"CASE-Out" Design Guide

1. Score your 11" x 4-1/4" Thick Very Vanilla cardstock base at 5-1/2", and gently fold and burnish with your bone folder.  Reminder:  The "raised bump" of your score line goes to the inside to create that beautiful professional fold.

2.  Layer your DSP, Champagne Foil and Pear Pizzazz layers together with SNAIL and attach to the card front.

3.  Lay down some SNAIL adhesive across the middle of the card and layer approximately 15-1/2" of 5/8" Crumb Cake Satin-Edge Ribbon (from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack), across the front middle of the card.

4.  Using the Stitched Nested Labels Dies cut the 4-3/8" long die from Champagne Foil; and the 3-3/4" long die (measurements are approximate) from Pear Pizzazz cardstock.

5.  Stamp the Pear Pizzazz Nested Label with the large leaf image in the Gather Together stamp set using Pear Pizzazz ink (toward the center bottom).  Stamp the dotted scatter image using Soft Suede ink, stamping off first and then numerous times across the label to keep the dots "light".

6.  Layer the two labels together and attach to the front of the card base using dimensionals.

7.  Stamp the large leaf image in Early Espresso ink on Shimmery White cardstock; color with Watercolor Pencils (no water/just shading); cut out with the corresponding die in the Gathered Leaves Dies.

8.  Cut the larger of the 3 emboss/die leaf dies from Soft Sea Foam, Champagne Foil, Pool Party and Crumb Cake cardstock.

9.  Using glue dots, attach and arrange your leaves in a "spray" near the top right of your Nested Labels (so that the Pear Pizzazz leaf peeks out at the bottom).

10.  Stamp the "May this season" sentiment using Early Espresso ink on a "log" wood element from the Tags & Feathers elements set.  Tie a piece of Mossy Meadow Twine from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack through the hole at the top of the element tag.  Attach where your leaf die stems come together using Multi-Purpose glue.

11.  Finish off the front of the card with a scattering of Basic Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

Hugs, . . .

Wednesday Spotlight ~~ Simply Thankful with Gathered Leaves Card & Treat Box

Wednesday Spotlight Blog Cover

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

My goodness!  The sun is shining!!  That's a GOOD thing!!!  LOL  As soon as this blog post is settled and on its way to everyone, I'm going to head out and down to Colorado Springs to pick up the Mom-in-Law.  I'm crossing my fingers that the roads on the route I've chosen will be clear and dry!!  No ice please!!

In case you haven't noticed, this week has been focused on "gathering together," "gratefulness," and Thanksgiving at large.  Today I want to combine several products suites together and share with you a very special card and "keepsake box" for the guests arriving at your home.

Country_Home_Gathered_Leaves_Mini-Curvy_Keepsake_Box_Duo_1

I like to have a welcome note and a little gift of chocolate waiting on the beds of my guests when they arrive to settle in.  You could also put this at your place settings for your guests if you'd like!

I designed this card and mini keepsake box for a nice handful of Hershey's Kisses to await my guests upon their arrival this week.

Country_Home_Gathered_Leaves_Mini-Curvy_Keepsake_Box_Duo_3

I've gone totally non-traditional on the color scheme for this design, inspired by the gorgeous paper in the Come to Gather DSP collection.

This design is totally wrapped around Pretty Peacock.

The card base is Thick Whisper White, cut 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4".  This is a "top fold" card.

I layered a background mat of Pretty Peacock cardstock cut 5-3/8" x 4-1/8"; then an overlayer of this beautiful paper cut 5-1/4" x 4".

Then I created the middle section by first laying down a top and bottom "border" using the Pretty Peacock 1/2" Scalloped Linen Ribbon.  (and yes, I eyeballed this - but if you want to know the result it's approximately 3/4" at top and bottom - top is a little wider than bottom on this card - and I cut the whisper white sentiment center section at 5-1/4" x 2-1/4", which is popped up with Dimensionals to allow for the thickness of the ribbon underneath).

Country_Home_Gathered_Leaves_Mini-Curvy_Keepsake_Box_Duo_5

The edge on this ribbon just simply makes the best and most beautiful little "edging" for my cards.

The sentiment is snagged from the Country Home stamp set stamped in Pretty Peacock classic ink.

Country_Home_Gathered_Leaves_Mini-Curvy_Keepsake_Box_Duo_4

Now here is where I just simply had the most fun!!

I twisted a piece of the ribbon in the background and used it as the "base" of my leaf spray.

I used the technique I "taught" you on Monday HERE and pressed my leaf dies in Pretty Peacock ink first before laying them on Vellum and cutting them out!  The result is stunning!  NOTE:  Ink takes a while to dry on Vellum - be careful not to smear when lifting your dies (use your pick up tool); and you could speed the drying process using your Heat Tool.

I also cut some leaves straight from Pretty Peacock cardstock and Shimmery White cardstock.

Finally I used the little twig spray in the Bouquet Bunch Dies and cut several from the "wood" paneled paper in the DSP collection.

Then I just used glue dots and played, laying my leaf spray out, layering it around and across my bow and just getting it the way I wanted.

It's finished off where the stems of the leaves meet with a double bow tied from the Braided Trim.

And we can't forget the Rhinestones - these from the Noble Peacock Rhinestone collection 😉

Country_Home_Gathered_Leaves_Mini-Curvy_Keepsake_Box_Duo_6

The inside is layered with Pretty Peacock and Whisper White cardstock.  Then I laid an additional strip of Pretty Peacock at the bottom (3/4" x 5-1/4") and then layered a piece of the ribbon centered across it.  I finished it all off with another sentiment from Country Home, and some of the leftover leaves.

Country_Home_Gathered_Leaves_Mini-Curvy_Keepsake_Box_Duo_7

I often wonder how many people are forgetting the adorable Mini Curvy Keepsake Box in the Holiday Occasions Catalog!!

I cut this one from matching designer paper, filled it with Hershey's Kisses; then after closing it up, I used one of the tags in the die set, stamped "Enjoy" from Country Home stamp set, added a few more matching leaves, and tied it on the handle with some more Braided Linen Trim.

Country_Home_Gathered_Leaves_Mini-Curvy_Keepsake_Box_Duo_2

I sure wish you could see this in person!  The vellu leaves are just gorgeous and the whole card just turned out so pretty - I'm having a hard time giving them away!!  LOL

As we step into the busy-ness of tomorrow - I want to Thank each and every one of you for supporting me and joining me here every day (well, almost every day -- LOL); I am SO GRATEFUL and THANKFUL for each and every one of you!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Terrific Tuesdays ~~ A Day of Thanks for Your Thanksgiving Table!

Terrific Tuesdays
 Hello Fellow Stampers ~~

Well -- we are buried in snow here -- a big storm blew in overnight and has left a blanket of white everywhere!   Well -- a VERY thick blanket actually -- 20" at last measure . . . .

77193238_10220356900783056_1922215417938444288_n

The first son's flight has been massively delayed coming into Denver.  Going to be interesting to see when they finally allow his plane to come in today.  We've put up the Christmas Tree; and I've started some of the big Turkey Day cooking; so it's pretty crazy around here right now!!

Day_of_Thanks_Placecards_1

There's a simple, cute little stamp set in the Fall section of our Holiday Occasions catalog, that I think might be getting overlooked!

It's called Day of Thanks - perfect for Thanksgiving!! - and it has a Turkey guys!!!  I LOVE it!!!  LOL

And it's perfect for this year's placecards for my Thanksgiving table.

Day_of_Thanks_Placecards_2

These placecards really are simple and FUN!!

I cut Crumb Cake cardstock at 4-1/2" x 5"; then I scored each one on the long side at 2-1/2".

I stamped the backgrounds with the feather image from the stamp set using Soft Suede ink.

I laid a piece of Mint Macaron 1/4" Textile Ribbon on the background.

Then I stamped the beautiful sentiment in Golden Glitz Delicata ink (sadly no longer available 😪) on a 1" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Then I popped it with dimensionals so it would sit just off the edge of the ribbon so it would show.

Then I went to work with Turkeys -- LOL;  Just some relaxing fun with Stampin' Blends and some easy fussy cutting.

Then I laid one flat on the background with SNAIL; and attached the other to the label with an extra dimensional so it would sit at the same level.

The Tags & Feathers Wooden Elements are the perfect finishing touch for this Thanksgiving rustic-feeling placecard.

And they're going to look great on my table - which I got all put together and set earlier this morning!!  Yeah!

Yup - We're getting ready around here for a big feast and some nice family time!

I hope you all are staying warm and looking forward to family time together as well, wherever you are!

Happy Thanksgiving a little early!!

I Love to hear from you.  Leave your questions or comments below!! Happy Shopping!!!  😉

Mix-It Up Mondays ~~ Gather Together Decor for Thanksgiving!

Mix-It Up Mondays Button

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Oh my goodness!!  I didn't realize it had been so long since we shared a Mix-It Up Monday together!!  Whew!!  It must have been a crazy past month or so!!  And now it's Thanksgiving week!  So hard to believe, and how fast the time really is passing!

Is everyone else ready for the hecticness of the Thanksgiving holiday this week?  I did all my major grocery shopping yesterday; and have the menu and plan laid out; now we'll see.  The first son is supposed to come in tomorrow morning -- but we have a major snow storm hitting overnight tonight and so I'm guessing his flight is going to get cancelled.  At minimum the drive to the airport to get him is going to be tough!!  I'm supposed to drive down to Colorado Springs on Wednesday to pick mom-in-law who will be staying with us the rest of the week; and I'm freaking out a little bit about how the roads will be by Wednesday morning!!  It all remains to be seen . . . but I'm moving forward with plans as though all will be alright -- setting up the formal dining room today; and starting to make pies, etc.  Whew!  So much to to do!!  LOL

Gather_Together_Decor_7

Today I'm excited to share some Fall/Thanksgiving decor items that I've been wanting to create for over 2 months now!!!  Sheesh!  THAT should tell you something.

These simple framed "art" - and the cute decorated pumpkin are showcased in our Holiday Occasions catalog - but I've simply had no time until now to sit down and recreate my version of the fun!

Gather_Together_Decor_2

Worse yet - I bought this cute "faux" white pumpkin (it's ceramic; not real) in early September - and it's been sitting on my work table ever since!  Yikes!

It's about time I get this cute and simple little project done so we can enjoy it before it goes in the Fall decor bin at the end of the week to be stored until next year -- LOL

Gather_Together_Decor_3

This simple tag is cut from the Come to Gather DSP at 2" x about 4" - and was punched at the end with the Banner Triple Punch.

The I stamped the wheat image twice from the Gather Together stamp set in Soft Suede ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, and fussy cut them out.

The leaves are cut with the Gathered Leaves Dies - and I'll bet you're wondering how I got the darker color (Soft Suede) in the leaf cut from the Crumb Cake cardstock . . .  we'll come back to that in a minute!!  LOL

I stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink on the wood piece from the Tags & Feathers Elements - I haven't used these wooden elements nearly enough this season -- they're really fun!  It's all tied with the ribbon and twine from the Come to Gather Ribbon Combo Pack.  Don't you love how we used the entire Come to Gather Suite in this one little project?

Gather_Together_Decor_4

I think that this is really the piece I've most been wanting to make over the past several months.

I struggled most with what kind of frame I wanted for this art piece.

I ended up getting a 10-1/2" x 6-1/4" frame (that's the frame size itself) that is set up on the inside to hold 3 small size (2-1/2" x 3-1/2") photos across.

So this is not exactly what you'll see in the catalog -- don't be thrown.

You can really do this in almost any size frame you want truth be known!!

The background is that lovely crumb cake/dotted paper from the Come to Gather DSP.

Then you'll see below that I stamped the wheat image from the stamp set right on the paper in the opposite corners.

Gather_Together_Decor_5

From there it's mostly about building your "collage" so to speak.

Feathers from the Tags & Feathers Elements are layered over my "special" leaves; then after testing stamping and die cutting pumpkins from the stamp set, I ended up cutting pumpkins out of the designer series paper -- they are just so pretty!!

Just so you know -- the leaves are SNAIL'd flat to the background paper; but the pumpkins were layered together with glue dots and then popped up with dimensionals.

"Gather" was die cut with the pretty Hand-Lettered Prose Dies from Pretty Peacock cardstock.

Attached over these pumpkins with Multi-Purpose Glue; and the rest are popped with mini dimensionals (some of those cut in half so they "hide" and are not seen).

Gathered_Leaves

You ready to know more about the secret behind those pretty leaves both on the tag further up and the framed art piece? 😊😊

This is so simple, it's almost unreal!!! LOL

Since these dies "emboss" while they cut out the shape, first press the leaf die into the ink of your choice (in this case above Pear Pizzazz) and then lay it on a "lighter" colored cardstock (in this case Soft Sea Foam) when cutting them out.

Can you believe how pretty this is??!!??  WOW and Easy!

Gather_Together_Decor_6

This is the lower right-hand corner of my framed piece.

I fussy cut pumpkins for inside the frame; and added the stamped/die cut ones outside the frame for extra dimension.

Gather_Together_Decor_8

Who noticed what got added between the very first picture in today's blog post and the later ones?

I always seem to think about "what's missing" from my projects while I'm working on other tasks!

LOL

I Love to hear from you.  Leave your questions or comments below!! Happy Shopping!!!  😉

"My Favorite Season" - October 2019 Stampin' Pretty Pals Blog Hop

2019 October

Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~

So hard to believe, but it is already time to celebrate the 2nd Wednesday of the month with the Stampin' Pretty Pals!!  We’re so glad you’re here!  Today the Pals have created some great projects for their chosen “Favorite Season”  - showcasing new stamps & supplies in our projects.  You may be starting the hop here or coming you may be coming from Su Mohr at Aromas And Art.   Either way, you’ve come to the right place.  When you're done perusing today's project, you’ll find the the full line-up below to help you move or “hop” along your way from Pal-to-Pal.

When it comes to My favorite season, it's hard to choose really.  If we are talking about a holiday, my favorite would certainly be Christmas.  If we talk about the changing seasons themselves, I do like Spring; but I think it can truly be said that I absolutely LOVE Autumn!!  This time of year has fast become my favorite over the past decade.

Season of Thanks - 6

And so today I'm combining the beauty of Autumn with the wonderful upcoming season of Thanksgiving - what I think is a much overlooked holiday and season amongst the fervor for Halloween and the hype of Christmas.

Season of Thanks - 1

This design combines the look of "hammered" copper with a watercolor wash of color; and beautiful Autumn leaves tucked around a "season of thanks."

Season of Thanks - 2

Both the Seasonal Layers dies and the new Gathered Leaves dies were used to create the layers of leaves on this design.

The larger background leaf was stamped with the large leaf image in the Gather Together stamp set; stamped in Versamark on Vellum; then embossed with my special emboss powder mixture and cut with the leaf frame die in the Gathered Leaves dies.

The "embossed" leaves are cut using those dies in the same set cut from Pretty Peacock cardstock.

And then the beautiful detailed leaf comes from the Seasonal Layers dies, cut from Copper Foil.

The sentiment is from the new Gather Together stamp set, stamped in the new Celestial Copper Delicata Metallic ink.  Tip:  Any metallic ink can seem to stamp "light."  So be sure to ink up your pad real well; and ink up your stamp very well before you stamp.

Season of Thanks - 3

The frame was created using Copper Foil, and the Stitched Rectangles dies.

Then I used the new Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder to created the wonderful "faux" hammered look.  I really love the rustic look of this new embossing folder.  Tip:  Be sure you have purchased the new 3D Embossing Folder Plate (Item #149658) to use with our new 3D embossing folders in your Big Shot (or die machine of choice).

I cut a piece of our new Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper to fit behind my copper frame (approximately 3-3/4" x 5") and then created a watercolor "wash" using an AquaPainter and Cajun Craze & Pretty Peacock ink refills.  Easy Peasy ~ Use a large clear block; drop a few drops of each reinker and then squeeze out a little water from your AquaPainter adding and mixing; and then pick up the color and wash across the watercolor paper.  Be generous with the water from the AquaPainter as you do this.  You can create as dark or as light a color you want this way.

Season of Thanks - 4

It's all finished off with Designer Elements.

Season of Thanks - 5

I added a strip inside the card; Copper Foil also embossed with the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder.

A few embossed leaves; and a lovely sentiment to finish it off in Pretty Peacock.

I hope you had fun with me today!!  More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team.  My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created!  Don’t forget to show us some love by commenting on our creations.  Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 13, 2019 when our Hoppin’ Pals share layers of designer papers and embellishments to our projects for "any occasion."  Don’t miss the fun!

Until Next Time . . . Puppy Hugs,
