Well, Spring (AND apparently Summer) have arrived here in Littleton, Colorado!!! LOL Hard to believe that 2 weeks ago we were drowning under 20 inches of snow!! That's Colorado for you. But the grass is turning green; I planted pansies in my planters this past weekend; and I'm trying to nurse my pots of geraniums back to life from sitting in the cold garage all winter. Spring always holds such "promise" of new life for me!
Spring also ALWAYS brings the Retiring Products lists from Stampin' Up! Which ALWAYS brings with it a little disbelief; and even some sadness as I see much loved "Favorites" being sent off into the sunset. Today's Spotlight Feature is one of those sets that ranks at the top of my "favorites list" and I'm VERY sad to see leaving us!!
This Little Piggy is just one of those cute, sweet little "must have" stamp sets that I have not used nearly enough!
Today, I have combined my design with the new designer series paper from the Ornate Garden Suite that you are getting a chance to order early before the new Annual Catalog comes out on June 3rd.
I thought this happy little Spring piggy with her daisy, went perfectly with the daisy pattern in this paper. I added the punched out daisy to add dimension, texture and interest to the design. The daisy was punched twice with the Medium Daisy Punch from Shimmery White cardstock; then I gently sponged the edges of the petals with Daffodil Delight ink. The two daisys are adhered together with glue dots, offsetting the petals to give a fuller look to the flower. I added leaves using the Leaf Punch (which is also soon retiring!) Then a Crushed Curry center by punching a circle with the 1/2" circle punch (one of the retired's in my stash). If you use your bone folder and gently curve the petals downward with your thumb, you create a nice dimension. Put a dimensional in the center back, and it sits perfectly.
So, yes!! The piggy panel is also popped with dimensionals so the flower can sit behind it.
Miss Piggy was "fussy-inked" (yes, that's My term!! LOL), using a Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker (so that I could avoid inking the sentiment on the stamp); then stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock, and cut out using the Stitched So Sweetly dies. I colored with Stampin' Blends; and literally pounced my sponge daubers (no rubbing here) in Seaside Spray, Granny Apple Green, and Daffodil Delight to create the background color around my piggy.
The sentiment is inked separately with a Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Marker, and punched with the Classic Label Punch.
You will need to double-up the dimensionals on the right-hand side (mini dimensionals) to keep the tag at the right level.
I put extra detail to the inside of my card - more than usual.
For example, I put a coordinating design from the paper collection on the left-hand panel; something I don't usually do, but I felt inspired!! 😀😀
The the left-hand panel is "extra" special -- because I want to give this to my sweetie to cheer him up with all this "staying at home" no fun business going on!!
I inked this piggy up the same as the front of the card (again a "fussy-ink" to avoid the sentiment).
And created the same colored ink background sky and grass look by "pouncing" my sponge daubers.
I hope my honey likes his Spring Piggy card -- LOL
And I hope you all enjoyed today's project as well.
Don't miss out on this sweet stamp set; or the Leaf Punch!!
When they are sold out; or the end of May arrives -- they are all gone!!
I Love to hear from you. Leave your questions or comments below!!
