish out our holiday time together this year!!
I'm sure we have all seen ideas around the internet to create a poinsettia using the Rooted in Nature stamp set, and even incorporating the Nature's Roots dies; I'm going to take you to the next level today!
What is so cool about doing this is the ease with which you can pull this off by simply using the largest "embossing" leaf in the Nature's Roots Dies set and the frame die that goes around it to cut it out (Note that there are 2 dies involved here to accomplish these "petals" ~ the emboss die and the framelit cut out die).
I cut a total of 12 Real Red "petals"; and 3 Shaded Spruce "leaves" for my poinsettia.
Then I sponged the edges of the Real Red petals with Cherry Cobbler ink; and the Shaded Spruce leaves with Shaded Spruce ink to add some depth and dimension. I also took my Simply Scored stylus and ran it down the center of each leaf to "increase" the score and make the petal/leaf a little more "bendable/foldable."
Then - for added extra fun - I "rubbed" each petal/leaf across the surface of my Glitzy Gold Delicata ink pad (I know - they're sold out and gone! Order one on Amazon - LOL) to "just grab" some delicate gold vintage color on each piece. Don't press "hard" -- just enough to get a little bit of that ink on there. It looks so cool!!
From there it's about assembling -- which is super easy!
Punch a 2" circle with your 2" circle punch from Real Red cardstock - and pull out that glue gun!
I arranged 7 petals around the 2" circle (folding/curving each petal slightly on the center score line).
Then I arranged the last 5 petals on top - meeting all the points in the center - which is finished off with a Gold Faceted Gem!
Then I tucked the 3 leaves underneath around the edge so they would peek out!
Finally, I stamped the greeting from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set in Real Red classic ink on Whisper White cardstock; and punched out with the Classic Label Punch and attached it into my flower with a few glue dots!
The piece is actually pinned onto the back board for the shadow box - so you can't see the pins.
And I finished off by tucking some Gold Foil "swirls" cut using the Stitched Stars dies.
What a perfect piece of artwork for the wall or shelf display!
It can be difficult to get a picture of a piece of framed art once that glass is in place; it can cast a bad glare and reflect everything around it!
So this isn't the most perfect photo - but it gives you an idea of how the finished piece looks in the shadow box frame.
I really love how this turned out ~ and I think it makes an incredible gift for someone wonderful this Christmas.
Literally, it took me less than hour to put this together ~ while I was watching NCIS ~ LOL.
So don't be "scared" . . . give it a try and whip a couple together for gifts this holiday!
I Love to hear from you. Leave your questions or comments below!! Happy Shopping!!! 😉
Hugs, . . .
