Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~~
Happy Hump Day! And Welcome to DDS Studios "Not In the Blog Hop" post for the month of February 2021. You may have noticed that I did not participate in last month's Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop like I have every month for the past 7 years. After a chat with Mary Fish, I have decided to refresh my blog posts for 2021, and do some things differently. For the time being, that means, with Mary's blessing, I will not be participating in the actual Blog Hop for awhile. I will offer my own take on the current theme (or other theme of my choosing) for the current month; but will not be adding it to the actual Blog Hop line up. This frees me up from restrictions being in the actual Blog Hop impose.
So if you visit with me most days, and maybe came over from the Hop last year and have stayed ~~ I'm thrilled. If you have stumbled upon today's blog post without "hopping" from the Pals Blog Hop, then I'm just so very happy you are here!! This month's theme revolved around birthdays; and I just happened to design a card over the weekend that carries a "Valentine" birthday theme -- how fun to combine both together, don't you think? 😉😉😉
This design showcases some of the products from the new Fine Art Floral Suite; a suite of products I haven't played with a whole lot yet; but oh my, there is so much potential here!! We will definitely be playing with creativity from this suite going into the Spring.
Today's card base is cut from Mossy Meadow cardstock, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4", with the fold to the top.
Then I laid a back mat of Mossy Meadow that was embossed with the Lace 3D embossing folder.
The overlaying designer paper is from the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper. I created a gentle "crease" and then curved it with my bone folder to create a turned down flap that shows a peek of the embossing behind.
The layers are wrapped with the Fine Art 3/8" Ribbon and a bow.
The corner of the "flap" is covered (or held down, however you want to look at it), with a layered heart set (using the Heart Punch Pack), which was stamped with the "Happy Birthday" from the Art Gallery stamp set, and the 2-step flowers from that same set - done in Blushing Bride and Rococo Rose. The hearts are on dimensionals - I could hear some of you asking - LOL 😉😉
I have included pieces from the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, and Gold Metallic Pearls to finish it all off.
On the inside I used the new Gilded Leafing in the 2-step stamping on the flower spray. Oh my! If you haven't tried this yet, it's a MUST! You are going to love this embellishment and the effect it leaves!
So if you have a Valentine birthday in the house . . . what better way to wish that special person a very special day!!
I Love to hear from you. Leave your questions or comments below!!
Hugs, . . .
