Hello Fellow Stampers ~

How is everyone?  I was down flat in bed sick as can be last week and lost the bubble on my best laid plans!!!  I guess I finally have stressed and done too much and my body is letting me know it!!  LOL  So, I'm behind on my blogging; but not so much behind on the move!!  We've done a lot the last couple of days!  It's kind of strange to see the rooms around here slowly emptying out!!  The sewing machine and serger have officially "left the building" (as they say), so I guess that means I'll have a new studio pretty soon!!  LOL 

We did meet with the contractor and the designer and things are on-track.  The drywallers made their appearance this past week and things are really beginning to take form in the new area.  Once they are done, the subfloor will start being built, which means my brand new Acacia wood flooring is this week!!  Yiipppeeeee!!  I can hardly wait to see it ;-)   And the cabinetry should be arriving the first week of June - oh my!  How time is flying by!!  I'll try to share somemore pics this week.

 

So now that I'm pretty much moved in on the personal front at Mike's place, I'm feeling that I can finally turn my focus back to some creativity - and this week I want to focus on soon retiring products.  Did you know we only have 8 days left with our beautiful 2018-2019 Annual Catalog and the current Spring Occasions Catalog??  That means NOW is the time to focus on what's leaving us, and make sure that you have what you want!!  When these products head off into the sunset, that will be it!

Today I'm focusing on an adorable set that I think may have gotten overlooked a little bit and is perfect for the cook, baker -- or just a walk down memory lane!  The Apron of Love stamp set and the coordinated Apron Builder Framelits Dies are a fabulous set to celebrate the cook and baker in your life!!

Today, I'm going to use this adorable set for a "walk down memory lane", because I think of my grandmother(s) and their wonderful kitchens and home-cooked meals and baked goods when I was growing up!!  I actually have plans for a wonderful quilt I'm designing called "Grandma's Kitchen" - and it centers around the wonderful tiled floor in my Grandmother's kitchen in the farmhouse when I was a little girl.  But until I get that done . . . let's make do with this wonderful little framed sampler I want to showcase today!

I created this little sampler for a 5" x 7" frame.

The background cardstock is Gray Granite; and the squares are cut with the Layering Squares Framelits from Whisper White, Basic Black, and Real Red -- can you see the tiles in my grandmother's farm house kitchen ??  ;-)

I went to town with the Apron Builder Framelits and cut all kinds of utensils from Silver Foil, Crumb Cake, and Pretty Peacock cardstocks.  I even layered the spatula to get the "wood" handle and the Pretty Peacock spatula itself.  I thought the colors would make a lovely retro combination.

And I mixed in a little Tranquil Tide for the sentiment!  The best way to make this sentiment work (you'll notice in the stamp set it's one long line) is to use your stampin' write marker, ink each word one at a time and stamp it before the next.  This allows you stamp and line this up perfectly!!!

Now, should I put this in my new kitchen? or give it to a friend!!  LOL ;-)

Case-Out Thursdays ~ The CASE of Peter Rabbit!

Welcome to my "Friday"!!  Whoo Hooo :-)  LOL  I am so glad it's the end of the week for me and that tomorrow is my Off-Friday!  Mike is currently traveling to Indiana to see his eldest son.  So I have a couple of days to myself, and lots I'd like to get done . . .  or not!!  LOL  Maybe some time with my feet up will be more inviting!

"CASE-Out" Design Guide

To Make the Basket:

1. Cut a piece of Petal Pink Cardstock, 8" x 7-3/4".  Score on the 8" side at 3" and 5"; score on the 7-3/4" side at 2" and 5-3/4".  Snip, fold/burnish on your score lines.

2.  Cut pieces from Petal Pink cardstock  - 2 for front and back measuring 3" x 3-3/4"; and 2 for each side measuring 3" x 2".  Emboss with the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, and attach each corresponding sized piece to each side of the basket with Tear & Tape.

3.  Cut a 3/4" x 11" piece of Petal Pink cardstock, and attach to the basket using Tear & Tape or Multi-Purpose glue (attaching just on the inside of each side of the basket). NOTE: I left the handle off this version because I wanted to sit it out for display on my hearth.  I will add it later when I "give it away."  It's obviously perfect either way -- you pick!!

4.  Wrap some 3/8" Satin Calypso Coral Ribbon around the lower portion of the basket and tie a bow.

5.  Stamp the bunny image from the Fable Friends stamp set in Jet Black Staz-On ink on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock cut with the Stitched Rectangle Framelit measuring 1-7/8" x 3-3/16".

6.  Using your AquaPainter and Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake, Petal Pink, and Granny Apple Green ink refills, color your "Peter Rabbit" image.  Remember:  This is watercoloring ~ there is no "right" or "wrong."  Play and have fun and let the "watercolor feel" of your image play out on its own!

7.  Mat with a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock, and pop with dimensionals to the front of your basket.

8.  Stamp "Easter Greetings" on Shimmery White cardstock using Calypso Coral ink; then punch out with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch.

9.  Punch a 1-1/2" Circle from Vellum, and back to the sentiment circle with SNAIL.  Attach to the front of the bunny image, slightly offset, with Dimensionals.

10.  Embellish with little flowers punched with the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack (or other framelits dies if you don't have these), and pearls to complete your cute basket!!

 

To Make the Carrots:

1. Chose the Pumpkin Pie dotted swiss pattern from the Regals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Collection, and the Mango Melody dotted swiss pattern from the Brights 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper Collection.  Cut each piece with the Petite Treats Framelits and using the the straight edge option for treat pouch (not the curved or heart-shapes).  

2.  Using Tear & Tape, curve and seal/close your "sour cream" treat pouch on the long edge; then close at the bottom (without sealing shut - we will use a "clip" to hold the bottom of our carrots closed). 

3.  Cut  x  strips of Granny Apple Green and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock; cut "grass" with your Paper Snips (or the Fringe Scissors if you own them - ret.).  Attach to the "top" of your carrot inside the opening using Tear & Tape; add additional Tear & Tape, and close the top of your "carrot" treat pouch.

4.  Attach a 3/8" Satin Calypso Coral Ribbon bow using glue dots at the top of each "carrot" near the grass edging.

5.  Fill with treats and "clip" the bottom of your "carrot" closed (or seal with Tear & Tape if you would like).

6.  Set in your cute basket and get ready for a FABULOUS Easter!!  :-)

 

And there you go!  Fabulous, fun, and perfectly wonderously cute Easter Basket full of sweet treats!!  Hope you enjoyed cracking open our CASE today.  We'll see what's inside the suitcase next week!!

Mix-It Up Mondays . . . Grown With Kindness Shadow Box

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Well it was a wild and crazy, cold and snowy, type of weekend!  Just so busy it seems!  Although I did finally put my feet up yesterday afternoon and just vedge with a "Mad Man" binge watching -- so miss that show!!  LOL

 

But before that . . . . I had like the most fun ever playing with the February Paper Pumpkin kit - Grown With Kindness.  This kit was just so fabulous -- not just because of the really cool stamp set, but I LOVED the "realism" photographic cards.

 

What I love even more is being part of a community that shares so many fabulous ideas for Paper Pumpkin kit alternatives - and I adore one of our fellow demonstrator peeps, Rachel Tessman, who is always so able to think "outside the paper pumpkin box."  So today's "Mix-It Up Monday" project is thanks to her!!  and BIG hugs sent her way!!

This Shadow Box is going up in my "new home" with my future husband!!  I know EXACTLY where I'm going to put it!!  LOL  And I'm over the moon about it, I just have to tell you.  I went back and forth about the little extra "touches" inbetween my photos; but in the end I went for it!  I can always take off the "succulent leaves" if I want !

I recently stocked up on a variety of 9" x 9" Shadow Boxes from Michael's in several different frame colors.  This frame I thought was like absolutely Perfect for this project!  It brings out these colors in the photos.  So my project today is adapted for a 9" x 9" shadow box; come with me and I'll show what I came up with!

 

The background board in this shadow box is already covered with the coolest tweedie-type fabric in a lovely neutral color.  I loved it so much that I thought, why on earth would I cover this up!!  It's the perfect backdrop for this project!  So instead of cutting a 9" x 9" piece of cardstock in some color or another -- I used this as my background instead.

 

I cut my photos from the kit in the same measurements as Rachel's; but then I decided I really wanted to mat them out in double-colors; so these are double-matted in Mossy Meadow and Fresh Fig.  I'll give you the measurements for everything below.

The sentiment is stamped in Fresh Fig ink on Whisper White cardstock, and then cut with the Layering Circles Framelits; with a Fresh Fig scallop circle cut to mat it.

It is popped with dimensionals; a white baker's twine bow is added, along with lots of lovely clear enamel dots not only on the circle but strategically across the entire art piece.

Then I added one final touch - creating "succulent leaves" with my Leaf Punch, from Garden Green and Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, then sponging Tranquil Tide ink onto the leaves with a sponge dauber; finally I snipped the leaves apart, curved them with a bone folder, and assembled my succulent at the corners of several photos using glue dots.

 

 

What a lovely way to use this month's kit and showcase these gorgeous images.

I'm going to CASE a couple other ideas this week - I'm just in love with what you can do with this month's kit.

Mix-It Up Mondays . . . Key to My Heart Wall Art

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Happy Monday!  It was a waaaaaay to fast weekend.  We got hit with a fast and furious snowstorm on Friday afternoon.  So I cozied in at Mike's house on Friday night and Saturday, and we spent time moving, sorting and unpacking items from my house to his house.  This is going to be a HUGE process - yuck!  BUT . . .  we are purging a lot of stuff we don't need anymore!  So that's always good!  LOL

 

So I did bury myself in the Studio for awhile yesterday; and then I cooked a wonderful meal last night - a bunch of Pioneer Woman recipes I've been wanting to try!  Lots' of spiciness to our meal last night - LOL  But so fun!  I enjoy cooking and trying new things.

 

So let's "Mix-It Up!" a bit today, and show you a fun piece of "artwork" for either your desk, table, dresser, wall - or wherever you'd love to have it!  This one is really easy but so pretty!

 

This fun little piece is created by using the Large Letters Framelits combined with the new Be Mine Stitched Framelits to create a sweet and pretty little piece of framed artwork.

 

This frame was purchased at Michael's.  It is part of a 5-Pack for $20.  It's a good deal - that makes them $4 each - Fabulous!!!  It's a 5" x 7" inside the beveled mat, so it's perfect for what I wanted to do here.  I used the beveled mat to my benefit, placing the piece of dotted diagonal stripe designer series paper from the All My Love Designer Series Paper on the backside of the mat so it shows through the opening.

 

I cut the letters and the heart from Shimmery White paper.

Then stamped the letters with the pretty rose image in the Meant to Be stamp set in Lovely Lipstick.

I drew a very light pencil line in with a ruler where I wanted it on the DSP so I could line up my letters just right! (you can erase it later if you want - mine isn't showing up that much so I haven't messed with it)

Then it's finished off with a sweet little bow from the 1/2" White-stitched Lovely Lipstick ribbon - and just the perfect finishing touch of a little key from the Classic Garage Metal Elements hung from the bow with some Whisper White Baker's Twine -

It's meant to tell your love that they have the "key to your heart" - how cute is that!! 

 

Did you notice that when you cut the intricate heart out, that a little tiny heart pops out of the bottom?  I used it over between the "V" and the "E".

 

 

Finally I finished off the piece with two Lovely Lipstick heart cutouts (once again from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies), attached to the corner and outer edge of the frame itself.

Technique Tip: Stack two dimensionals together underneath the top heart to lift it to the same level as the edge of the frame where the other heart is attached.

Create a pretty bow by pulling apart the strands of the new Whisper White 5/8" Flax Ribbon.  So pretty!

 

This pretty little project will be taught in my Valentine's Class this coming Saturday!

Everyone gets to take home a fun piece of artwork!

Case-Out Thursdays - Bubble, Bubble, Toil & Trouble, In a Picture Frame!

Happy "Friday" to me; Happy "Friday" to me!!  LOL

Thankful and blessed that this is an off-Friday week, and so today is my official "Friday" at work.  Considering I've been feeling slightly under the weather all week, I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning for sure!!

And the weekend ahead promises to be full of spooky fun, beautiful Fall weather and probably some yummy apple cider and bubbling chili in the crock pot as well (no toil or trouble there!!)

"CASE-Out" Design Guide

1. Cut the background matting for your 5" x 7" picture frame as follows:  Basic Black - 5" x 7"; Gorgeous Grape - 4-3/4" x 6-3/4"; Green Polka-Dot print from the Toil & Trouble DSP - 4-1/2" x 6-1/2".  Layer together using SNAIL. Then set aside for now.

2.  Your choice - either "fussy cut" a witch of your choice from the Toil & Trouble DSP, or line up the framelit from the Cauldron Framelits Die set with the one it matches in the DSP and use that cute little witch for your scene; line up the framelit for the cauldron and the little cat and cut both of those out of the DSP as well.  [My witch is a "fussy cut" witch in today's sample; the catalog showcases the one that matches the framelit.]

3.  Use the spider web from the die set and cut two spider webs from the Black Foil paper.

4.  Using your largest Stitched Shapes Square framelit, align on one end of your 3" x 5" Whisper White cardstock.  Use your Magnetic Platform to hold in place, and align the top cutting plate just shy of the "inside" edge of the square so that it doesn't cut when you go through the Big Shot.  Then, re-align the square so it overlaps  the cut you just made, and re-set your plate so that you can cut the other side of the cardstock.  This is how you create your rectangle with the stitched edges.

Here we have cut one side, and now we're aligned to cut the other side.

You can see how I've overlapped the edge of the square so that the sides overlap and match the cut I already made.

Then the top cutting plate is set just shy of the edge of the square so that it doesn't cut down the middle of my rectangle and ruin it.

5.  Layer your Whisper White stitched "rectangle" to your 4-3/4" x 2-3/4" piece of Copper Foil.  Put SNAIL (or Fast Fuse) on the back upper right corner, and lower left corners, and attach your spider webs (however you'd like them to peak out or look).  Then SNAIL this piece to the front of the layers we created in Step 1.

6.  Attach your Witch with regular dimensionals; your Cauldron with SNAIL; and your little kitty with mini-dimensionals.  Stamp your sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Snip off the "loop" on the end of your spider(s) with a heavy duty wire cutter (they come right off, no problem!), and attach where you'd like with a glue dot.  Then color various sized pearls with the light and dark Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends.  Add an assortment of the pearls mixed with the Gold Metallic Pearls.  Finish off with a little Basic Black Baker's Twine bow (use a glue dot to attach), and place it in your frame of choice!!

 

Truly Spooktacular fun!!  LOL  I would also add a little Clear Wink of Stella to your Witch's apron, and the bubbly brew if you were so inclined.  Just some added sparkle and fun!
