Hello Fellow Stampers ~
Happy Monday ~~ after a long 4th of July weekend!! We ended up pretty much staying close to home; taking some nice long walks with Sadie Ann, and a little bit of a hike in South Valley Park yesterday. It was a nice quiet weekend together. Not our usual 4th of July with the Jet Cars and wonderful fireworks at Bandimere Speedway; but . . . we'll just have to look forward to next year!!
What do you do when a designer series paper is so spectacular, it stands on its own??
Why you find a way to showcase it, of course!! 😉😉
Today I have a Tri-Fold Shutter card for you that is ALL about the incredible Whale of a Time designer series paper!
This paper is so incredible, I cannot stop looking at it!! Literally, you nearly not have to do any stamping at all, that's how fabulous this paper is!
So I decided that this "fancy fold" card was a great way to display it; and build upon it!!
A Tri-Fold Shutter card is really a cool card!
The back-and-forth folds create a spectacular "stand up" card that is so fun to decorate.
To create a Tri-Fold like this, you really need 12" x 12" cardstock to start (making it with 8-1/2" x 11", is a little more complicated).
I used Pretty Peacock 12" x 12" here. Let's run through the quick measurements ~
Cut: 5-1/2" x 12"
Score: 2", 4", 8" & 10" down the long / horizontal side
Cut Inside: -- Cut in 1-1/2" from each long side between the 2" and 10" score lines
You will fold "peaks and valleys", alternating the center section so it "pops forward" when the other sections "pop backward".
This is how the card looks when it's all folded in place.
I measured each separate panel to create the matting in Just Jade cardstock; and then the foreground of the designer papers.
As you can see, the paper is made to look like you're under the ocean water, with all sorts of wonderful seaweed, crabs, shells, etc.
I then used other pieces of the paper to punch out the whales with the Whale Builder Punch; and fussy cut the sea turtles -- easy to do!!
For the very center panel, I took a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and sponged it with Pool Party and Just Jade inks.
Then I pulled out the fabulous Whale Done stamp set and did some stamping - including the sentiment. - what I love is how the stamp set and paper are really meant to be together!!
Here's a closer look at the back two panels with the fussy cut turtles; and the punched whale -- I am swoooning!! I love this paper so much!!
On the back center panel I created another piece of Shimmery White for a personal note to be written to the recipient.
Take another close up look when the card is folded "closed" and you can see how I embellished with Holiday Rhinestone Jewels for some added extra fun! You can also use the Whale of a Time Sequins to do this as they have the perfect look and colors to accent your design!!
Hope you had fun with today's design ~~ be sure to grab the Whale of a Time Suite for yourself!!
I Love to hear from you. Leave your questions or comments below!!
Hugs, . . .
