Well, here we are!!  😁😁  Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!!! 🍀☘🍀

 

 

Before we jump into Stampin' Up! stuff today, I want to take a moment and address our situation around the country (& world).  I know how I've shared with you what an interesting (and at times stressful) several days we've had here.  I'd love to hear how things are going for all of you!  Let's share and support each other through this difficult time.

Each day each of us is experiencing new developments where we live ~ events being cancelled, businesses closing, extra precautions to keep public areas germ-free as possible, social distancing, asking people to "isolate" and stay away from public venues, etc . . .

As we adjust and learn how to cope during this outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, I wish you all the best of health.  Please stay safe and do what you can to keep others around you safe and healthy.

A huge thank you to those of you who are in the health/medical fields, those involved in decision-making and trying to do the right thing to keep us safe, those that keep our food and supplies available, and those that continue to care for others.

Mix-It Up Mondays ~~ Rise & Shine for St. Paddy's Day!!

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Well, after another strange day ~ moving or cancelling appointments, going to one last chiropractic appointment, and an unplanned stop at Costo ~ we are trying to settle in and find a "normal" schedule!!  LOL  I had to take Sadie Ann for a walk this afternoon and get myself out in the fresh air!  I'm already feeling cooped up!!  😂🤣😂

 

Late this afternoon, I kind of forced myself to start finding my way back through some items that had gotten backed up in the Studio; and try to find that creative mojo again!  It's going to take a little bit I think; but together we will try to find some fun together to keep each other motivated, creative, and distracted from the silliness going on outside our front doors right now!  I have some things to share tomorrow, that I hope will help!!

In the meantime . . . it's time for St. Patrick's Day!!!  And in this house that means a crock pot with a wonderful Corned Beef roast marinating away in potatoes, carrots, a beer broth and topped off with cabbage of course; and other fun stuff to go with!!  I'm thankful I actually started planning for my annual St. Patrick's Day feast several weeks ago already, and didn't have to worry about finding the fixings over this past strange weekend!!

I've been thinking about this card design for several weeks now; ever since I realized we had the perfect "words" tucked away in the Word Wishes Dies!  Did you miss that??  It's easy to forget all the wonderful nuggets in our Annual Catalog products!

 

You can't have a "Paddy's Day" design without the requisite gold and green; and this card has plenty of both, thanks to the wonderful foil and glimmer papers in our arsenal!!

But before I break down the fun for you, let's talk a little about layout inspiration, because it's one of the things I hope to share with you as we get our creativity back while "isolating" in our homes!

I am a faithful follower of Julie Tillman and her Poetic Artistry blog.  Now Julie is NOT a Stampin' Up! demonstrator; but she does give me lots of inspiration, ideas . . . and every couple weeks she puts up some wonderful card layout idea sketches.  Tomorrow, in our Terrific Tuesdays post, I'll give you a link to my Pinterest Board where you can get more layout inspiration.

I fashioned today's card after this layout.  The point of a sketch layout is to use the inspiration; not necessarily take it literally.  Can you see the inspiration of this layout in today's card design??

Now let's break it back down for everyone!

This card base is cut from Very Vanilla cardstock, 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2".

The gorgeous Old Olive design foil from the Noble Peacock Specialty Designer Series Paper was matted out with a piece of Gold Glimmer Paper.

Technique Tip:  When adhering foil against Glimmer Paper like this, SNAIL is not a good choice.  You need a heavier adhesive that is going to hold the two mediums together.  Use your Tear 'n Tape to get that good grip and assure a permanent stick!

I wrapped those layers with a brand new ribbon that I will be introducing to you later this week!!  Stay tuned!!

Then I finally, finally pulled out that brand Sale-A-Bration set, Rise & Shine, and had a ball!!

This cup is stamped in Old Olive classic ink.  (Don't forget your Cup of Cheer Dies from the holiday catalog ~ still available to go with this new stamp set!!)

But ~~  hint hint ~~ there is an adorable little "drop" in this stamp set (like a water drop or rain drop if you want to look at it that way), and I used that in Mossy Meadow ink to create my 4-Leaf Clover in the center of the cup.  Then I snagged some of my retired Gold Wink of Stella to add some shimmer to the center off each "leaf."  How cute is that!!

That wonderful Stitched So Sweetly Dies set is in full use here with the Gold Foil background; and the cut out for the sentiment; which is from Itty Bitty Greetings by the way -- did you miss that cute little saying in that set??

The fun part of this is the word die cut outs using Old Olive Green Foil from the Noble Peacock Foil Sheets.

Boy Oh Boy!!  We have GOT to get back into that Annual Catalog!!!  So many wonderful products we're "ignoring"!!  LOL

 

Finished off with a pretty bow and Old Olive green rhinestones from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones collection, how much fun would be to have this card in your mailbox tomorrow morning!!  😁😁😁

 

I hope you saw the card sketch inspiration in this layout; and are lovin' the St. Patrick's Day creativity!  I'm gonna showcase this one on my hearth for sure!!

Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop Mystery Blog Candy Giveaway

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

First, I want to apologize for not getting the Winner of my Mystery Blog Candy for this last week's Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop up on Friday like it was supposed to be.

Things have been a little chaotic and stressful around here the past 3 to 4 days; ever since things started to heighten with this Coronavirus epidemic and all that is going with that.  Starting with our own stepped up awareness here at home, a stressful week at work where I was moving my office from one campus to another; worried that we get that done before the company might shut us down and tell us to work from home; and then starting to see the reaction of society around us and what was happening out our local grocery store(s) and other areas.

Then on Friday I went with my mom to a scheduled doctor's appointment with a heart surgeon.  We have just learned that she has a murmur in her aortic valve; and the doctor informed us that he considers her to be in the "severe" category and he wants to do surgery on her by mid-April.  Thus, she is now considered at her age (in her late 70's) to be in the "at risk" category for this virus, and he wants her to isolate at home and stay out of the public until we get her through this situation.  Thus, I now have to be especially vigilant for my own health even more as I have to be healthy to care for her.

We've spent a great deal of time over these past 3 days dealing with the grocery situation and making sure that both her, and us here, have proper food in place (and I'm NOT talking about the horrific hoarding we're seeing going on), and just get her in a position that she is comfortable in her house; and we can "social distance" and quarantine to a certain level ourselves.

This has been difficult, stressful, and terribly upsetting.  So please keep us all in your prayers.

 

In the meantime, our company has directed us late this afternoon to begin working with our managers to shift work schedules and work from home as much as possible - which is what I will be doing for the foreseen future.  So now that we're settling into being home 24/7 and only going out as needed, I think I can shift my focus back to the Studio, and other daily tasks.  I hope to get back to some sort of schedule tomorrow morning!

"Critter Cards" - March 2020 Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop

Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~

We've arrived at the 2nd Wednesday of March!!  We've been having a taste of Spring here in Colorado; but the warnings of snow on the way next week are in the air . . .  😉😉

It's time to play with the Stampin' Pretty Pals and I'm really excited about our "Critter Cards" theme this month!!   To celebrate this special milestone, many of the design team members are offering “Mystery Blog Candy” of their choice to 1 lucky winner. To play along, just leave a comment on as many blog posts as desired.  A random winner will be announced on a subsequent blog post by each participating design team member.  

You may be starting the hop here or you may be hopping over from Amanda Merrill at Inkflair.    Either way, you’ve come to the right place.  When you're done perusing today's project, you’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move or “hop” along your way from Pal-to-Pal.  You'll notice a date following each bloggers name in the Hop List; this is the date when each blogger first joined the Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop; and will tell you how long some of us have been around!!  LOL

We have lots of wonderful "critters" to choose from among our product line.  So making a choice for today's design was a little difficult; but in the end I settled on an adorable set I haven't gotten a chance to play with yet ~~ straight from our Annual Catalog ~~ called Back On Your Feet.  Cuteness abounds in this stamp set; and it's perfect for all those "get well/feel better soon" occasions!!

 

I created a "flip fold" card for this design.

I cut Mint Macaron cardstock, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2".  Then I scored down the long side (8-1/2" side) at 2-1/2" and at 6-1/2".

Then I layered out with Very Vanilla, Garden Green & Mosaic Mood Specialty DSP.

What I love about this pattern in this designer series paper collection is the "tropical leaf" feel that gives the perfect backdrop for our sad little sloth!

 

Our little sloth was stamped with Early Espresso classic ink on Shimmery White cardstock - and die cut with our fabulous Stitched so Sweetly dies.

Mr. Sloth is colored with Soft Suede Stampin' Blends; and I shaded around our sloth with Light Mint Macaron, giving that nice background shading and color.

 

I shaded around the sentiment in the same fashion; which really gives it a cool look!

The paper I used on the inside of the card is from the Garden Lane DSP; which has this fabulous leaf pattern which I thought was the perfect accent to offset the outside of the card
