Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~~
Happy Thursday! Whew ! It's my "Friday" today (tomorrow is our off-Friday week) and I'm just thrilled to death!! It feels like a long but busy week. Sleeping in . . . yeah, that's what I want!! LOL
Welcome to this week's CASE-Out . . . our opportunity to CASE a sample from one of the current Stampin' Up! catalogs - and of course, right now we're focused on the current 2017 Holiday Occasions Catalog. CASE means to Copy and Share Everything, and that is exactly what we are doing here at DDS Studios. So let's jump right in and see what's in today's "suit"CASE -- LOL. Here we go!!
Pick a Pumpkin Bundle
Pg. 51 - Holiday Occasions Catalog 2017

I have to tell ya', my eye has spied this fantabulous set of samples for weeks now. I keep getting drawn back to it again and again, and I've just been chomping at the bit to play. Today, we're going to CASE the sample on the lower left - and just play with fun watercoloring and ink- yeah!!

Now, after a fair amount of "studying" of this card, it has a little more detail than you might at first realize - and by the time I got done, I realized that I had "missed" one step completely that I had not intended on skipping; but that's what happens when you are too busy watching America's Got Talent -- LOL. I love the layers of "texture" and interest to this card - it's right up my alley!! And of course, I didn't just straight copy of the sample -- I had to make it a little bit of a "Wendy Card" - with extra layering; because I am a layer girl after all!! ;-)

"CASE-Out" Design Guide
1. Score your Thick Whisper White cardstock at 4-1/4", and fold [Reminder: Fold "inward" on your bump - bump goes to the inside - to get that nice clean professional look]. Use your bone folder gently so as not to "crack" your cardstock. Set aside your card base and your Cajun Craze 5-3/8" x 4-1/8" piece for now.
2. Drop two drops of your Berry Burst re-inker in a paint inkwell; add water with your Aqua Painter to thin out slightly. Lightly mist your Shimmery White cardstock piece and then dipping your Aqua Painter in your Berry Burst ink - go to town!! This is water color at it's most fun!! Just spread and add color to whatever brilliance or paleness your prefer. [Tip: Use your Paper Piercer to gently hold down the paper as you are adding the color/water - this helps it to not curl up so badly while you're working.] Let dry - you can even press between some paper and books for a few minutes to help straighten the piece back out.
3. Once your piece is dry - stamp the "bud stem" image in Berry Burst ink on the background. Then pick up somemore ink with your Aqua Painter and "flick" drops across your background. Don't you love how this looks?? Round the corners with a corner rounder punch of your choice - I used the now retired Project Life Corner Rounder Punch.
4. Step that I Missed!! : Take the die that cuts little "plus signs" (that's what I call them - LOL) out of your cardstock - and just randomly cut out across your background in a couple of places. This will let the color behind show thru - how fun!!!
5. Now - adhere your Shimmer White piece to the Cajun Craze piece with SNAIL (use plenty of SNAIL on the Shimmer White to help it straighten and hold to the Cajun Craze); then adhere to the cardbase front.

6. Cut a "thinlet" pumpkiin out of Peekaboo Peach.
7. Stamp the medium pumpkin image in Cajun Craze ink on Cajun Craze cardstock, then cut out with the matching framelit.
8. Stamp the leaf stem in Old Olive on Whisper White; then cut it out with the matching framelit.
9. Cut out the larger "swirl" thinlet and the "intricate" bud/leaf thinlet out of Vellum.
10. You will need one "leaf stem" and two little leaves from the Touches of Nature elements collection.
11. Cut one of the "plus signs" set out of Peekaboo Peach
12. Stamp the "Give Thanks" from the Labels to Love stamp set in Old Olive on Whisper White - then do a "fussy cut" of your liking. I just kept the words together in this case, and curved over the "Give" slightly -- kept it simple!!
13. You'll need a length of Silver Metallic Thread (enough to wind around 4 fingers together several times).
14. Now - go to town!! Layer the Metallic Thread first (FYI - I used two glue dots that would be "hidden" to hold the Metallic Thread, as I knew it would get held down by the pieces on top of it); then arrange everything else in a pleasing arrangement over it. I used Fine Tip Glue to adhere the detailed pumpkin thinlet and also my wooden elements. The little Cajun Craze pumpkin is popped with a dimensional and overlaid the wooden leaf slightly, as is the sentiment. Glue dots were used on the Vellum pieces as well.
15. Add some of your Peekaboo Peach "plus signs" (I also used Fine Tip Glue on these). Finish everything off with some Rhinestones.

Here's a little bit different angle to take a closer look.
I hope I remembered all the tips and steps and that this doesn't seem too difficult to everyone!
If you're wondering about something, don't hesitate to contact me about it!!

I have to say, this was so much fun!! It felt eclectic and "free" - it was a ball to pull together all these fun elements and make this "collage" of texture. You MUST try this!! It wasn't hard at all. It's just a matter of pulling together all the little pieces, and then layering them on!! Whooo Hooo!!! I hope you have enjoyed today's CASE-Out! Once again, this is a great reminder that Stampin' Up! provides us with so much wonderful inspiration right inside the pages of our catalogs!!
Have a Wonderful Thursday everyone!
Until Next Time . . .
