Well, My Goodness!!  I hadn't really planned on being "quiet" all this past week and weekend!!!  I've lost a little bit of my creative energy and drive.  How about the rest of you?? 

It was another "up and down" week this past week, what with this coronavirus thing; and worrying about mom.  We thought we were heading the hospital yesterday for her first procedure; but by last Wednesday evening, the heart surgeon had consulted with us; and confirmed on Thursday morning that we are now waiting.  He feels the hospitals have too many Coronavirus cases now and it is too risky for her to be there.  He is adamant that she cannot catch this virus.  So we're keeping her pretty close to home; and I'm trying to do all the running for her and meet her needs best I can.

The other thing I learned in the past week is that, although someone may purport themselves to be reaching out to you "In His Name" . . . in fact, their attitudes and responses are not "Christ-like" at all.  And anyone who knows me, knows that I take things pretty personally.  So it's been a "growing experience" for me to realize that there are folks out there who really don't care what you are actually going through in your own life; AND it's been a good reminder to me and I think to all of us that we don't really know what the next person may be going through or experiencing in the midst of this pandemic.  We need to remember "Kindness" and "Graciousness" during this time.  I for one want to remember that each of you have your own stress and difficulties during this time . . . and I want you to know that I DO care; and I am here to listen, care, and pray for you if I can!!  So BIG hugs from me AND from Sadie Ann 🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶

So Saturday ~~ Mom's Big Magnolia Birthday Card!

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Is everyone staying sane??  It has ended up being a little bit busier Saturday than I had originally imagined, what with being cooped up and all. 

Today is my mother's 78th birthday!!!  And a strange birthday it is turning out to be for her indeed.  It makes us all a little sad.  But we are making the best of it that we can.  My brother and sister-in-law stood on her front porch this morning and sang Happy Birthday to her and brought her a little "mini" cake, dinner all planned and ready, and of course, some presents to cheer her day!!  And she's been receiving LOTS of phone calls!

I originally had planned on her being here with us for dinner this evening; but we decided this morning that maybe she should just stay put for now.  I struggled with some grocery shopping for her this morning (that is truly a nightmare these days!!); and then I went over this afternoon to take her a birthday gift .  .  .  and of course, a hand made birthday card!

 

Inspired by something I saw online, I sat down with the Good Morning Magnolia set (one I haven't used in awhile), and created what I hope will feel like "spring" for her and cheer her up on this strange and sort of sad birthday this year!!  Coronavirus has certainly impacted everything in our lives!!

 

This card is cut from Thick Whisper White cardstock, 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2".

The main colors on this card are Purple Posey, both in the background layering and on the flower; using stampin' blends in Purple Posey & Highland Heather; Mossy Meadow and Old Olive for the leaves.

 

In the background I cut a piece of Purple Posey cardstock, 3-3/4" x 5"; then layered over it with a "distressed-edged" piece of Best Dressed designer series paper in a tone-on-tone Purple Posey; and a piece of the Purple Posey Vellum out of the Sale-a-Bration So Very Vellum Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Lots of nice texture to the background of this card.

The gorgeous flower is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, colored; then cut with the Magnolia Memory Dies.  Although this flower is stamped on Shimmery White cardstock, I can never have enough shimmer ~ so I added Clear Wink of Stella to the flower petals. 😉😉😉

I layered a scalloped rectangle in the back of the magnolia flower using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies; and tucked behind flower cutouts from the Magnolia Memory Dies again.

Then the piece is finished with a pretty sentiment from the Varied Vases Stamp Set, and cut using the Stitched Labels Dies.

A piece of the Purple Posey 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon is tucked behind the label.

 

I picked another stamp set to finish the inside of the card ~ Beautiful Friendship!

It worked like "Perfectly" for this!!

The floral image stamped in the background is done in Purple Posey and just "kissed" to the paper to keep it light.

And the sentiment is in Highland Heather - so pretty!!

 

I know I don't often post on weekends; but it seems like we could some extra inspiration these days!

Fabulous Friday Fun ~~ Ornate Garden Suite Sneak Peek!!

How is everyone?  I ended up, unplanned, skipping yesterday's blog post.  That had not been my original intention; but later in the afternoon, I decided to hold until today what I had planned for my sneak peak and Facebook Live!  Sooooooooo . . .  I'm really VERY excited about what's coming and am looking forward to sharing with you!! 

But, today, expect TWO blog posts from me!!  We'll start with introducing the Ornate Garden Suite .  .  .   Talk about the Facebook Live later today; and then later I'm going to start introducing you to snippets from the DDS Studio, and a special "sale" that just started at Stamp-n-Storage today!!  This is the PERFECT time to organize your craft spaces, and take advantage of everything Stamp-n-Storage has to offer!!

Let's do a "shortened" version of today's CASE-Out in preparation for later 😊😊

 

Measurements

• Melon Mango cardstock base:  4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2"
  
• Early Espresso cardstock:  4" x 5-1/4"; scrap for die cut out
  
• Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper:  3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
  
• Shimmery White cardstock:  2-1/2" x 1-1/8"
  
• Crumb Cake cardstock:  3" x 1/2"
  

Directions

• Fold the Mango Melody 4-1/4" x 11" cardstock base on the 5-1/2" score line (bump to the inside); gently burnish with your bone folder!
  
• Attach the designer paper to the Early Espresso cardstock using SNAIL; then attach to the cardbase front with SNAIL.
  
• Die cut the smaller floral Ornate Layer die from Early Espresso cardstock.
• Stamp the single-stem daisy from the Ornate Style Stamp Set in Early Espresso ink on the Shimmery Cardstock piece; then color with Mango Melody Stampin' Blends, Old Olive Stampin' Blends, and the Light Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend.
• Attach finished stamped/colored piece to the die cut Early Espresso piece using SNAIL.  Attach to the front of the card base using dimensionals.
• Tie a bow from the Old Olive Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack, and attach to the "stem" of the flower with glue dots.
• Stamp the "you made my day" sentiment from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set in Early Espresso classic ink on the Crumb Cake cardstock strip.  Snip an "angle" at each end of the banner (see sample).
• Attach to the card front with double-stacked mini dimensionals.
• Finish off with Gilded Gems and Clear Wink of Stella.

Ask Wendy Wednesdays - Wednesday Highlight!

Hello Fellow Stampers!!!

Whew!  Well, here we are!!  It took me a bit longer than I planned to get this little "Ask Wendy Wednesdays" video uploaded; technology can be interesting!

Things are changing so quickly with the coronavirus; even for Stampin' Up!, that it can be difficult to keep up!

Just a few notes we received from Stampin' Up! today ~~ they have been changing their protocols, which include alternating shifts/days for the warehouse pick lines, and the stamp manufacturing center in Kanab.  This means that efficiencies may be slowed and it may take a little longer to get your order shipped to you.  Please be patient. This about keeping people safe; not being in a hurry!!  Don't hesitate to reach out to me with questions if you're wondering about your order, or one of our products, etc.  I'm here to help!!

 

In the meantime, I had a question about the labels on our new classic ink pads several weeks back; and I wanted to take some time to finally answer and showcase that.  I'm also giving a couple of other tips regarding our ink pads in today's video.  So I hope this will be helpful and informational.
