Hello Fellow Stampers ~~
We had a "family emergency" last week, and things got waylaid, unfortunately. So I'm going to proceed with the post below as if it was still September 13th ~~ LOL. Thanks for being patient with me.
############################
It's "hump day" -- and the 2nd Wednesday of the month. That is the Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop Day . . . and we will participate from afar this month -- LOL 😁😁😁
The Pals theme this month was "All Creatures Great and Small". We'll forego the theme and stick to our "Fall Theme" as we play with more of the goodies from the new Holiday Occasions Catalog.
There are three background-style masks in the Abundant Beauty collection. The one I'm showcasing today is one of those.
A lovely scattering of leaves and acorns, that we can use in so many ways.
For this design today, I used Embossing Paste, and then came back after it was dry and blended color on using Blending Brushes. Let's take a closer look 😉😉
Embossing Paste is so fun to work with, and is a perfect medium to play with on Masks.
The paste I worked with today is the Matte Finish Embossing Paste (Item #141979). I would have used the Shimmery White paste, but I was out (need to reorder!!).
Don't forget your Palette Knives (Item #142808) for this task.
I cut a piece of Very Vanilla Regular cardstock 4" x 5-1/4". Then I lined it up on a piece of grid paper (Item #130148) and used some artist's removable tape (easily found on Amazon), to carefully hold it in place (keep those tape pieces near the corners and as off the cardstock as possible but still hold it solidly).
Then I laid the scattered leaves/acorns pattern mask over the cardstock, centered it just the way I wanted, and taped that down as well.
Then I generously applied the paste all across the surface using my Palette Knife to smooth and move the paste along. Once everything was nicely covered, I gently lifted the mask and immediately took it to the sink to wash under warm water (use soap and a soft sponge to help get the paste off your mask).
I let the paste dry really well on the cardstock; and then when it was ready I re-aligned my mask over the raised images so everything was lined back up, again taped it down, and then took Small Blending Brushes (Item #160518) and added color over the design. I used Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry, Wild Wheat, Copper Clay and Old Olive classic inks to create the color across the design.
That finished panel is adhered to a 4-1/8" x 5-3/8" piece of Wild Wheat cardstock, and then wrapped with a piece of Gold cording from the Simply Elegant Trim combo pack before being popped with dimensionals on the Very Vanilla card base front.
Then I jumped in with products from the All About Autumn Suite and had some fun!
First, I took the die that frames and cuts out the two small leaves stamp image, cut out a piece from the All About Autumn Specialty Designer Paper, and turned the cut piece upside down so it looked like two pine cones. Then I used the die pieces from the set that create the "leaf veins", and after cutting from various pieces of the designer paper, used those behind the faux "pine cones" to look like pine tree branches/needles.
My piece is finished off with a Copper embossed fussy cut sentiment.
The design allows the background to shine, and keeps things "simple."
I hope you have enjoyed this "late" post from last week; and that you will give embossing paste a try with the new Abundant Beauty Masks.
I Love to hear from you. Leave your questions or comments below!!
Hugs, . . .
