Not in the Blog Hop - You Are Amazing!!

Hello Fellow Stampers ~~

It always amazes me how quickly time goes by.  I could swear it was just yesterday that it was time for the Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop; and this one snuck up on me for sure!!  This month's Pal's Blog Hop theme was "Random Acts of Kindness Week."  Just so happens my work/company is also celebration this fun week - which is the week of February 13th (next week), to coincide with Valentine's Day.  Seems apropos, don't you think?  Since I'm not joining the actual Hop, we'll share the fun at our own pace this week; but take the opportunity to share a wonderful design of encouragement.  I think we've got some wonderful stamp sets and products to help make someone's day!!

 

I am absolutely in love with the new By the Bay Suite of products.  Even better, this lovely suite of products coordinates beautifully with the Season of Chic bundle in the Annual Catalog.  So today's design brings in elements from both sets to share a special message with a special someone!

 

This card is designed from a card base of Thick Basic White, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4", with the fold to the top.

I picked this gorgeous piece of designer paper from the By the Bay Specialty DSP collection.  I love all the paper in that collection with all the beautiful pearlescent foiling, that it's hard to choose!!

The designer paper is matted with a piece of Starry Sky cardstock, and attached to the front of the card base.

 

Then I got to the fun part!!

The sentiment is from the Season of Chic stamp set, stamped in Starry Sky classic ink, and die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies.

This is popped with dimensionals over an intertwined piece of Starry Sky 1/8" Metallic Ribbon, that I frayed slightly on the ends.

Then I used a combination of Seaside Bay Dies and Chic Dies using both By the Bay Specialty DSP and Gold Metallic Specialty Paper, to cut the dies out with.

These pieces are layered and tucked using glue dots, dimensionals and other adhesives where appropriate.

The card is amazing!!!

Terrific Tuesdays ~~ A Country Bouquet Valentine

Hello Fellow Stampers ~~

Ooops!  Well, that was an unplanned break!  It's been busy around here.  We held the Annual Valentine class a week and a half ago.  So things were hectic getting ready for an afternoon of fun!  And boy, did we ever!  I so "love" the Annual Valentine Class!!  LOL

And with Valentine's right around the corner now, it's time for us to have some Valentine's fun on the blog too!!  So today, I'm going to share a card inspired by a picture in a catalog!!

 

  

Do any of you get the Better Homes & Garden's magazine?  My January/February issue arrived awhile back, and I finally had a few moments recently to sit down and browse through it.  This issue showcased some simple DIY card ideas; and when I saw this one, my mind started spinning.  I was just sure I could create something similar with our Stampin' Up! products in the current Spring Mini!!

Yes, I find inspiration everywhere for creative designs for my cards!!

I used our new Country Bouquet Bundle to create my version of the very simple card showcased in the Better Homes & Gardens magazine.

I used Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green for my inks; and punched the hearts from the new Vellum Basics for the vellum popped up hearts.

Taking a closer look, the base for this card is Thick Basic White, cut 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2".

The "peek" of pink is Melon Mambo cut 4" x 5-1/4".  The focal layer of Basic White is 1/16" smaller for a "beveled edge" look that allows that hot pink to just peek around the edge.

 

The "flower" was stamped by first inking the sentiment to create the "stem"; and then inking just the larger heart on the stamp with Melon Mambo ink and stamping four hearts in a semi-circle around the 'tip' of the stem.

Then I punched the hearts out of the dotted design of the vellum, curved them slightly with my bone folder and attached with 2-way glue along that curved edge, between each stamped heart.

I finished off with a 3/8" Polished Pink Open Weave ribbon bow, that is attached right at the center where all those heart tips come together.

 

The wonderful thing about our photopolymer stamps, is that you can "curve" and bend them to create different looks and lines.  In this case, I bent the sentiment and curved it up and then down to create my "stem" to my flower.  It worked so well!!

The leaves are in a mixture of Granny Apple Green and Pear Pizzazz cardstocks, punched with the Country Bouquet Punch.

The design is finished off with Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels.

A Week of Sale-A-Bration - Hoot Hoot You're So Cute!!

Got a little bit way-laid Thursday into Friday; so this next post for our Week of Sale-a-Bration is running a little behind.  Nevertheless, the card that I was designing was soooo cute -- I couldn't wait to share it with you, so here we are!!!  More creative fun!

 

 

The minute I saw the Adorable Owls set in the Sale-A-Bration brochure, I fell in love - LOL

These little guys truly ARE "adorable"!!

I combined our little feathered friend with Strawberry Sorbet and elements from our new Country Floral Lane Suite, as well as some other fun products, to come up with today's fun design.  Our own friend is front and center bringing a friendly message.

 

On a 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2", Basic White Thick cardbase, is a layer of Sweet Sorbet measuring 3-3/4" x 5"; off-set with the piece of designer paper from the Country Floral Lane DSP, measuring the same size.

The focal layer is a piece of 3-1/4" x 4" Shimmery White cardstock which has been cut on the left side with the "edgelit" in the Blossoming Happiness Dies that looks like the edge of notebook paper (one of my favorites!).

 

My little feathered friend was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Shimmery White cardstock, and colored with Soft Suede and Light (SU800) Stampin' Blend markers.  I even added a little Clear Wink of Stella to the feathers for some added extra shimmer before fussy cutting him out.  He sits on a scalloped punched heart which is popped with dimensionals over Sweet Sorbet 1/8" Metallic Woven Ribbon.

 

I finished off with heart "bouquets" punched right from the Country Floral Lane designer paper with the new Country Bouquet Punch.  The sentiment is stamped on a rectangle of Sweet Sorbet cardstock with Versamark ink, and heat embossed with White embossing powder.

So cute!!!

Mix-It Up Mondays ~~ For the Love of Chocolate - and Time Is Running OUT!!

Hellooooooooo Fellow Stampers ~

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaacccckkk!!!  It would seem that I have survived the oral surgery; at least, so far, so good!!  Last week was somewhat of a rough week for me; but coming out of this weekend, I am feeling much more myself!!  Whew! So, cross our fingers, that this implant is settling into place, and that everything will heal the way it should and we have no issues!!  I'm holding my breath!!!  LOL

I did do some embroidery and sewing through the week last week; but it was like a little puttering here, a little puttering there.  I just didn't have a lot in me.  So it's nice to be returning to the work table, and the Studio as a whole, and feeling like I'm ready to play!  Hey, I even took down the Valentine decorations in the house today -- and put up the St. Patty's Day fun!!  Whoo Hooo -- 😉😉😉

 

I've been eyeing this card that I started the weekend right after surgery, and just didn't have the energy to finish . . .  I hope you like how it came out, because I'm lovin' it!!!

I thought we'd close out the "month of love" with our most favorite thing to love -- chocolate!!!

And . . . showcase this fabulous bundle from the Annual Catalog while we're at it!!  Did you know that our Annual Catalog, under the new cycle, retires the end of April??  That's right!!  We only have 2 more months to enjoy our current Annual Catalog ~~ and that means there's a NEW Annual Catalog right around the corner!!  Wow! So Exciting!!

But that also means, we have to start preparing to say good-bye to a lot of wonderful products.  So, you will see me showcasing some wonderful things from our Annual Catalog over these next weeks, as we prepare for the Retiring List.  

This stamp set (Nothing's Better Than), and the coordinating die set (Love Your More Than Dies) is one I have not played with much.  And I cannot figure out why!!  It is absolutely adorable, and I had so much fun!!  The set showcases chocolate, coffee, cookies and more; and has some really fun sentiments.  I LOVE (see what I did there? - LOL) how the dies cut out all these fabulous words!

I decided Pale Papaya would be a fabulous backdrop for anything chocolate . . . so this card base is cut from Pale Papaya cardstock, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored @ 4-1/4".  I pulled the designer paper choice from the Hand-Penned Designer Series Pack, one of my favorite papers in the Annual Catalog.

Then I wrapped the front layers with a beautiful piece of Pale Papaya 3/8" Open Weave Ribbon, and tied a cute little bow in the lower left-hand corner.

I used one of my most favorite, and definite "go-to" die sets, the Scalloped Contour Dies - to cut the center focal panel out of Shimmery White cardstock.  Then I used a blending brush to add Pale Papaya color around the edges to soften and "antique" it a little.

Then I used the dies to cut the first set of words from Pale Papaya - and the second "Chocolate" from Cinnamon Cider cardstock.

Tips & Tricks:  Put a piece of Adhesive Sheet on the back of your cardstock before cutting delicate dies like this.  It makes it so easy to just peel off the backing and adhere the finished product to your project!!  No glue!!  No mess!!

I stamped my little chocolate trios in Memento Tuxedo Black, and used Cinnamon Cider, Crumb Cake, and Soft Suede Stampin' Blends to color them in.  Then they're popped on the card front with dimensionals.

The two hears in the upper right-hand corner are cut from the Sweet Hearts Dies using the same DSP; and I finished it all off with the pretty little Polished Dots which exactly match my Pale Papaya color scheme.

Ooops!  My inside picture "fuzzed" out on me -- but I think you can still see the cute sentiment; and here I stamped the chocolate outline and used the 2-step stamp to stamp the insides all in Soft Suede for easy peasy finishing touches.

CASE-Out Thursdays - Re-Designing the Envelope Card

Well . . . it's official!!  We have woken up to another 8" of snow this morning!  And they're predicting more this coming Monday!  I think I'm ready for Spring!!!

Thus, I may start doing LOTS of flower cards soon to lift myself out of the winter doldrums!!  Hope you won't mind!  LOL

We're doing a "case-out" card today; and I'm CASEing my very own card which I presented to you several weeks ago HERE.  I'm going to show you a modified version of my "envelope card", in which I've made measurement adjustments, and added a straight edge overlay that has changed the look of this "fun fold" card somewhat.

For today's modified version of my first card, I adjusted the measurements . . .

So this card base is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" -- but the scoring is at 2-1/2" and 6-1/2" on the 8-1/2" side. (so just a slight adjustment on the 2nd score measurement from our previous card).

So let's jump in a take a little closer look at today's "CASE-Out" design.

To create the front fold-over flap for today's card design, I adhered a piece of heart patterned designer paper from the Sweet Talk DSP collection, that covers the entire front flap (measuring 2" x 5-1/2"); but first I attached a 1" x 5-1/2" Real Red strip of cardstock that sticks out/overlays the edge of the front flap by approximately 3/8".  This creates a fabulous decorative edge as well as a nice extra extension to overlay the fold beneath.

Here you can see the back side of the front flap so you can better see the Real Red edge extension/overlay.

I also used the "magnet technique" from my previous envelope fold card (you can see the tutorial HERE) to create a secure closure for the flaps to hold the card shut.  On this card, I hid the magnets beneath the DSP on the front and back of the front flap.

The tucked under flap has no layers to it; this time I created a design simply by stamping randomly with the different cute hearts in the Sweet Conversations stamp set.  Then finished off with From My Heart Faceted Gems that show both when the flaps are closed and when open.

On the front flap, I created a popped up "overlay" that has a piece of the Highland Heather 1/2" Grosgrain ribbon behind a Square Vellum Doily.  Then I die cut a heart from the Ombre Specialty Paper in Poppy Parade using the Bouquet of Love Dies; and finished off the focal point with fussy cut images from the Sweet Talk DSP.  The sentiment is also stamped on DSP and fussy cut and popped in place.

The inside of the card has a simple "stamped off" panel with some of the images in the Sweet Conversations stamp set, all set to write a personal message to the recipient!
