A Week of Sale-a-Bration - Friendly Hello Book Binding Birthday Card

We're back, bright and early on a Monday morning!!  Unheard of lately!!  LOL

I hope you're up and rarin' to kick of your week!  I'm sure mine will be busy as usual.  But before I dive into my regular work day, I'm excited to share with you another "fun fold" card showcasing the Friendly Hello Bundle as well as the Sale-a-Bration Host Set, Special Moments; and some fun elements from the Flowered Friendship bundle in the Annual Catalog.  You'll see how well everything just fits right together -- one of the elements Stampin' Up! does so incredibly well!!  Coordination!!

 

The "book binding" fun fold design has been all the rage lately (along with the slim-line card).  I've been itching to try it, and finally sat down this weekend to play.  There are two different sizes to try for a "book binding" fold - depending on whether you're using the 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" cut; or you're using the 4-1/4" x 11" cut for your card base.  Today I'm playing with the 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" A2 basic card base (what you can also call the "vertical book binding" card).  I've scored as normal at 4-1/4"; and then a second time at 5".

After you've folded on your score lines, you adhere the card base together between the 4-1/4" and 5" score lines so that when you open the card, it is only opening on that 5" score line (actually, from the front, that score line sits @ 3-1/2").  It's really cool!!

I am showcasing some more of the beautiful papers from the Friendly Hello bundle - a Free item you can choose at the $100 level.  

Then I cut a "doily" from Vellum using the Encircled In Beauty Dies, set it in the center of my front panel, and arranged my flowers around the left side of the curve/circle. 

I used components from three different stamp sets to create this pretty arrangement.

First, I stamped the dual flower image in the Friendly Hello stamp set in Memento Tuxedo black, colored with Pool Party Stampin' Blends; then fussy cut them out (and separated them from each other when I fussy cut).

Then I used the cute flowers from the Flowers of Friendship stamp set, which coordinate with the Flowers & Leaves Punch.  I stamped the two different size flowers and the two different size leaves, colored with Pool Party and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends, then punched them out.  All my flowers have Wink of Stella added for lots of shimmer.

Then, after tying by front panel with a gorgeous Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon bow, I arranged my flowers and leaves using dimensionals and glue dots.

It's finished off with a fabulous and simply sentiment pulled from the Sale-a-Bration Hostess Set, Special Moments.

And every flower sports a beautiful Iridescent Rhinestone Jewel - the perfect match for this color scheme!!

Here's how the book binding fold looks when it's opened.

 

And the inside of my card emulates the front, with the other fussy cut flower slid in under the edging at the bottom to hide where it separates from the other flower.  I even included some of the Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels on the center of this flower (I don't often include that sort of embellishment on the inside of my cards - but I couldn't resist).

Does it get any prettier than that!!!  LOL

A Week of Sale-a-Bration - Friendly Hello Envelope Card

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Squuuuueeeeeeaaaaall !!  Did you hear that through your computer screen?  That's me sooooo excited about what I have to show you today; and about the Sale-a-Bration product bundle that I'm using that I can hardly contain myself!!!  LOL

We've been busy here at DDS Studios with our Hello Ladybug Coffee & a Card class fun -- if you don't know about my virtual card series', check out what's current and coming on my Class Schedules page.  However, we're squeezing some other fun inbetween playing with Ladybugs!  LOL   I can hardly wait to share with you what is by far my MOST Favorite Sale-a-Bration Product(s).

 

Today's card design is something I'm calling the "Envelope Fold Card" -- I created this off an idea I saw on a box.  I don't know if there's anything else out there like it  . . .  if there is, than I'm not original!!  LOL  That's quite alright!

And today's design features a bundle of products that is available at the $100 level for Sale-a-Bration!

The Friendly Hello Bundle includes a beautiful Designer Series Paper in wonderful soft Springy colors that I just cannot get enough of!! (especially as it showcases my favorite color - Purples)

And this incredible and sweet photopolymer stamp set that has the sweetest bird I think I've seen in awhile!!  There are so many beautiful things that can be done with this set; and I hope I will have time to share before all of Sale-a-Bration is over!!  Hope you're ready for the ride!!

This cute little card, that I'm dubbing the "Envelope Fold Card" - is made to look like an Envelope, and has a magnet closure.

The card measures 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", and is scored on the  8-1/2" side @ 2-1/2 and @ 6-1/4".

Then I used the Basic Borders dies to cut the edge on the 2-1/4" flap (the smaller flap), to create my "envelope" edge.

Finally I worked with the pretty designer papers in the Friendly Hello Designer Series Paper, to cut and create the panels for both flaps.  For the "envelope" flap you want to cut a piece of the stripe design that is 2-1/4"; then cut the edge with the die; then carefully trim the scalloped edge off, and use your trimmer to very carefully remove about another 1/16" of an inch on each of the envelope sides so that the piece just fits on that front flap and leaves the little white border around. 

I wrapped that top flap with a piece of Fresh Freesia 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon, and tied a luscious bow.

Then it's on to playing with more dies, stamps and ink -- and lots of fun!

I cut a gorgeous "doily" using the Encircled In Beauty Dies from the Ombre Specialty Paper - the Gorgeous Grape Ombre to be exact . . .

Here is the beautiful glimmering/shimmering Ombre paper!

I used our retired Stitched Shapes - to cut a stitched circle to fit in the center of that "doily" using Shimmery White Paper; and then I used more Shimmery White Paper to stamp my bird image in Memento Tuxedo Black, and color using Stampin' Blends:  Old Olive, So Saffron, Petal Pink, & Calypso Coral.

I fussy cut out the stamped image, popped it with dimensionals onto the layered doily/circle; then popped the entire piece overhanging the edge of my "envelope" flap.

The front is finished with the beautiful new Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels which just match perfectly to the entire color scheme of this collection!

As I said, this card has a magnet closure - I have the magnet on the top under edge of the top flap; and the other magnet is "hidden" behind the designer paper on the lower flap.  Seamless closure!!

The inside of the card is just as pretty!

I used the Scalloped Contours Dies to create the center panel - stamped in Fresh Freesia ink for the sentiment; and the flowers in Memento Tuxedo Black, again colored with Stampin' Blends to echo the front of the card.

A Week of Sale-a-Bration - Daffodil Afternoon Dutch Door Card

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Sheesh!!  It just seems like life overtakes me no matter my good intentions.  One way or another, we are going to get this Sale-a-Bration thing off the ground, and start creating!!  LOL

I am getting "snowed in" today -- at least it feels that way, so it seems like the perfect time to get this blog post written.  The card I'm sharing with you today was actually created early on Sunday -- so what are my excuses anyway?!?  Oh well, I'm just having a hard time getting 2020 kicked off on the right foot I think.  I hope I'm not the only one!

 

We're making a Dutch Door Fun Fold card today -- just to show off the gorgeous Daffodil Afternoon designer series paper in the Sale-a-Bration brochure; and the pretty new Daffodil Daydream bundle in the new catalog along with it.  And you'll also see another new stamp set featured in today's design, that you can "earn" for FREE with a minimum $100 order!!  So come play with me . . . and let's have some early Spring fun on a snowy day!!

Dutch Door Fold cards can be made in several different ways; I chose a simple route today, to make it easy on everyone!  I actually like this version a lot!!  It is much like creating just a regular A2 card. The only difference is that you cut 1/2 of the front piece off.  Don’t worry though, that piece is not wasted.  It is used to decorate the front as you'll see here in a minute!

 

To make the Dutch Door Card ~

Begin with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock (in this case we're using Mossy Meadow), scored at 4 1/4″ as normal.

With your card base open, align the 4 1/4″ score line on the cutting line of your Stampin' Trimmer, then carefully cut from the top down to the 2 3/4″ mark.

Rotate the card base 90 degrees to the left, line up the edge on the 2-3/4" mark, and carefully cut down to the 4-1/4" score line.  Save the cut out rectangle for later.  Fold the remaining "door" flap (bump to the inside), and gently burnish with your bone folder.

Now we're ready to play with paper -- and this absolutely stunning Daffodil Afternoon designer series paper is a "Must Have"!!  The bold patterns are meant to be showcased, as you'll see more here in a minute.

First, we decorate our "Dutch door" flap with a Pale Papaya mat piece measuring 4-1/8" x 2-5/8".  Then I chose one of the black background designs for this front flap measuring 4" x 2-1/2".

For the inside of the card, I showcased this fabulous "flock" of Daffodils - LOL  Don't you just love this paper??  I can see this sheet of designer paper used on a memory scrapbook page in a heartbeat!!

Again, it is matted with Pale Papaya cardstock (4-1/8" x 5-3/8"); and then the DSP cut 1/8" smaller to center on the back panel.

On this photo, you can see the backside of our next element.

This is where that cut out rectangle is coming into play.

I first cut a Pale Papaya mat piece measuring 4-1/8" x 2-5/8"; and adhered it to the Mossy Meadow rectangle.

Then I cut a piece of (in this case White - should have been Very Vanilla - oops!!) cardstock for the front panel measuring 2-3/8" x 3-7/8" (your coming down a full 1/4" on the front focal panel).  

Now I get to showcase this next INCREDIBLE Sale-a-Bration stamp set called Special Moments.   This is a full sentiment stamp set -- and it has some pretty wonderful sentiments in it, for just about anything!!!  I chose the "Thanks for Brightening up my day!" sentiment, stamped it in Mossy Meadow ink, near the top of my panel; then adhered it to the matted rectangle.

Next, you are going to put adhesive on only the bottom third of your panel and attach it, centered to your "Dutch Door", as you see above!

Now here comes that fabulous new bundle in the Mini Catalog - Daffodil Daydream!!  Don't you just love how Stampin' Up! coordinates everything?!?

I stamped my daffodil in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and pulled out my Watercolor Pencils for this one.  I don't use them nearly enough, and they have just the right softness for this coloring.  Here I used Daffodil Delight, a little bit of Pumpkin Pie for highlighting, and used the Old Olive pencil for the stems and leaves; then used my Blender Pen to move and work the color just the way I wanted.  I finished with a touch of Clear Wink of Stella for some added shimmer.

The Daffodil is popped with dimensionals and I snagged some retired Gold Glimmer dots because they just had the right coloring and feel for this design.

On the back side I added another 2-3/4" x 4-1/4" Mossy Meadow rectangle, and layered it out to give interest, added stability to the front panel of the card, and to make it look finished and professional.  You can see another great design from the Daffodil Afternoon Designer Series Paper here.

Finally, on the inside, I created a banner tag and stamped it with another wonderful sentiment from the Special Moments stamp set, layered it with some loops of Evening Evergreen Baker's Twine from the Fan Baker's Twine combo, and attached it with dimensionals. (don't look at my crooked sentiment - LOL)

 

And there you have it!!  A fabulous way to showcase your designer paper -- and all kinds of Sale-a-Bration, and other new goodies to drool over here!

 

I promise to not disappear for another week and a half again!!  I just have to get my plate organized here -- LOL

A Week of Sale-a-Bration - Awesome Otters

Well, I'm finally getting a little footing around here.  I had wanted to get our Week of Sale-a-Bration kicked off on Monday; but it wasn't to be.  But no worries -- we're not going to miss out on a thing!!!

We're going to start a little more "cleanly and simply" for our Week of Sale-a-Bration fun . . . with the "Otterly" Awesome Otters stamp set!  Free with a minimum $50 purchase, this adorable set is all set to bring smiles!

Tying a Misty Moonlight/Silver Baker's Twine double bow and leaving lots of "tail" makes for a fun flair to your card.

Today's measurements and supplies are below, along with close up photos with a few "walk-thru's":

Imperial Measurements (we're not too good at the metric in this household!!) , , ,

* Basic White Thick Cardstock (card base) 
    - 8-1/2” x 5-1/2”, scored on the 8-1/2" side @ 4-1/4"

        * Smoky Slate Cardstock
            - 4-1/8" x 5-3/8"

        * Misty Moonlight Cardstock
            - 4" x 5-1/4" - dry embossed w/Painted Textures 3D Emboss Folder

        * Adhere Misty Moonlight panel to Smoky Slate panel; wrap 2 times with Misty Moonlight/Silver Baker's twine; adhere to front of card base.

I did use a Dark Misty Moonlight Stampin' Blend to add color to the previously stamped "water ripples" (see directions below for stamping the otter image in the center of the Misty Moonlight circle)

        * Shimmery White Cardstock
            - 3-1/2" x 4-3/4"
            - Stamp in the center w/Misty Moonlight Classic Ink, and the circle from the Watercolor Shapes Photopolymer Stamp Set
            - Stamp in center of Misty Moonlight circle, using "floating otter" stamp and Memento Tuxedo Black ink
            - Scrap Shimmery White Cardstock to stamp "floating otter" using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, color with Stampin' Blends; then fussy cut out
            - Pop using dimensionals over previously stamped otter on front of card.
            - Scrap Shimmery White Cardstock to stamp sentiment using Misty Moonlight Classic Ink; then fussy cut and pop with dimensionals on front of card
            - Pop the finished Shimmery White panel on the front of the card using dimensionals.

        * Finish with double tied Misty Moonlight/Silver Baker's Twine bow, and the FABULOUS new Iridescent Rhinestones!!!

 

You can use Wink of Stella to add extra shimmer to the "water" behind the Otter.

Cute, Simple, Sweet!!

It doesn't get any better than that!!

Fabulous Friday Fun ~~ 2022 Annual Desk Calendar

Good Morning  Fellow Stampers ~~

Oh My Goodness!!  We have not done a Fabulous Fun Friday post in like, FOREVER!!!  LOL  And I'm feeling better all the time ~~  I finally plowed through a bunch of paperwork this morning and got my desk cleaned back off.  That feels sooooo good!!  I might actually be just about caught back up and can start just having some fun again!!  Wouldn't that be great!?!  LOL

 

 

 

 

This past Monday evening was the Annual CD Holder Desk Calendar class - and we had a fabulous time putting these together!

I thought I had shared the calendar with you all last year, but I cannot seem to find the blog post -- so maybe I did it in my sleep!!  LOL

Nevertheless, I thought I'd share it with everyone this year; I really enjoy planning and putting these together.  And even more, love flipping each month through the year and getting see them all over again!

I purchase the pre-printed calendars every year from eBay seller, Painter410.  In fact, I'm ready to buy the 2023 calendars already!!  You can find Painter410 by clicking here.  You can find the CD cases to sit your calendar in at calendarcase.com.  You can buy them singly, or in packs of 10, 25, 50, etc.  Click on "CD Jewel Case" on the left-hand menu, and make your selection on the screen that comes up.

I'll post each month here so you can just look through the year with ease  . . .

But you can click on the link at the bottom of today's post to download the PDF Guide that will give you the full list of products, etc., used for each month.

I try very hard to use only current active or VERY recently retired (i.e., Holiday Mini that just retired 4 days ago), products for these designs . . .

So you should be able to get your hands on pretty much anything I used.  

You'll even see that I used some of the Brand New 2022 Spring Mini Catalog products that have just released!!

What's more fun than getting to play with Brand New Products!!  😁😁

There is also a lot of wonderful products that are in our current Annual Catalog throughout this project!!

I think we tend to forget what's in the Annual Catalog, because we're so busy with the new Mini's!

But we have such a wonderful, diverse array of products to play with!

So don't let that Annual Catalog gather dust!!
