Mix-It Up Mondays ~~ For the Love of Chocolate - and Time Is Running OUT!!

Hellooooooooo Fellow Stampers ~

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaacccckkk!!!  It would seem that I have survived the oral surgery; at least, so far, so good!!  Last week was somewhat of a rough week for me; but coming out of this weekend, I am feeling much more myself!!  Whew! So, cross our fingers, that this implant is settling into place, and that everything will heal the way it should and we have no issues!!  I'm holding my breath!!!  LOL

I did do some embroidery and sewing through the week last week; but it was like a little puttering here, a little puttering there.  I just didn't have a lot in me.  So it's nice to be returning to the work table, and the Studio as a whole, and feeling like I'm ready to play!  Hey, I even took down the Valentine decorations in the house today -- and put up the St. Patty's Day fun!!  Whoo Hooo -- 😉😉😉

 

I've been eyeing this card that I started the weekend right after surgery, and just didn't have the energy to finish . . .  I hope you like how it came out, because I'm lovin' it!!!

I thought we'd close out the "month of love" with our most favorite thing to love -- chocolate!!!

And . . . showcase this fabulous bundle from the Annual Catalog while we're at it!!  Did you know that our Annual Catalog, under the new cycle, retires the end of April??  That's right!!  We only have 2 more months to enjoy our current Annual Catalog ~~ and that means there's a NEW Annual Catalog right around the corner!!  Wow! So Exciting!!

But that also means, we have to start preparing to say good-bye to a lot of wonderful products.  So, you will see me showcasing some wonderful things from our Annual Catalog over these next weeks, as we prepare for the Retiring List.  

This stamp set (Nothing's Better Than), and the coordinating die set (Love Your More Than Dies) is one I have not played with much.  And I cannot figure out why!!  It is absolutely adorable, and I had so much fun!!  The set showcases chocolate, coffee, cookies and more; and has some really fun sentiments.  I LOVE (see what I did there? - LOL) how the dies cut out all these fabulous words!

I decided Pale Papaya would be a fabulous backdrop for anything chocolate . . . so this card base is cut from Pale Papaya cardstock, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored @ 4-1/4".  I pulled the designer paper choice from the Hand-Penned Designer Series Pack, one of my favorite papers in the Annual Catalog.

Then I wrapped the front layers with a beautiful piece of Pale Papaya 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon, and tied a cute little bow in the lower left-hand corner.

I used one of my most favorite, and definite "go-to" die sets, the Scalloped Contour Dies - to cut the center focal panel out of Shimmery White cardstock.  Then I used a blending brush to add Pale Papaya color around the edges to soften and "antique" it a little.

Then I used the dies to cut the first set of words from Pale Papaya - and the second "Chocolate" from Cinnamon Cider cardstock.

Tips & Tricks:  Put a piece of Adhesive Sheet on the back of your cardstock before cutting delicate dies like this.  It makes it so easy to just peel off the backing and adhere the finished product to your project!!  No glue!!  No mess!!

I stamped my little chocolate trios in Memento Tuxedo Black, and used Cinnamon Cider, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to color them in.  Then they're popped on the card front with dimensionals.

The two hears in the upper right-hand corner are cut from the Sweet Hearts Dies using the same DSP; and I finished it all off with the pretty little Polished Dots which exactly match my Pale Papaya color scheme.

Ooops!  My inside picture "fuzzed" out on me -- but I think you can still see the cute sentiment; and here I stamped the chocolate outline and used the 2-step stamp to stamp the insides all in Soft Suede for easy peasy finishing touches.

Fabulous Friday Fun ~~ The Smooshing Technique!

Good Morning  Fellow Stampers ~~

Happy Friday!!  While I'm off sitting in the dental surgery chair today; and recuperating on the couch later, I'm leaving you with some Fabulous Friday Fun from DDS Studios!!  😍😍😍

CASE-Out Thursdays - Re-Designing the Envelope Card

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Well . . . it's official!!  We have woken up to another 8" of snow this morning!  And they're predicting more this coming Monday!  I think I'm ready for Spring!!!

Thus, I may start doing LOTS of flower cards soon to lift myself out of the winter doldrums!!  Hope you won't mind!  LOL

We're doing a "case-out" card today; and I'm CASEing my very own card which I presented to you several weeks ago HERE.  I'm going to show you a modified version of my "envelope card", in which I've made measurement adjustments, and added a straight edge overlay that has changed the look of this "fun fold" card somewhat.

For today's modified version of my first card, I adjusted the measurements . . .

So this card base is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" -- but the scoring is at 2-1/2" and 6-1/2" on the 8-1/2" side. (so just a slight adjustment on the 2nd score measurement from our previous card).

So let's jump in a take a little closer look at today's "CASE-Out" design.

To create the front fold-over flap for today's card design, I adhered a piece of heart patterned designer paper from the Sweet Talk DSP collection, that covers the entire front flap (measuring 2" x 5-1/2"); but first I attached a 1" x 5-1/2" Real Red strip of cardstock that sticks out/overlays the edge of the front flap by approximately 3/8".  This creates a fabulous decorative edge as well as a nice extra extension to overlay the fold beneath.

Here you can see the back side of the front flap so you can better see the Real Red edge extension/overlay.

I also used the "magnet technique" from my previous envelope fold card (you can see the tutorial HERE) to create a secure closure for the flaps to hold the card shut.  On this card, I hid the magnets beneath the DSP on the front and back of the front flap.

The tucked under flap has no layers to it; this time I created a design simply by stamping randomly with the different cute hearts in the Sweet Conversations stamp set.  Then finished off with From My Heart Faceted Gems that show both when the flaps are closed and when open.

On the front flap, I created a popped up "overlay" that has a piece of the Highland Heather 1/2" Grosgrain ribbon behind a Square Vellum Doily.  Then I die cut a heart from the Ombre Specialty Paper in Poppy Parade using the Bouquet of Love Dies; and finished off the focal point with fussy cut images from the Sweet Talk DSP.  The sentiment is also stamped on DSP and fussy cut and popped in place.

The inside of the card has a simple "stamped off" panel with some of the images in the Sweet Conversations stamp set, all set to write a personal message to the recipient!

On the 5th of February, we held the Annual DDS Studios Valentine Class - we were a small contingent; but we had a wonderful afternoon of Valentine fun!!

And it's time to share those projects with you!!

This fun card showcases the new "smooshing" technique for an easy and fun watercolor background.

This card will be the focus of our next Class With Wendy tutorial video - so stay tuned!!!

 

This fun bright card showcases an easy emboss-resist watercolor technique.  I love the color combination of Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Flirty Flamingo, and Daffodil Delight on this card!!

 

This sweet Valentine showcases the new Gingham Embossing Folder for the background; and a sweet color combination of Real Red, Blushing Bride and Hyland Heather.

 

No craft session can be complete without a Fun Fold card, right??  LOL

Not only does this "angled" card-in-a-card fun fold showcase the pretty Sweet Talk DSP, but also puts the Ombre Specialty Paper front and center for a gorgeous glimmer and shimmer.

Opening the pretty top flap gives you a first peek to the inside of the card.

Lifting the angled flap gives you a full view of the pretty message set against the Sale-a-Bration Simply Marbelous designer series paper in the background.

 

This "offset" shadow card replicates the design I featured in this POST - but with a twist.

I used the absolutely stunningly gorgeous Pool Party paper in the Supple Shimmer Specialty Paper pack as a "peek-a-boo" in the heart cut out from the Bouquet of Love Hybrid Embossing Folder; then offset the cut out heart, added the smaller die cut heart and flowers/leaves; finished with the simple sentiment stamped in Pool Party classic ink.  And finished off with Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels and the Pool Party 3/8" Sheer Ribbon, this card is beyond "pure elegance."  You can't beat a "white-on-white" monochrome with just a soft addition of color!!

 

Our final project of the day was simple, sweet & fun!!  LOL

We wrapped the Sweet Little Boxes with a simple Expressions In Ink specialty designer series paper wrap; added a luscious White Frayed Ribbon tied bow, and a shimmery glimmer Supple Shimmer heart tag.  Then wrapped up a bunch of little Hershey Nuggets in their pretty Sweet Talk paper wrappers, and popped them inside.  The perfect sweet treat to end our day together!!

Not in the Blog Hop - Card-in-a-Card Birthday Fun Fold

Hello Fellow Stampers ~~

I'm running late on a number of blog posts, including this one; so I hope you won't hold it against me if you get several blog posts in your in-box in a row!!  I'm going to be trying to do some catch up with sharing.  I have so much I wanted to be sharing with you the past couple of days, but have just found it hard to get my arms wrapped around things here at the Studio, and push through the "to do" list.

At any rate, it was Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop time last Wednesday, and for the time-being, we are continuing to "do our own thing" on Blog Hop day!!  So bear with me 😁😁  This month's theme centered around Birthdays!  It is a perfect time of the year to get those birthday cards made and your stash beefed up to last you all year long; so I hope you checked out what the Pals had to offer last week, and got some great ideas.

Today's card design is a "fun fold" - card-in-a-card is what I'm calling this.  It's a modified "flap-fold" card.

I am using several Sale-a-Bration products in today's showcase - Friendly Hello DSP, and the Calming Camelia stamp set.  I also pulled in some other wonderful products from our Annual Catalog to create this design.

The main card base measures 5-1/2" x 9-1/4"; and you score along the 9-1/4" side @ 3-1/2" and 7-3/4".

The smaller card base is 3" x 6", scored @ 3".

Then the "mini" card base is attached to the 1-1/2" inch flap of the main card base after you've added your designer paper layers.

I used a variety of patterns from the Friendly Hello DSP, layered with Fresh Freesia cardstock; and on the front of the "mini" card base, I used Basic Black for a pop to the focal point.

I wrapped the main front flap of the larger card base with Fresh Freesia 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon and tied a bow.

On the front flap of the "mini" card base I showcased die cuts from the Birds & More Dies, and used the Tailor Made Tags Dies to create a cute tag sentiment.

The Mother of Pearl Specialty Paper makes some of those die cuts just shimmer; and it's finished off with the gorgeous Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels.

When you open the flap of the "mini" card you get the full view of the front of the main card base; I used Brushed Brass Butterflies (say that fast 3 times - LOL), to accent the pretty paper.

Then when you open the main flap you get a full view of the "inside" of the "mini" card . . .

Here I used the Birds & More Dies again to cut myself a cute little Mother of Pearl birdie - who is sitting on a leaf image stamped from the Calming Camelia stamp set, in Versamark on Fresh Freesia Shimmer Vellum, and embossed with Silver emboss powder; then I fussy cut and popped with dimensionals before attaching my cute little bird.

When you pull back that final flap you get the full view of the inside of the card.

Here is where I put the gorgeous Camelia in the Calming Camelia stamp set on full display!!

I stamped the image in Soft Sea Foam classic ink; and then used sponge daubers to add color on the flowers with Fresh Freesia and So Saffron classic inks.

I then used the Encircled in Beauty Dies to cut out the image; and finished off with the beautiful sentiment.

 

This easy fold holds a lot of punch and will be a great "gift" for the recipient!
