Hello Fellow Stampers ~
Oh my ~~ the best laid plans and all, as they say!! 😁😁 I had such good plans for last week; funny how that happens!! LOL
But now, I sent my hubby off to Las Vegas for a few days to get him out of my hair (haha), and the puddy dawg is off to daycare to play with her boyfriend, Chubbs. And so I have the house to myself, peace & quiet; and a list a mile long of things I want to get done (inbetween actually working my "real job"!). This should be interesting - haha.
The card I have for you today has been on my work table for over a week now. I started playing with this fun shabby chic-style card (one of my favorite type of designs to create), and then got waylaid last week and never got it finished and posted up. So, my bad!! But here it is -- and boy am I excited to finally be sharing some fun with you using the Fine Art Floral Suite from our Spring Occasions Catalog!
This fun Birthday card was inspired by several different designs in our fabulous catalog, and online. I took a number of ideas and "meshed" them to create this fun work of "Art" (see how I did that?!) LOL
I'll walk you through the layers and steps so you can get a closer look and feel of how I put this together!
I don't often cover the entire front of my card with DSP; as you all know, I'm a layer girl! But for this card, the layers will come in a slightly different format!
So the front of this card base is covered with a beautiful piece of Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper - 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".
The next layer to this card is also a background layer -- this one cut from Watercolor Paper 3-5/8" x 4-3/4". It has been die "impressed" with the fun Stitched With Whimsy dies (I say "impressed" because these dies cut a stitched line into the cardstock; they don't "cut out" a shape!); then watercolored with Pool Party classic ink.
I then stamped an image from the Art Gallery stamp set, using Pear Pizzazz classic ink; and I spritzed the stamp after I inked up before stamping to get an even more "watercolor" effect.
I then added some stamped images using Versamark and our Heat & Stick Powder, so I could use the fabulous Gilded Leafing embellishment on the background. I probably could have added more, but since this is in the background, much of it will be covered up.
Next I cut out some of the floral images from the Golden Garden Designer Specialty Acetate. Cutting around these is super easy being the acetate is nice and sturdy. And I can cut apart and around anything I want to preserve for my images.
I then cut out this floral spray from the Pale Papaya from the In Color Vellum using the Floral Gallery Dies. Then I cut a slit between images in the acetate where I wanted this die cut to overlap and lay.
From there it's about additional elements and a lot of fun!
I stamped the main floral image from the stamp set (remember, this is a 2-step stamp set), using Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo classic inks; and some Pool Party for the flower center. I cut some "leaf" pieces using the Forever Flourishing Dies and the new Gold/Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper. And then I just started layering (use your Glue Dots folks!!) 😉😉
The layered piece is popped to the front of the card using Dimensionals.
I tied a piece of Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace Trim with the Gold Fine Art Ribbon as I tied the bow. This is a really pretty and fun way to create a shabby chic look.
The tag is stamped and embossed with Versamark and Gold Emboss Powder; and punched on either end using the Banners Pick a Punch.
The final result is really lovely!1
The inside of the card is finished with a simpler touch and to carry some of the elements of the front of the card to the inside!
Here I used Shimmry White cardstock instead of Watercolor Paper which holds up well to watercolor washing like this.
I hope you've had fun with me today!! I'm working on getting caught up and hope to be back soon with some more fun!!
I Love to hear from you. Leave your questions or comments below!!
Hugs, . . .
