Here we come . . . with some more fun!!  It's Hump Day!!  And I am feeling really tired today!!  Not sure why!  But I have days like this.  I think it has to do with getting old!!  LOL

So for those here in Colorado, who may have not noticed, we had that annual sudden "change to the air" over the weekend; the noticeable change, smell, difference that my mom always used to talk about when I was growing up.  Today, I'm REALLY noticing it!!  It feels like Fall!!!!!  Scary to think . . . but I do believe it's time to let go of Summer, and start shifting to cooler nights, thoughts of apple cider, and what we love to call "sweater weather."  I'm both sort of sad to see the warm months fading away; and excited at the same time for the cooler Autumn months ahead -- my favorite time of year!!

 

So very shortly we will shift here at DDS Studios as well, to harvest and Autumn-themed projects.  But before we head there, we have a little more Sale-a-Bration fun to share this week.

And this project today I'm really excited about!!  Don't ask me why -- but sometimes when something comes together, it just makes you feel good!

Today's card features 2 Sale-a-Bration stamp sets -- well, one is a Sale-a-Bration set; the other is one you can earn automatically with a $300 or higher order (or if you were to Host a catalog party).  Let's take a look at today's fun!!

 

Today I played with the Textures & Frames stamp set.

This is one of those sets that I looked past because I didn't see the potential in it!!  Yikes!  I've really got to stop doing that!

I saw some inspiration from one of my fellow Stampin' Pretty Pals, and went to town!  I had so much fun creating this card; and realizing that there is so much you can do with the shapes and "textures" in this set.  It's a world just waiting for you to start stamping!!!

This card base is actually a Thick Basic White card base, cut 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4".  But I covered the entire front of the card base with a piece of Pale Papaya cardstock, so you don't see the usual "frame" of white around the outside edge.  It makes for a little different look and feel to not have that extra outer frame.

And then this entire card incorporates colors from our newest In Color collection - Pale Papaya, Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia, and Soft Succulent.

I used the solid circle, the circle frame, the stripes and the "splotches" images in the stamp set to create the fun background panel on the front of the card.  Then wrapped it with Pale Papaya 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon.

The incredibly fabulous sentiment "Hope this Card Makes You Smile" is from the Hostess Reward stamp set - In Your Own Words.  This sentiment set is INCREDIBLE!!  I Love it!!! 

It's stamped in Pale Papaya, and cut and layered with our Layering Circles Dies.

I finished the card off with a luscious bow and the fun Loose Flower Flourishes in the matching In Color colors.

Look how fun this card is!!!  It would make anyone happy, don't you think?!?  😉😉😉

You know what??  That circle is going to be great to emulate a coffee cup circle too -- don't you think?  See, I'm imagining wonderful things already !!!  LOL

A Week of Sale-a-Bration - Feels Like Home Diorama

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

We're baaaacck!!  LOL  And ready for some more fun!  I'm really enjoying exploring each of this Summer's Sale-A-Bration products -- and sharing them with you!  I hope I'm giving you some creative inspiration and that you're excited to try some of these ideas out yourself.

Today we're going to take a peek at a stamp set that I absolutely love; but as is always the case for me with this style of stamp set, I struggle to figure out how to create with it.  And I really shouldn't -- it's a fabulous style of stamp set; with so much to offer!!

 

The Feels Like Home stamp set is really a lovely set.  The fonts to the sentiments are some of my favorite; and the main image has a lot to offer; especially if you love to color!  I'm going to showcase another lovely idea I saw on Pinterest for this set very soon -- so stay tuned!!

 

I also incorporated a number of new products into this card from our new "Holiday" catalog.  There are some items here that I am totally enamored with, and I'll talk about each product in turn.

But let's start with something from the Annual Catalog that I was not necessarily so enamored with - the new Layering Diorama Dies.  When I first saw these, I was like, ugh!  I just didn't think they were my thing and had no interest . . . . until, of course, I started seeing other fellow demos using them!  Yikes!  Boy oh boy, has my mind been changed about this set of dies!  And so, I quickly snapped up a set VERY recently so I could start using them.  And today is my first presentation -- and I can truly say I am now enamored!!

Today's card base is cut from Crumb Cake cardstock - a little different of a choice for me.  And I chose to work a brown-on-brown style design (what we call tone-on-tone in the quilting world) with a pop of color cut from a piece of designer paper in the Harvest Meadow DSP collection.  So here you see a mat of Basic White for the background rather than the main card base - something that is unusual for me in my designing.

The layering behind the Basic White, and behind the NEW Cork Specialty Paper horizontal strip is the new Kraft Paper.  It makes for a nice brown tonal variation through the card layering.

As for that NEW Cork Specialty Paper - Yummy!!!  Cork is VERY big in the sewing world right now; I've been seeing it a lot and starting to play with a little.  So imagine my surprise when Stampin' Up! brought out a paper made from this material.  And it really does feel like my cork fabrics.  Even the elements within the cork texture are the same!  You will LOVE this new specialty paper!

From there I layered in some of the new Diamond Weave Ribbon for some additional texture; and then popped my beautiful "diorama" stamped image (stamped in Staz-On Saddle Brown ink - one of my favorite inks).

It's all finished off with some of those new Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots - another one of My Favorite Things from this new catalog!!

I love this sentiment from the stamp set - "Your Friendship Feels Like Home to Me" -- isn't that lovely?

A Week of Sale-a-Bration - Playing with the Penguins

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Well, I didn't quite get this posted when I wanted to . . . but better late than never, right?!?  😉😉

 

Work was sort of crappy today -- it was definitely a Monday. So I decided it was a good time to take a break and finish up my Playful Penguin cards and share them with all of you!  I'm loving this cute suite of products -- and even better . . . the FREE Designer Series Paper you can earn with a minimum $50 order to go with it!  Let's play today!!

The first card leverages the gorgeous soft pastel feel of Fresh Freesia and Soft Sea Foam.  I included several of our new Wonderful Snowflakes which have a "wonderful" iridescent foil on them and works perfectly with these colors.

I also have a lovely bow made from the new White 3/8" Glittered Organdy Ribbon.  You will also see the new Subtle Shimmer Sequins scattered across the card to finish it all off.  It's the perfect "cool" snow scene!!

But the real focus of these two designs are the absolutely fabulous and FUN critters you can fussy cut, easy peasy, right out of the Designer Series Paper!  They are so adorable, and are available in different poses and activities!

The sentiment, pulled from the Penguin Place stamp set, was stamped in Fresh Freesia, the fussy cut apart and attached in a "whimsical" display!

Our other card, showcases a couple other designs from the cute paper; and some more adorable fussy cut out critters.

I used one of our retired punches here for the sentiment; this is why you don't get rid of everything!!!  LOL

A Week of Sale-a-Bration - Shaded Summer/Summer Shadows Dies

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

We've been quite busy here this week.  Lots going on; so little time!!!  LOL  Are you enjoying the new products in our new 2021 Holiday Catalog?  How about all those wonderful FREE products you can earn in the Sale-a-Bration brochure!!  I'm here to showcase another fun Sale-a-Bration product today; I'm quite excited because Stampin Up! once again knocked it out of the park on this one!!

 

 

In the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog you will find a wonderful stamp set called Shaded Summer.  It's been a "stand-alone" . . . until now!!

So of course, if you're going to have dies, you HAVE to have the stamp set!!  LOL

Not only do the dies coordinate with several images in the stamp set to cut them out after you have stamped them; there are also a number of "detail oriented" dies that stand-alone and create beautiful layered flowers!  I'll showcase these another time.

 

But for today, let's focus on these pretty flower sprays; and a few detail die-cut leaves tucked behind them!

The color combination for this card was inspired by a embroidery design disk I just purchased for one of my sewing/embroidery projects.  The colors showcased were/are rather unusual; but I decided to implement them here, and I thought they ended up being pretty fun!

This card is cut from Thick Basic White cardstock, 4-1/4" x 11", scored @ 5-1/2".

Then I created mat layers from Pool Party and Mango Melody.

I finished with a Basic White background that has been embossed with an incredible new emboss folder called Timeworn Type 3D.  I think I may have just found my new "go to" embossing folder!  This folder is incredible!

Then I used a pastel coloring technique that I taught at a Pastel's class recently where I rubbed the Coastal Cabana pastel chalk across the raised embossed images to catch color.  So pretty -- and just the perfect added texture for the background of the card!

From there I created a center panel using Polished Pink for the mat a piece from the Sale-a-Bration designer paper pack called Beautifully Penned (you can earn a pack of this paper for FREE with a minimum $50 purchase).  I blended Pool Party ink across the paper before attaching it to the cardstock and to the card front.

 

Now we'll play with the stamp set and dies!!  Yeah!

I stamped the flower sprays in Polished Pink as my "pop" color; and added Mango Melody and Light Granny Apple Green using blender pens.

These are popped with dimensionals on the card front; with Gold Metallic die cut leaves tucked in.

It's finished off with a pretty Pool Party 3/8" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, and some wonderful new Matte Decorative Dots.

I left the sentiment off the front of this card, because I felt it detracted.  Sometimes you have a card like that!

Instead, I will leave the card for now; then add the sentiment to the inside once I decide what event I want to use it for - most likely a birthday!

A Week of Sale-a-Bration - Delicate Dahlias

Running JUST a tad behind this week.  But nevertheless, having some fun in the Studio!! 

I'm excited that we're having our first ever "Summer Sale-a-Bration" kicking off the new 2021 Holiday Catalog!  Sale-a-Bration is the Best Time of the Year at Stampin' Up!, and we have some pretty fun Freebies to play with this cycle.  It's time to share Sale-a-Bration fun . . . so join me as we kick things off!!

 

 

Today I'm featuring the Delicate Dalias stamp set.

This is a photopolymer 2-step stamp set, that is also one of our Dist-Ink-tive stamp sets so the flower stamps out with a beautiful variegation that gives a lovely shading, realistic effect.

I made a set of 3 cards today that feature this set both with images as well as the sentiments -- all can be found in this one stamp set.

 

I dusted off an OLD card design for this card today.  This is one that I did waaaaaaaay back in the beginning of my Stampin' Up! journey in 2014.  It's called "Triple Stamping" for the 3 layers that are created AFTER you have stamped the main white card stock.  I still do my cutting of these layers by measuring and drawing the cutting lines in pencil on the back side of the cardstock, before putting it into the trimmer.  By cutting the layers this way, from one piece of stamped cardstock, you save a lot of bulk; and the result with how the images line up is absolute perfection!

I also love the crispness that Basic Black gives to this kind of design.  It really sets apart the layering and the images.

These Dahlias were first stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black with the "outline/detail" stamp; and then with the overlay solid image stamp, I stamped in Rich Razzleberry, Polished Pink, and Pale Papaya.  Don't you love how pretty these turned out ?

 

For the second card I created today, I stamped all 3 Dahlias without the detail/outline stamp.  This really showcases the Dist-Ink-tive stamping of the solid image and how pretty the shading is.

This card is matted in Bumblebee; and the flowers are stamped in Mango Melody. 

I used a "masking technique" to stamp the leaves, by covering the flower up with a fussy cut sticky note.  Easy technique, and the result is fantastic!!!

The sentiment for this card was die cut using a die in the Floral Gallery Dies.

It's finished off with Clear Wink of Stella on the flowers; and the gorgeous new Brushed Metallic Adhesive-backed Dots.

My third card design today incorporates the brand new Kraft Paper with an Evening Evergreen mat.  I wrapped those layers with the Early Espresso Faux Suede ribbon.

This Dahlia is stamped in Cinnamon Cider and is also masked for the leaf stamping.

 

I used the outline leaf image to stamp the background on the Kraft paper using Crumb Cake ink.

And the Scalloped Contour Dies to cut the center focal layer.
