"All That Sparkles & Shines" - December 2018 Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop

And here we are at the second Wednesday of December 2018 - so hard to believe how quickly the time has passed since our last blog hop!  But once again, we've come together to share oodles of fun and creativity!  Welcome!!  We’re so glad you’re here!  December is time for glitz and bling with  “All that Sparkles & Shines.”  Today we feature projects that sparkle or shine.  Maybe even a little of both.  And just in time for the holidays!!

Today's project took its inspiration directly from our blog hop logo this month.  I loved the logo so much, I just kept thinking, how could I recreate that beautiful scene!

 

So I created a very special (and simple) Gate Fold card, that showcases plenty of "sparkle and shine" with glimmer and shimmer galore!!  To create this simple Gate Fold - Cut a piece of cardstock 4-1/4" x 11", and score at 2-3/4" and at 8-1/2".

I also got to finally sit down and play a little more with the Beautiful Blizzard bundle that I really just adore, but have not had nearly enough time to experiment with.

 

This card has a wonderful belly band to hold it closed and keep what's inside a secret from the recipient until they pull that band off and open it wide for the big surprise inside!

The belly band is cut from Champagne Foil paper, and Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper (sadly this paper is sold out) to match the front panels of the card.  The snowflakes in this particular design have a copper shimmer that is perfect for my vision.  The belly band is then also wrapped with 5/8" Merry Merlot & Copper Reversible Ribbon - copper side up (also sold out now - sigh :-().  I created a "background" on Very Vanilla cardstock using the "splotch" image (that's what I call it - LOL) from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set and varying the colors of Poppy Parade and Merry Merlot (you've got to try this combination!!); then stamped the sentiment in Versamark, heat embossed it with Copper Embossing Power, and cut it to size, snipping the ends to create a banner effect.  The belly band is finished off with a Copper Glimmer paper snowflake (using the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper collection), and a gorgeous double bow from the ribbon.  If you didn't get a spool of this ribbon, I am crying for you!  It is so gorgeous and makes one of these bows like perfectly!!

Does it resemble our logo?

I had so much fun creating this -- the Blizzard Thinlits Die cuts out a whole "flock" of snowflakes in all sizes at once (can I refer to a whole kittenkabootle of snowflakes as a "flock"? - LOL)

So I cut a batch from Copper Glimmer paper; and a batch from Merry Merlot Glimmer paper - and went to town layering and playing.

 

Here you can see my "created" background paper on the right and left-hand inside panels, and on the oval sentiment - so pretty.  And with a nice black felt tip pen, you could write a personal message right on that paper.

The sentiment is also from the stamp set, again Versamarked and heat embossed with Copper Embossing Power, cut with the Layering Ovals, and matted with Champagne Foil.

I refrained from adding any pearls, rhinestones, or epoxy shapes simply to keep the card from having too much bumpiness or bulk for mailing.  But you could certainly add to your heart's content - and it would be so pretty!!

This card literally sparkles and shines with every move in your hands.  I wish you could see it in person - it is so pretty!!

"Wicked Folds" ~ October 2018 Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop

Oh My!!  It's the Second Wednesday of October and that can mean only one thing . . .  Welcome to the Pals October 2018 Blog Hop.  As I promised yesterday, we're kicking off the spooky time of year; so watch out for “Wicked Folds” today while you hop from blog-to-blog.  I cannot promise it won't be "too" scary ~~ LOL ~~ but here today, it will be "less tricks" and "more treats."

Today I'm featuring  what I'm calling the Vertical Stretch "Wicked" Fun Fold!

 

 

This fold is easy to cut and score, and creates a really fun an fabulous "showcase" that fits right into our regular envelopes.

And look how much fun it is to decorate each panel - truly a feast for the eyes!!  A real showcase!

Besides - I'm head over witchy heels for the new Cauldron Bubble bundle - and the coordinating Toil & Trouble DSP

 

Cut your cardbase like you would a vertical top fold card - 4-1/4" x 11"; then score at 2-3/4", 4-1/4", 7-1/4", and 8-1/2"

Just make sure you fold the panels correctly (a modified Z-Fold in some ways)

Let's take a close up look at each panel.

 

Did you know that the framelits in the Cauldron Framelits set coordinate with some of the images in the Toil & Trouble Designer Series Paper?

This means you can snip that adorable kitty cat right out with the framelit and never have to stamp or ink a thing!!  LOL

I did fussy cut the pumpkin from the paper - and some added Clear Wink of Stella adds a fabulous glimmer to this fun scene.

The spider web thinlit from the die set is my new favorite!!  I cut it from the new Black Foil, and attached a Spider Trinket with a glue dot.  I love this!

 

Here's another "cut out" from the paper - which means if you just don't have time to stamp and color the sweet little girl witch with your Stampin' Blends, just cut the coordinated image from the paper with the framelit, and you're set to go!  Same with my frothy cauldron.  I did stamp my frog, who thinks things look a little fishy from his perspective!

I used the wonderful banner framelit from the Take Out Thinlits to cut the "Bubble Bubble" sentiment; and the oval from the Night Owl Thinlits to cut my "no tricks" sentiment.  Do you love the rock 'n roll technique on the sentiment?  Lemon Lime Twist and Mango Melody -- what a wonderful combination!!

 

The bottom panel showcases the witch hats that are also cut out from the designer paper with the coordinating framelit.  How quick and easy!!  And there are so many wonderful hats that paper!  I'm "head over heels" or hats for these ;-)  LOL

 

Finally I created a "belly band" to hold my card closed with the new Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon.  It slides off and on nicely and holds everything in place.

I might even forego the envelope and just gift the card this way!  ;-)

 

 

 

And there you are!  How fun was that!  With the finishing touches like faceted dots and Clear Wink of Stella, this is quite the work of art.  I've got to find a place to show it off!!  Yeah!

Mix-It Up Mondays ~~ A Cake Soiree Flip Card

Hello Fellow Stampers :-)

Happy Monday!  Here we go with a "long" week ahead of us.  I'm hoping it will be a little smoother of a week than last week.  Certain, I'm crossing my fingers for warmer temps!  Miss Sadie Ann is going to be happy as a clam to go play with her BFF's today.  I kept her home all last week as it was just way too cold to be outside for little paws.

 

Today we're going to create a "flip" fold card, using the wonderful Cake Soiree bundle - one of my favorites for birthday cards right now.  And I'm going to showcase the fabulous Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit in today's project as well -- so gorgeous!!

 

 

 

A flip card can be created with any solid framelit type die that we have - it's easy!

The card base is cut 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", and then you score at 4-1/4", and at 2-1/8".

Then it's all about how you run that die through the Big Shot - I'll do a short tutorial on this soon!!

 

Here is the card spread open.

The front 2-1/8" panel was embossed with the Petal Pair (floral image) Texuted Impressions Embossing Folder; then sponged with Powder Pink, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive inks.  So soft and pretty!

And here is where I jumped in and used all the pretty pieces and parts of the gorgeous Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit.  This kit has all the pretty cakes, flowers, etc - all stamped and ready to be punched out and used (all cut out for you already).  You will find pre-stamped/colored and die cut flower sprays, both on whisper white cardstock, and then silver foil flowers and leaf stems on vellum -- just gorgeous.  The kit includes little white clothespins, a beautiful Marina Mist blue velvet ribbon, and a teeny tiny silver stripe washi tape along with some sweet little paper tassels. 

 

 

This is the inside back panel.  Here you can see I used one of the pre-cut/stamped floral sprays, backed with some of the beautiful silver embossed vellum flower and leaf stems.  I popped this up with dimensionals and laid it over a strip of the gorgeous Berry Burst 3/8" Metallic-Edged Ribbon.

Then the sentiment was stamped with Versamark and embossed with Silver embossing powder; then punched out with the Pretty Label Punch.  Also popped with dimensionals - I laid one of the Marina Mist tassels behind it - and finished it off with Glitter Enamel Dots.

 

Here's the back side of the front flap/fold.  On the "flip fold" I used two of the pre-cut cakes from the kit.  All I did was color in the flowers on the cakes with Stampin' Write markers to match the color scheme of this suite.  I used the pink cake on the "front" flip; and the yellow cake on the back of the "flip" panel.  For the back side of the flip panel - I added a pretty piece of Sweet Soiree Specialty DSP, another one of the pre-die cut floral sprays, and then several of the Vellum silver embossed flower stems to the cake itself; finished off with a Petal Passion Embellishment.

 

And here you can see the card from the front with the folds in place.  I colored on the vellum cutouts from the back side to add some "stained glass" color, and then attached these to the back of the sentiment die cut circle for the front cake - popped with dimensionals.

Case-Out Thursdays ~ A Charming Cafe Tri-Fold

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~

 

I'm sooooo happy that today is my "Friday!"  You just have no idea.  There is a lot going on around here right now, and I'm just exhausted.  So, once the appraiser has come by the house tomorrow afternoon I'm going to collapse -- LOL  All I can say is at least most of the carpets will have been cleaned, and lots of little nooks and crannies that seem to get missed a lot I discovered this week.  And I honestly think I'll be able to sit down and relax over the weekend.

Anyone heading off to a good movie this weekend?  I'm really wanting to see Phantom Thread and The 15:17 to Paris.  How about all of you?

 

It's time to unlock this week's suitcase and see what we find inside.  And you know me ~ I like to find our more detailed and complicated projects to showcase, and today is no different.  Although, all-in-all, I'm not sure that today's card is so much "complicated" as it is just simply elegant and beautiful with it's "simplistic" details.  Off we go on our adventure . . .

"CASE-Out" Design Guide

1. Score the 5" x 10-3/8" Thick Whisper White cardstock at 3-1/2" and at 7".  Fold the right side panel in, and then the left side over it.  Gently burnish with your bone folder.   

 

2.  On the inside center panel, create a "watercolor wash" look using your Light Pool Party Stampin' Blend Marker.  Do this by using the brush tip and coloring across the page.  Layer several times until you get the effect you want.  Stamp the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

 

3.  On the "outside" of the right-hand fold, stamp the cafe table/chairs image; then use the square with partial cafe set cut-out die to cut out this section of the card. [See below]  Color in your image using Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, and Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends set.

 

Again, it is important to do "test" cutouts of all the dies in your set to see what they do.

In this die set there is a die that "frames" and cuts out the cafe table set completely; and then, as you can see here to the right hand side, there is a framelit that creates an opening in a card front by cutting a "square", and just the top of the cafe table set.  Kind of cool, right??  😉

 

4.  On the front panel of the card, attach a piece of Crumb Cake striped paper from the Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper Pack, measuring 3-1/2" x 5", with SNAIL.  Then line up and cut out of the center of the panel with the "smaller" of the two floral circle die cutouts in the die set.  [Let's discuss in the image below].

Now let's talk about the set of dies to the left in this image above.

These two dies work together as you can see from the cut out.  They are meant to cut out the Floral oval image in the stamp set.  One cuts around the outside; one cuts out the inside creating this pretty cutout that perfectly frames the flowers in the stamped image.

On the card in today's CASE, you will use the smaller "inside" die to cut the circle out on the front of the card.  CAUTION:  Be sure when you cut that circle out that you have the "bumpy" parts of the die to the top and the bottom. these are the inside cuts of the flower image and you want them to line up.

Because . . . when you stamp your image on Lemon Lime Twist cardstock you will cut it out using both of these dies and then adhere it to the front of the card.

5.  Which leads us to step 5 - stamp the flower oval image from the Charming Cafe stamp set using Memento Tuxedo Black on Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.  Color the flowers and leaves in the image using Old Olive and Calypso Coral Stampin' Blend marker sets.  Then cut the image out with the coordinating dies discussed above.  Attach  to the front of the card around the pre-cut opening using Fine-Tip Glue.

6.  Tie a piece of Basic Black Baker's Twine around the outside front panel of the card, and you have finished this fun project.

 

Don't you just love how that lines up and looks when it's all together??

What a fun card with all its window openings and cut outs -- I love it!!

Mix-It Up Mondays ~~ Sure Do Love You Simple Accordian Card

Good Morning Fellow Stampers :-)

Here we are . . . a bright Monday morning.  We're crisp and cold here today after a big snowstorm throughout the day yesterday.  I have about 10 inches of snow outside my home; but in Colorado that comes and goes so quickly, we're hardly know it was here in a couple of days -- LOL 

I'm having some fun today with another "fun fold" card.  This one is a "simple" accordian fold.  There are many different accordian folds out there.  I am pleased to showcase this one today as it is simple and easy to put together; and that is sometimes just what you need when you want something special, but don't have time for a complicated "fold."

 

And, we are going to do lots of playing this week in preparation for Valentine's Day.  So I hope you are ready to play with Cupid's hearts !!  😍

 

 

 

Today's "fancy fold" is cut from Thick Very Vanilla cardstock, 11" x 4-1/4".  Score at 2-3/4", 5-1/2", and 8-1/4" to create 4 even sections.  The sections are going to measure 2-3/4" x 4-1/4" each.  So the Powder Pink cardstock mat, and the Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper will each be cut an 1/8" smaller for each layer (i.e., Powder Pink - 2-5/8" x 4-1/8"; DSP 2-1/5" x 4").  I then cut each letter from Gold Foil; then I sized the Oval Stitched Shape Framelit I wanted against the letter and cut those in Very Vanilla; and then in turn a Scalloped Oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits, cut in Gold Foil again.  Once these were set in each section, I had some fun with "decorating."

 

I wrapped a "faux" bow on the front panel in a bright pop of Berry Burst.

Then used the Painted Love Gold Foil Stickers as easy accents for the "pink" panels.

 

In turn, I cut hearts from Painted With Love Specialty Designer Series Paper using the cute hearts from the Lots to Love Box Framelits, to accent the vanilla and gold panels.

 

On the very last panel I added a special sentiment in Powder Pink classic ink - also from the Sure Do Love You stamp set and framelits.

 

Pearls are the finishing touch to this design - as always!  😉

 

When it's all folded up, the size is 4-1/4" x 2-3/4".  A really cute fun size that you can easily slip into an envelope - or make a special envelope for using our Envelope Punch Board.
