Yikes!  Where did the past week go??  We're up to our armpits here at DDS Studios with the annual "switch out" of the retiring products from the Annual (and Christmas), and the incoming New with the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog.  I feel like I'm in the midst of chaos right now; but that's pretty normal this time every year!!  LOL

So needless to say, I did not get to the creative sharing I wanted to do last week.  So I hope you won't mind if we have a little late Easter - I mean it has ONLY been 4 days, right??  LOL  And then we'll jump full into springtime fun here shortly!!

 

I had intended to share the funny Easter Friends card we made at the Easter/Spring class on April 9th; but then . . . well, you know!  It just turned into a wild week for some reason - I had to take my husband to the airport on Sunday; pick him back up on Friday; and in-between work and everything else felt like chaos!!

Soooo . . . here we are!  And I still want to share my little Easter Bunny Friend(s) with you -- so I hope you won't mind!!

This little cutie was designed for card class -- and showcases a few items that will be retiring with the closing of the Annual Catalog on May 2nd.

I try to keep the cards a little simpler for class and yet have enough detail to make them fun.

This little guy was stamped right on the die cut panel, in Saddle Brown Staz-On ink, and then gently colored with Light Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends marker, to add some nice shading without detracting from the stamped image itself.

Using the soon retiring Detailed Trio Punch in coordination with the Scalloped Contour Die cut panel, steps things up a little bit without too much difficulty.

 

Of course, I just HAD to play some more and step things up a bit for all of you!!  LOL  So we're calling this our CASE-Out Thursday design, as I "CASE'd" my original design, but definitely took it to the next level.  This card also incorporates the Flowering Tulips bundle for some added extra fun!

This card is a basic 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Thick Basic White card base, scored at 4-1/2".

Then I layered So Saffron, Highland Heather, and Basic White for the front panels.  You'll notice that the top Basic White panel has been popped with dimensionals, and that the Evening Evergreen Window Pane Ribbon wraps the two layers behind it.

I stamped the top panel with the "grass" image from the Easter Friends stamp set, using Garden Green ink; then I brushed Balmy Blue ink across the remainder of the panel for some "sky" background.  Next I stamped a couple of tulip images for a little "garden" for my bunny to be hiding in.  And I used the Fan - Tabu - lous Tulips Dies to create a single tulip stem for my fussy cut bunny to hold in his paw.

This bunny was stamped with Basic Gray ink, shaded with a Light Smoky Slate Stampin' Blend marker, and fussy cut.  Then I very carefully used a blade to slide a small slit at the top and bottom of the right-hand paw/arm, and slid my tulip stem through.  I think he's bringing this little flower to you 😉😉

He is also popped with dimensionals onto his little garden landscape.  I added a few Brushed Brass Butterflies, and some soon retiring In Color Gems to the tulip; AND just a touch of Clear Wink of Stella here and there for a little shimmer.  You don't to overdue that one on this card!!

 

I finished off with this perfect sentiment from the soon retiring Timeless Tulips, die cut with the perfect die from the soon retiring Window Flower Box Dies.

My little friend turned out pretty cute!!  Hope you think so too!!

I layered the inside of the card above to match the front; and you could easily use this sweet sentiment from Easter Friends to finish it all off.

Mix-It Up Mondays . . . A Fond Farewell and Final Day for Retiring Products!!

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

It's Monday . . . Again!!  LOL  And today is our FINAL day with the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, as well as our 2019 Spring Occasions Catalog, and any items carrying forward from last year.  It's a sad day . . .  and it's a day of excitement as we await the moment that the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog goes live tomorrow morning!!  So exciting!!!

 

But before we go . . . .  we are going to spend a little bit of time today saying a Fond Farewell to a stamp set that has had an 18 year run; and came as quite a shock to all of us when we saw it was being retired!  Yes, that would the Lovely As a Tree stamp set that has been with us the longest of all stamp sets [the only other stamp set that even came anywhere close was Teeny Tiny Wishes - and that was a distant second].  With the longevity of this stamp set, it tells you how popular and awesome this stamp set was!!  It was by far the most popular selling stamp set for Stampin' Up! of all time. 

 

And I'm saying "was" - because this set is Sold Out and is now officially gone and no longer available :-(  So Sad!!!  So let's take a moment to wish a Fond Farewell . . .

 

I decided to play just a little with this set before I put it tenderly in the "vintage retired stamp sets" box;

and chose to create a cute little notecard using Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede inks, along with a sentiment from what we dubbed "Lovely As a Tree II" last year - LOL (Rooted In Nature) to complete the design.

 

A simple design with Mossy Meadow cardstock for the background mat both on the back layer; and for the focal tree layer.

Then I wrapped the card with a piece of the Grapefruit Grove Baker's Twine that I snagged from the Incredible Like You project kit out of the 2019 Spring Occasions catalog (LOL - ingenuity when everything is packed - LOL).

 

Next I inked up my favorite tree from Lovely As a Tree stamp set in Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede inks, then stamped it on a 2" x 4-5/8" piece of Whisper White cardstock; matted it and attached it to the front layers of my notecard.

 

Finally I stamped the sentiment in Grapefruit Grove ink and fussy cut/snipped the sentiment apart so I could lay it in a fun and sassy assembly.

And oh those pearls!!  What a perfect finishing touch to an elegant little card.

Terrific Tuesdays ~~ Remembering the Loyal & True

 Hello Fellow Stampers ~~

 

Oh My!  I'm tired!!  That's all I can say for it!!  LOL  This moving thing is HIGHLY overrated -- LOL

 

Things continue to progress and come along.  I'm looking forward to being able to move and unpack into the new studio ~ that's for sure!!!

 

We continue my focus today on soon retiring products - and this card has quite a few!

Starting with the stamp set - Loyal & True. 

Now normally I would have tried to have this design up for Memorial Day; but as I said earlier this week, best laid plans!!  LOL  And I believe every day we should remember our veterans, and especially those who gave all in service to our country.  This stamp set is sadly retiring; and I just feel it is so important to have a stamp set like this around for those opportunities when you have a family member, loved one, friend, or even acquaintance that you want to take the time to send a thoughtful card or note.

 

I chose a "brighter" blue for this card -- Blueberry Bushel with Real Red for a nice bright vibrant combination.  And of course, a little Whisper White!

The background Real Red is embossed with a soon retiring textured impressions embossing folder - Simple Stripes.  This is a wonderful embossing folder for simple backgrounds -- don't miss it!!

The layers are wrapped with 1/8" Blueberry Bushel Grosgrain Ribbon and a "non-feminine" faux bow -- LOL

 

I punched some stars using the Twinkle Builder Punch and attached them with Fine-Tip Glue scattered across the background.

 

The lighting kind of changed things on me a little bit -- but the soldier is actually stamped in Mossy Meadow for a nice deep green look.

I then fussy cut our hero out and popped him with dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink on Whisper White cardstock, and then punched with the 1-1/2" circle punch.

Then I created layers using the soon retiring 1-3/4" circle punch; and the 2" circle punch.

If you've been waiting to finish out your circle punch collection, and don't have the 1-3/4" circle -- get it today!!!  Don't miss out!!

 

I finished the inside, leaving plenty of space for a personal note; and using this wonderful sentiment of thanks.

The Fine Print:

As of the new Annual Catalog - ALL Wood Mount and Clear Mount stamp sets will be a thing of the past!  Stamp sets that are being carried forward in the new Cling Mount format, are indicated on the "Retiring List" as "returning in cling mount" - if it does not say anything, the stamp set is retiring totally.

If you see the words "will no longer be bundled" - this means you can still get the stamp set and the die set in the next catalog - just not at the discounted bundled price!!

All products are available "while supplies last" or until June 3rd - whichever comes first!!

Fabulous Friday Fun! ~~ Cat & Dog in Silhouette

Hello Fabulous Fellow Stampers ~

Another crazy week behind us!!  A crazy day ahead!!  It's our "Off-Friday"; but I've got a full schedule for us with a trip down to Colorado Springs to meet with our florist and the planner at our wedding venue to start working details and vision for the wedding --- that I just realized is ONLY 4 Months Away!!!  Eeeeeeeeeek!!!  So unbelievable!!

 

But before we head off into what I hope will be a little bit quieter weekend, I wanted to share a couple of "fun Friday" cards with you.

 

 

I was so excited earlier this year when I saw a brand new stamp set for our Cat Punch; AND a new stamp set and punch for "the Dogs"!!!!  Whooo hooooo -- because of course, here at DDS Studios, it is ALL about the Dawgs!!!  LOL

These two cards incorporate some of the sentiments from the two new sets; but uses the punches "in silhouette" for a fun dramatic look!

 

The design is similar for both cards -

The black matting helps bring that "dramatic" look seamlessly across the entire design.

The background Whisper White piece has been embossed with the Subtle textured impressions embossing folder.

And then a "snippet" of the Gingham Gala DSP, brings some "country chic" flair.

The background layers are wrapped with a piece of Calypso Coral 3/8" Satin Ribbon, and when the design is complete, you add that pretty satin bow.

The center squares of each card feature a special sentiment in the coordinating ink color.

What I love about both of these stamp sets is they are "2-step" sets, which means you stamp a detail stamp, and fill in the color with a solid coordinating stamp.

Here we did the yarn ball in Smoky Slate, and the overlay color in the Grapefruit Grove which is the card base color and the gingham paper color.

You'll notice the sweet little hearts stamped "off" in the background also in Smoky Slate.

 

All the central pieces on these two cards are popped with dimensionals to give the card great dimension.

And both of them are finished off with some wonderful embellishments!

I have to tell you - I am going to miss Lemon Lime Twist soooooooooooooooooo much!!!  This is the DDS Studio signature color -- so we'll probably have to tuck this one away in the "keep box" for awhile!

 

The adorable heart on both cards can be found in the Dog Builder Punch - so many uses for this sweet punch!!

 

When I taught these two cards at my class in early May, I shared with the gals that these DSP pieces were cut using the "One Sheet Wonder" concept.  You can go on Pinterest and search for "One Sheet Wonder" and find all kinds of ideas for both 12" x 12" designer paper, and 6" x 6" - which is what Gingham Gala is.  I particularly like this "One Sheet Wonder" idea for 6" x 6" sheets right now:
