Hello Fellow Stampers ~
Happy Monday everyone! Well, I had a busy weekend in the Studio, inbetween Puppy Bowl XVII Fun, and my husband glued to the Super Bowl -- LOL. I made a new 5-Bean Lime Cilantro Salad recipe a friend gave me; and I have to say, I'm totally in love with it!! It's delicious! It's cold outside, and very windy . . . but we're snug as bugs inside, and designing away, sewing too! And having a lot of fun!
I missed finishing out the week last week with all of you the way I wanted, so today is a little bit of a "catch up" post of just pure fun!!! I'm sure some of you have already seen the BIG news of our VERY special release last week, so let's just jump right in and chat about it together!! 😁😁
When I first saw the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set in our new catalog, I was like, ooooooohhhhhh, the "Chicks" are back!! For those who were not following Stampin' Up! in 2017, we got the cutest stamp set for Sale-A-Bration that year, that everyone loved.
So imagine my surprise, when we received word that Stampin' Up! was planning to not only bring back the original Hey Chick Stamp Set, but also provide new dies for both that set and the new Hey Birthday Chick set!! Whooo Hoooooooo -- what fun!! And let me tell you, it really is!!
So, were you like me, and let your cute "Chicks" go to make room for new things? Yikes!! I've learned my lesson - LOL
If you still have your "Chicks", you can snag just the new dies to go with the set.
If you let go of your "Chicks", you can order the new bundle and "get it all."
And did you snag that "Birthday Chicks" the minute you saw it?? LOL
Well, here too you can get just the dies now that they are available; or if you waited, you can buy the whole thing in the bundle!
Either way, you will definitely need both the die sets, because there are features in both to create your entire barnyard scene.
For example, in this set of dies, there are the "hen scratches" you can emboss into the "dirt"; and the cute bag of feed. There's also an adorable bow tie to "dress" your chicks out of either stamp set!!
For today's card I cut a card base from Cinnamon Cider cardstock, 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2"; and a mat piece from Bumblebee. Then I used our Watercolor 100 paper to create the main scene.
I used our new Blending Brushes and worked on Balmy Blue on the top; Daffodil Delight on the bottom, overlapping the blue, which nicely created a soft green in the central area; and then added some Crumb Cake along the bottom over the Daffodil Delight. This created a lovely background work all the fun die cuts. I also used the "hen scratches" emboss piece from the second set of dies to imprint in the "dirt."
I cut the "chicken wire" fence in the background from Silver Foil; then I cut the hen house from Cinnamon Cider; cut it a second time from Smoky Slate and cut out the roof line, etc., and glued them over the original hen house; then cut it a second time from Soft Suede and cut out the door frame and upper window and glued those down separately as well.
Corn stalks, and corn cobs, and corn seeds, oh my!!
And then there's Mr. Chick himself, here to give a greeting!
Playing and piecing with dies like this can be a ton of fun; and give you huge opportunities for creativity!
Don't miss out on these two fabulous new sets!! 😊😊😊
Valentine fun is coming!!! Stay tuned for more 😉😉😉
